STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • House Oversight Committee Republicans recently released the contents of emails sent between Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and his boss, then-National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins in 2020
  • The emails show Fauci and Collins rapidly agreed to suppress the theory that SARS-CoV-2 came from a lab. While questions of intentions remain, it seems this decision was made for political reasons
  • Sir Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust in London, who also helped promote the narrative that the lab leak theory was nothing more than a wild conspiracy theory, has publicly stressed that he feared then-president Trump might use evidence of a lab leak to start a war against China
  • Grant applications from the EcoHealth Alliance to the NIAID reveal the U.S. was funding the very research that could have resulted in this novel virus. Some of that research was even conducted in the lab in Wuhan, China
  • It appears the scientific establishment will cover for China, no matter what the cost, out of fear of being defunded and/or losing scientific credibility and standing. The willingness of U.S. authorities to cover up the origin of SARS-CoV-2 means that countries can now assault us with bioweapons indefinitely, with full impunity

House Oversight Committee Republicans recently released the contents of emails sent between Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), his boss, then-National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins in 2020.

February 1, 2020, Fauci, Collins, and 11 other scientists joined a conference call convened by Sir Jeremy Farrar, director of the Wellcome Trust in London, during which they were told the virus appeared to have leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, China, and that it might have been genetically engineered.

The emails show Fauci and Collins rapidly and unanimously agreed to suppress this evidence and quash anyone promoting the lab leak theory. While questions of intentions remain, it seems this decision was made for political, and not scientific, reasons.

On the one hand, it seems they didn’t want to sour relations with China, and on the other, they may have feared what might happen were their own gain-of-function research, done at the WIV, to be tied to the novel virus.

The COVID Origin Conspiracy

As reported by Nicholas Wade, writing for the City Journal, January 23, 2022:1

“From almost the moment the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in the city of Wuhan, the medical-research establishment in Washington and London insisted that the virus had emerged naturally. Only conspiracy theorists, they said, would give credence to the idea that the virus had escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Now a string of unearthed emails ... is making it seem increasingly likely that there was, in fact, a conspiracy, its aim being to suppress the notion that the virus had emerged from research funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), headed by Anthony Fauci.

The latest emails don’t prove such a conspiracy, but they make it more plausible, for two reasons: because the expert virologists therein present such a strong case for thinking that the virus had lab-made features and because of the wholly political reaction to this bombshell on the part of Francis Collins, then-director of the National Institutes of Health.”

In his article, Wade goes through the chain of events, recreated in part using the released emails. The day before that February 1 conference call, four virologists led by Kristian G. Andersen of the Scripps Research Institute emailed Fauci about the genomic sequence of the virus, which had been published three weeks earlier.

According to Andersen, the genome was “inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory.” Andersen and his three collaborators, Edward C. Holmes of the University of Sydney, Robert F. Garry of Tulane University, and Michael Farzan at Scripps Research, unanimously agreed that the virus wasn’t natural and may have escaped from a lab. Wade writes:2

“... the virologists had little doubt that the virus bore the fingerprints of manipulation. The focus of their attention was a genetic element called a furin cleavage site. This short snippet of genetic material is what makes the virus so infectious for human cells.

Scientists sometimes add this element to laboratory viruses to make them more virulent, but in nature, viruses usually acquire runs of genetic material like this by swapping them with other members of their family.

The furin cleavage site in the COVID virus sticks out like a sore thumb because no other known member of its family — a group called Sarbecoviruses — possesses a furin cleavage site. So how did the virus acquire it?

A member of the Andersen group, Garry of Tulane University, remarks in the latest emails on the fact that the inserted furin cleavage site, a string of 12 units of RNA, the virus’s genetic material, was exactly the required length, a precision unusual in nature:

‘I just can’t figure out how this gets accomplished in nature ... it’s stunning. Of course, in the lab it would be easy to generate the perfect 12 base insert that you wanted.’”

In his 2021 book, “Spike: The Virus Versus the People,” Farrar admits worrying about the political fallout were these preliminary findings to be true.

“With extremely tense U.S. relations and an unpredictable American president determined to see a biological threat through the distorting lens of nationalism, it didn’t feel too melodramatic to wonder if an engineered virus, either accidentally leaked or intentionally released, might be the sort of thing countries could go to war over,” he wrote.3

A Lie to Prevent War?

Three days after Farrar’s conference call, February 4, 2020, Andersen suddenly changed his tune. In an email, he derided “crackpot” ideas that “relate to this virus being somehow engineered with intent.”

That same day, Farrar sent Fauci a draft of a paper signed by Andersen, Garry, Holmes, and two other colleagues, Andrew Rambaut and Ian Lipkin. The paper, “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,”4 was published in its final form in mid-March 2020. In it, they roundly dismissed the lab leak theory and insisted the virus had a natural origin.

Now, even if Andersen was convinced that there was no ill intent involved, why did he scrap the evidence that initially convinced him the virus had to be engineered?

Farrar, in his book, claims that fears of a lab leak were only put to bed after intensive analysis and emergence of new data,5 but the email correspondence doesn’t seem to fit this narrative — unless you believe that a thorough scientific investigation can be neatly wrapped up in three days.

Be that as it may, with “The Proximal Origin” paper, the mainstream press had the ammunition it needed to “debunk” claims of genetic engineering and/or a laboratory release.

Farrar also cosigned an open letter in The Lancet, denouncing the lab leak theory as a baseless conspiracy theory. Together, these two “scientific consensus statements” were, for well over a year, used to silence discussion about a lab leak.

Politics, Not Science, at Play

Like Farrar, Collins and Fauci were also more concerned about political ramifications than the scientific truth itself. February 2, 2020, after being told point-blank that the virus appeared manufactured and likely escaped from the WIV, Collins complained that “voices of conspiracy” could do “great potential harm to science and international harmony.”

Even after Andersen’s natural origin statement was published, Collins still fretted about the fact that the lab leak theory wasn’t going away. “Wondering if there is something NIH can do to help put down this very destructive conspiracy,” he asked Fauci in an April 16, 2020, email. Fauci told him to just ignore it, saying it would eventually fade away.

The problem was that emerging data kept pointing to genetic engineering and a lab leak, so the theory just wouldn’t stay buried. Worse yet, grant applications from the EcoHealth Alliance to the NIAID reveal the U.S. was in fact funding the very research that could have resulted in this novel virus.

Those involved still maintain that science, not politics, directed their actions,6 but the evidence tells a different story. How can one explain how initial concerns about genetic engineering within three days shifted to a rock-solid consensus that we were dealing with natural evolution?

At the same time, Farrar, in his book, makes a big deal about his fears that then-president Trump was “seeking to blame the virus on China” and might misuse evidence of a lab leak to start a war.7

Yet we are asked to believe that this supposed fear of war played no role, and that science can indeed change on a dime and be sorted in a matter of days. No, if anything, what this tells us is that the scientific establishment will cover for China, no matter what the cost, out of fear of being defunded and/or losing scientific credibility and standing.

Without a doubt, researchers involved in dangerous gain-of-function research want to continue their work — again, regardless of the cost to humanity. As noted by Wade:8

“The repudiation by Andersen, Garry, and Holmes of their original conclusion, expressed in the January 31, 2020, email was of enormous benefit to Collins and Fauci.

Though primary responsibility for any lab leak would rest with Shi at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and with Chinese regulatory authorities, Collins and Fauci could share a portion of the blame for having funded gain-of-function research despite its obvious risks and then failing to ensure that grant recipients were taking all necessary precautions.”

The end result of all of this may be just as bad or worse than open kinetic war. The willingness of U.S. authorities to cover up the origin of SARS-CoV-2 means that countries can now assault us with bioweapons indefinitely, with full impunity.

“If there really was a conspiracy surrounding the origin of SARS-CoV-2, Congress should search for it,” Wade writes.9 “First, in the still-closed records of the National Institutes of Health and the EcoHealth Alliance. Congress then needs to ask scientists free of outside pressures or conflicts to reassess the probable origin of a virus that has now killed some 5 million people worldwide.”

Not All Scientists Are Trustworthy

In related news, journalist Paul Thacker recently dove into yet another example of science gone wrong:10

“Why do people not ‘trust the science’?” Thacker asks. “Because like all people, scientists are not always trustworthy ... It sometimes feels like researchers are striving to give people reasons to doubt science in the age of COVID.

In the most recent example, the DisInformation Chronicle discovered that, in one of the most widely read science journal articles of 2020, researchers wrote that it was a ‘conspiracy theory’ to claim that the COVID-19 pandemic could have started from a lab accident in China.

However, they violated publishing ethics by not disclosing that the article had been secretly edited by two scientists whose lab research involves genetically engineering coronaviruses.

The commentary titled, ‘No credible evidence supporting claims of the laboratory engineering of SARS-CoV-2’11 appeared in the journal Emerging Microbes & Infections, which is published by Taylor and Francis. The authors also appear to have bypassed the normal process of peer review, according to emails12 made public by U.S. Right to Know.13

As reported by Thacker, the commentary was edited by none other than Shi Zhengli of the WIV, and Ralph Baric, Ph.D., of the University of North Carolina — both of whom have been conducting the kind of risky gain-of-function experiments on coronaviruses thought to have resulted in SARS-CoV-2.

Baric specifically asked not to be cited as having commented on the article prior to submission, which is a direct violation of Taylor and Francis authorship policy. Neither Baric’s nor Zhengli’s names appear in the final article. Funding sources were also omitted.

Beware the Vaccine Industrial Complex

The issue of whether or not we can simply “trust the science” becomes even more pertinent in light of the rise of “the vaccine industrial complex,” where vaccine company executives infiltrate government positions and vice-versa.

In a February 16, 2021, article14 in Singapore Business Times, associate dean at the California Western Law School, James Cooper, warns of the potential for a revolving door to develop between government and the vaccine industry in the wake of COVID-19. If you ask me, that revolving door has already existed for many years.

Cooper cites former U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower’s famous military-industrial complex speech, in which he cautioned against the insidious nature of relations between the government and suppliers of arms. Cooper fears the same kind of insidious relationship is now taking shape with Big Pharma, where science ends up playing second fiddle to profits.

“Since the end of World War II, a strong military-industrial complex has ensured massive profits for weapons suppliers in government procurement programs and prolonged armed conflicts around the world. Could the same be possible for the preventive medical solutions to the pandemic?” Cooper asks.

“After all, in order to maintain the current valuations that companies which make COVID-related vaccines and diagnostic tests enjoy, the pandemic will have to become perpetual ...

[T]he unintended consequences of creating a multi-billion-dollar vaccine industry that did not exist just a year ago should not be ignored. In the previous U.S. administration, worries emerged that politics was crowding out science.

There is a risk that science may take a back seat to economics: When faced with the potential of even greater financial rewards, randomized controlled trials and peer-reviewed studies may turn out to be afterthoughts.

To quote Mr. Eisenhower at the end of his speech: ‘In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.’”

Indeed, drug companies are not likely to willingly let go of the mRNA industry that was allowed to prematurely emerge thanks to the supposed emergency of COVID-19. New viruses and new vaccines are the proverbial lock and key to the biggest and most dangerous financial fraud the world has ever known.

The end result of this vaccine industrial complex is the rise of worldwide totalitarianism and global genocide. Never before has it been more important to scrutinize our government leaders to ascertain their true loyalties.

Promoting the Grooming and Sexualization of Children

Woke literature infects public schools.

Richard L. Cravatts, Ph.D., a Freedom Center Journalism Fellow in Academic Free Speech and President Emeritus of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, is the author of Dispatches From the Campus War Against Israel and Jews.

Each year, public school libraries face angry parents and school boards upset with the presence of reading materials they find objectionable. These attacks on specific books have included classics such as often-banned Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (for its repeated use of the n-word), Catcher in the Rye (for what in today’s culture are its mild references to sexuality and its vulgarity), and other literary works whose value and reputation, despite occasional challenges, have made them logical additions to a school’s reading list.

Just last month, for example, The Mukilteo School Board near Seattle voted unanimously to remove Harper Lee’s classic examination of racism, To Kill a Mockingbird, from the required reading list for ninth graders because, as the American Library Association has noted, the book includes “racial slurs and their negative effect on students, featuring a ‘white savior’ character, and its perception of the Black experience.”

Also last month, the McMinn County Board of Education in Tennessee made the troubling decision to remove the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust by Art Spiegelman, Maus, from the school system’s curriculum. In justifying its decision to remove the book, the Board claimed it was “because of its unnecessary use of profanity and nudity and its depiction of violence and suicide,” although the anthropomorphic characters in the novel are mice (Jews) and cats (Nazis), and the nudity in question referred, of course, to a naked mouse.

While parents and school boards have long questioned titles that some consider objectionable, inappropriate, indecent, or lewd, complaints from parents and school boards about offensive books currently seem to involve books about sexuality, particularly including those with a focus on LGBTQ topics. In fact, an American Library Association report noted that “Most challenges to library resources in 2018 focused on materials and programs associated with issues of concern to those in the gay, lesbian, transgender, and queer communities, most notably drag queen story hours and books affirming transgender youth....”

While the vigorous debate over race and the teaching of critical race theory (CRT) in public schools has garnered an enormous amount of attention, less visible but equally as troubling is the increased adoption of books whose language, subject matter, illustrations, and general tone are so sexually charged and so graphic that a school board’s concern about a drawing of a naked mouse or some off-hand swearing by Holden Caufield seems disingenuous at best and hypocritical at worst.

A whole collection of new titles has been published as part of a campaign to normalize extremes of sexual behavior, to expose even young students to discussions about sexuality and physical relationships, to advance tolerance for and acceptance of gay and even deviant lifestyles and behavior, and for a pervading attitude that anyone’s difference and uniqueness—no matter how obscure or aberrant—should be discussed and embraced by everyone. This is part of a wide campaign that educators have taken on as something they believe is their right and duty to promote and teach, resulting in a variety of what many think are inappropriate, even offensive books that have found their way into school libraries, reading lists, and classrooms.

Consider, as one example, Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison, a coming of age book which the School Library Journal described as a “deceptively simple novel [that] takes on tough issues such as race, sexual identity, and the crushing weight of American capitalism.” Of course, the fact that “Mike Muñoz, the 22-year-old biracial (Mexican and white) narrator, has grown up dirt-poor with his hardworking waiter mother and his brother, who is developmentally disabled” makes this entire package irresistible to educators in the thrall of intersectionality, perfectly coalesced here with a poor, bi-racial gay person victimized by capitalism and white supremacy.

But it is the language that is troublesome here, not the oft-repeated critique of American society. At a September meeting of the board of the Leander Independent School District in Texas, the vulgarity and blatant sexuality of the book was exposed by a concerned parent who read passages from it and questioned why her child had found a book like this in his school library.

As a sample of some of the sexual descriptions in the book, she read such passages as, “Not that it really matters, in fourth grade at a church youth group meeting out in the bushes, I touched Doug Goebbels’ dick, and he touched mine. In fact, there were even some mouths involved.”

Another passage, which the parent accurately suggested was an example of grooming of children to make them likely to want to participate in sexual activity, read, “What if I told you I touched another guy’s dick? What if I told you I sucked it? I was ten years old, but it’s true. I put Doug Goebbels’ dick in my mouth. I was in fourth grade, it was no big deal. He sucked mine too. And you know what, it wasn’t terrible.”

Perhaps when a gay, bi-racial Mexican character is the subject of a book any language and graphic description are acceptable, the only explanation for the passages like this one in which the most intimate childhood recollections are described: “He talked about all times at the church but never mentioned our penises, or the fact that he never said ten words to me after our little foray in the bushes. Not a single reference to holding or tugging or sucking dicks. All I could think about while he was chatting me up, was his little salamander between my fourth-grade fingers, rapidly engorging with blood.”

Holden Caufield’s musing in Catcher in the Rye seems quite quaint compared to the language of Lawn Boy“If you want to know the truth, I’m a virgin. I really am,” he says. “I’ve had quite a few opportunities to lose my virginity and all, but I’ve never got around to it yet. Something always happens.” Yet, one of the complaints about Salinger’s work is that it is profane and overtly sexual.

In January, the Board of Education of the Wentzville (Missouri) School District debated whether The Bluest Eyes, a novel by the late Toni Morrison, should be retained in the library collection after complaints were made about the book’s depiction of “pedophilia, incest, rape.”

Literature, including, of course, great literature, has often dealt with difficult and controversial topics as far back as Oedipus. But whether The Bluest Eyes, with this description of a pedophile’s yearning for sex with children, is a good choice for a school library is debatable. “He further limited his interests to little girls. They were usually manageable . . ,” it reads. “His sexuality was anything but lewd; his patronage of little girls smacked of innocence and was associated in his mind with cleanliness.” Later, in an attempt to expiate himself of his sins, the pedophile deludes himself by suggesting, “I work only through the Lord. He sometimes uses me to help people.”

And his professed innocence and self-awareness do not diminish the repulsive attraction depicted here: “The little girls are the only things I’ll miss. Do you know that when I touched their sturdy little tits and bit them —just a little—I felt I was being friendly?—If I’d been hurting them, would they have come back? . . . they’d eat ice cream with their legs open while I played with them. It was like a party.”

The language of this book also includes some of the same words condemned in Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird, but this school board condoned them in this instance, suggesting in their review that “This novel helps the reader step into and understand 1941 (pre-WWII, pre-civil [sic] rights movement), small-town black culture in a way no textbook can do.”

“With a violence born of total helplessness, he pulled her dress up, lowered his trousers and underwear,” one violent, misogynistic passage reads. “‘I said get on wid [sic] it. An’ make it good, [n-word], Come on [c-word]. Faster. You ain’t doing nothing for her.’ He almost wished he could do it—hard, long, and painfully, he hated her so much.”

The Left’s current obsession with gender fluidity and gender dysphoria has, of course, made its way into children’s books as well, as activists determined to promote transgenderism are eager to bring that discussion into schools. One such book, Felix Ever After, is “a revelatory YA novel about a transgender teen grappling with identity and self-discovery while falling in love for the first time.”

KTTH-AM host Jason Rantz revealed that in a display for Pride Month, Zeiger Elementary School in Puyallup, Washington included Felix Ever After, a book that focuses on “top surgery.”  The book, according to Rantz, is “a book with prolific drugs, sex, and vulgarity,” not to mention the fact that it promotes a controversial sex-altering surgery performed here on a minor. On top of that, the book is replete with swears and obscenity. “The F-word is present in this book 66 times in the first 90 pages, local activist Dawn Land said at a recent board meeting. “Considering that a movie that [says] the F-word more than once is automatically rated R, this book should not be anywhere near any school in this district.”

Apparently, if you are a “Black, queer, and transgender teen who faces transphobia,” you can swear with impunity, just as a gay, bi-racial Mexican character can engage in gay sex and describe oral sex sessions with another child and that content is acceptable because of the victim status of the books’ subjects.

Another example of intersectionality unbound can be found in All Boys Aren’t Blue, a book which “covers topics such as gender identity, toxic masculinity, brotherhood, family, structural marginalization, consent, and Black joy,” “weav[ing] together the trials and triumphs faced by Black queer boys.”

Why the subject of “Black queer boys” is more relevant to and has more educational value than some other works of literature that seem to be so carelessly and thoughtlessly tossed aside is not clear, other than the fact that a character with so much victim status is irresistible to woke, virtue-signaling educators who wish to promote their supposed tolerance and insight on school children. Perhaps that is why seventh-graders in Olathe, Kansas, as one example, were exposed to the language in this book, including such passages as, “He reached his hand down and pulled out my dick. He quickly went to giving me head. I just sat back and enjoyed it as I could tell he was, too.” “He didn’t know I was a virgin,” it continued, “and I did my best to act dominant like my favorite porn star.”

“For the first few minutes,” the narrator recalls in another section, “we dry humped and grinded. I was behind him with my stomach on his back as we kissed . . . he pulled out some condom and some lube . . . . I had never done it before . . . I had one point of reference, though, and that was seven-plus years of watching pornography. Although the porn was heterosexual, it was enough of a reference point to get the job done.”

Something is clearly amiss when school boards and teachers purge their reading lists and libraries of classic works of fiction that have proven educational value and merit, even if they are peppered with occasional swears or slurs, including the n-word, but words that are appropriate to the narratives and even helpful in making the point of the stories. If an illustration of a naked mouse in a significant novel about the Holocaust is considered too controversial, but pedophilia, rape, and graphic depictions of oral sex by minors are somehow acceptable because the characters are members of protected identity groups, then the wrong standards are being applied to the literary works schools adopt for teaching its students.

Great literature is still worthy even if it sometimes offends, but unworthy books do not become literature merely because they are offensive, and educators should know the difference.

The Only Ones Banning Books are Critical Race Theorists

When censors pretend to be free speech activists.

BY DANIEL GREENFIELD

Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism.

After spending the last few years banning Dr. Seuss and literally burning copies of Harry Potter novels in bonfires, and denouncing classic children’s literature like Little House on the Prairie and Mary Poppins as racist, leftists are now accusing conservatives of “banning books”.

When a Minnesota school district removed The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and To Kill A Mockingbird from its curriculum because it made students "uncomfortable", the NAACP, which has been trying to ban Huck since at least the 50s, cheered. So did the media which celebrated the effort to remove "racist language" that “triggered students of color” from the classroom.

The removal of Mark Twain's authentically anti-racist masterpiece was carried out by anti-racists in school districts from Burbank, California to Lawrence, Kansas. In 2016, a Virginia school district, now at the center of media fear-mongering about book bans after parents succeeded in reclaiming schools from CRT bosses, banned both books because of all the "racial slurs".

Now the censors want to reclaim the mantle of free speech. The media, which described school districts “removing” or “replacing” books on reading lists when leftists were doing it, now calls the removal of books, whether they’re racist critical race theory texts or Maus, as “bans”.

Much like erstwhile liberals went from celebrating Jefferson and Lincoln to toppling their statues, their educational counterparts who had once vocally championed Huck and Mockingbird, and shouted down any effort to keep them out of the classroom, now just as vocally want them out and replaced with the deranged hateful ravings of Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ibram X. Kendi.

Yet instead of being honest about that (or anything else), they duck into a phone booth, doff their censor togs and dress up as free speech crusaders, and then rush back and throw off their free speech tights to go back to burning books. Even by the standards of a movement that is so pathologically Orwellian that it describes protests against vaccine mandates as “authoritarian”, this is a bit much. But the only books they believe should be in school are those whose politics they like, at any given moment, before deciding that they’re hate speech and purging them.

Removing books from a school curriculum isn’t a ban. If it is, then lefties have been banning books forever. It’s not just Huck Finn, there’s hardly a single classic book that hasn’t been denounced for thought crimes. The Wind in the Willows? Racist. Narnia? Islamophobic. The Lord of the Rings? Also racist. Any book written by a white man? Systemically racist.

Recently, a university added a trigger warning to 1984 by George Orwell.

The worst offenders are the proponents of critical race theory, now suddenly crying about censorship, when they had been urging schools, publishers, and readers to stop buying, publishing, and displaying books by white men in the name of racial and gender equity.

A few years ago they were touting a proposal that every racist illiterate stop reading books by white men for a year. You can still find headlines like, "I Read Books by Only Minority Authors for a Year" from the Washington Post, and more explicit posts at book sites like, "Why I'm No Longer Reading Books by White Men", "A Year of No White Men", "The Year I Stopped Reading White People". The crybullies at Goodreads, which is to young adult books what TikTok is to videos of crying teens changing gender on camera, bullied publishers into canceling books and forced writers to unpublish their own books to the wild applause of the media.

Now lefties are subjecting us to their self-righteous pearl-clutching about censoring books.

Parents have a right to determine what their children are reading in school. They have an absolute right to reject the real racism of Ta-Nehisi Coates or Ibram X. Kendi, who dehumanize white people as a group, or, for that matter, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, if they don’t want their children reading racial slurs, or Maus, if they don’t want them exposed to curse words. Parents don’t need a ‘good reason’ to keep a book off the reading list. Being the parents of their children is good enough to give them veto power over what their children are taught.

But there is a world of difference between taking a book out of a school and banning it.

When you harass publishers and authors into removing a book from sale, you’re banning the book. When you pull classic books from sale and then ban their resale, as the Seuss Foundation did, under pressure, and eBay chose to do on its own, that is an actual book ban.

People who believe that men can become women by wishing hard enough have the right to burn their own copies of Harry Potter, but there’s no mistaking the message of hate and intimidation that sends. There’s a reason the Nazis loved burning books. It’s an act of violence that serves as a temporary substitute for destroying the authors and readers behind them.

Anyone can and should be able to read any book they want. The proponents of critical race theory are the biggest opponents of that idea. They don’t just want books they dislike out of schools, but they want them removed entirely from existence. That’s why they don’t just refuse to read them, or even just burn them, they pressure publishers into eliminating them.

They don’t just do this because they hate the books themselves but as a show of power.

Books have been banned for a whole lot less than racial slurs or accurately describing the world as it was at the time. Beloved classic children’s books like Wind in the Willows had messages read into them. Racial lenses have been placed over classics like Lord of the Rings. And contemporary teen books were forced out of existence for the mere crime of having ‘black’ or ‘slave’ in the title even when they were set in fantasy kingdoms and had nothing to do with race.

This Salem Witch Trial of literature isn’t even about the context of the text, but the hateful power of the social justice censors who are getting high on the fumes from the burning paper.

After all this, the book burners, statue topplers, and crowdsourced censors suddenly want to act like they’re the champions of free speech because parents don’t want critical racist texts, underage pornography, and the other garbage that the Left currently champions (before deciding a decade from now that it also needs to be banned) taught to their children.

The old liberals of the ACLU had some personal credibility when attacking censorship, the postmodern identity politics leftists who live and breathe censorship have less than none.

Much of lefty politics is built on wearing liberal skins and echoing liberal ideas in between illiberal bouts of destroying everything they don’t approve of and demanding that everyone swear allegiance to their politics. Sometimes it fools the declining population of Boomer liberals.

Just ask Obama.

The very last people who should ever don the mantle of free speech are critical race theorists who believe that everything is racist and should be banned unless it was made by them. They are obsessed with “whiteness” in architecture, art, and literature the way the Nazis were obsessed with finding trace elements of Jewishness in Einstein’s theories and Strauss waltzes.

Banning books isn’t just something you do: it’s central to how you think of the world.

Parents trying to determine what books their children are exposed to aren’t trying to control the world, but critical race theory is concerned not with individuals, but all of society. Leftists believe that they should control not just what they read, but what everyone reads and believes.

This is the authoritarian totalitarian impulse that moves them to both ban and compel books.

Reading to them is not an individual choice, but a collective one. The mass production of books and the transformation of reading from a public activity to a private one made individualism possible. Even in totalitarian societies, people smuggled books and read them secretly. In those stolen hours, seeing words by candlelight, they won the freedom of the soul.

Today, Big Tech and their Big Publisher allies want people reading on Kindles and on digital platforms where books are not truly owned, but allocated by digital rights management lurking in the cloud which can delete any book at any time, making its words and the ones and zeros behind them disappear. Turning a private act into a public one, controlled by monopolies, and policed by the politically correct is a technosocial ecosystem that destroys individual reading.

Critical race theory proponents are coming for our books, they’re coming for our culture, and our souls, and even as they burn and loot our intellectual heritage, they claim to be the victims.

In a perversity that would have stunned even Orwell and Swift, the book burners claim that they’re fighting censorship, the censors insist that they’re defending themselves against painful words, and the racists declare that they’re imposing racism in the name of anti-racism.

And if you doubt that they’re the victims, they’ll burn you too.

Nigeria described as world ‘epicenter of jihadi violence,’ Christian persecution at ‘catastrophic levels’

While the US House “voted for legislation to monitor and combat Islamophobia globally,” and Canada is about to appoint a Special Representative on combatting Islamophobia, who is monitoring the abuses committed by Muslims globally in the name of Islam?

The massive tally of abuses against Christians in Nigeria, religious minorities and dissidents in Iran, and others in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and elsewhere, are all being ignored. Likewise, jihadists in the Palestinian territories who are stabbing and blowing up Israelis are also mostly ignored. All while a microscope is being used to try to find incidents judged to be “Islamophobic” in the West.

According to David Curry, the CEO of the Christian Aid group Open Doors, “Northern Nigeria is really the epicenter of jihadi violence right now.”

“Exclusive – Aid Group: Nigeria the World’s ‘Epicenter of Jihadi Violence,’ Army Sending Unarmed Soldiers to Fight,” by Frances Martel, Breitbart, January 21, 2022:

Islamist violence against Christians in Nigeria – a country estimated to be about half Christian – has reached catastrophic levels and places the country at risk of being home to a new Islamic State-style caliphate, David Curry, the CEO of the Christian Aid group Open Doors, told Breitbart News in an interview this week.

Open Doors released its annual World Watch List, an in-depth ranking of the most dangerous places in the world to be a Christian, on Wednesday. Nigeria earned the list’s number seven ranking, up two spots from the year before. Open Doors classifies persecution in Nigeria as “extreme.”

The increase in Christian persecution in Nigeria is particularly notable this year given the decision by the administration of President Joe Biden to remove the country from the State Department’s list of Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) for religious freedom in November. Supporters of the move make the case that the violence against Christians in the country occurs at the hands of two major jihadist groups, the Islamic State affiliate Boko Haram and Fulani Muslim terrorists, and not directly from the Nigerian government. In conversation on Wednesday, however, Curry observed that the Nigerian government has done “almost nothing” to protect Christians in the country.

“Northern Nigeria is really the epicenter of jihadi violence right now,” Curry told Breitbart News. “There’s a band across the African continent, it’s called the Sahel region. It includes northern Nigeria but it goes over into Cameroon, Chad, Burkina Faso, Niger. All of these countries are seeing a giant jump [in anti-Christian violence] because of Boko Haram, which is an ISIS-affiliated group, and the Fulani.”

Bodies of Christian massacred by the ‘mainly Muslim’ Fulani lie in a mass grave after 500 Christians were slaughtered in a 3-hour orgy of violence against Christian villages in northern Nigeria in 2010.
Bodies of Christian massacred by the ‘mainly Muslim’ Fulani lie in a mass grave after 500 Christians were slaughtered in a 3-hour orgy of violence against Christian villages in northern Nigeria in 2010.

Curry’s assessment echoes what President Muhammadu Buhari has himself said of the country.

“Africa is the new frontline of global militancy,” Buhari wrote in a column for the Financial Times last year, proposing that the solution to the problem should come at the hands of the West.

Curry explained that the major increase in jihadist violence against Christians in the country began in 2014 – the year Boko Haram made international headlines by abducting nearly 300 girls from a secondary school in Chibok, a town in northern Nigeria’s Borno state. As of the seventh anniversary of the kidnappings last year, over 100 of the victims remain missing.

At the time, Boko Haram was a local jihadist group known for attacking schools and opposing the secular education of girls in particular. Boko Haram has since adopted the formal name “Islamic State West Africa Province” (ISWAP) and pledged allegiance to ISIS. The Nigerian government has used the name change to falsely claim victory over “Boko Haram” and blame all subsequent Boko Haram attacks on “ISWAP.”

In the years after the Chibok kidnappings, groups of Fulani herdsman terrorists have increased attacks on Christian communities in northern Nigeria, raiding known Christian communities and massacring their populations.

“While all citizens of northern Nigeria are subject to threats and violence, Christians are often specifically targeted because of their faith — ISWAP and Boko Haram want to eliminate the Christian presence in Nigeria, and Muslim Fulani militants attack Christian villages specifically,” Open Doors’ World Watch List details. “In addition to the violence risks, Christians in some of Nigeria’s northern states also live under Shariah law, where they face discrimination and treatment as second-class citizens. Christians who convert from Islam also face rejection from their families, often pressured to recant their faith in Jesus; sometimes, they are even violently attacked.”

“The government, which is run by President Buhari who is himself historically from the Fulani tribe, have done almost nothing as nearly 5,000 people were killed for their faith this year alone, and millions of others displaced,” Curry explained. “You have thousands of kids who are kidnapped, young girls, out of school. Over a thousand kids this year alone. So you can imagine if we had 1000 young girls kidnapped out of American schools, people would be going nuts.”

Curry lamented that Buhari has offered no meaningful defense support to affected communities.

“They’re sending the Nigerian military into the north of the country without weapons, without bullets, without the sorts of things that a civil society needs to protect against major armed Islamic terrorists,” Curry asserted.

“In many cases, they’re unarmed or they send them with guns without the bullets to fight them. And these terrorists have weapons, they’ve been funded,” Curry said. The result, he concluded, is that the soldiers simply refuse to fight, giving the terrorists freedom to attack.

“That is how this has continued to grow and it will, if left unchecked, continue to become a caliphate much like ISIS had in Iraq and Syria a few years ago,” he predicted.

SOMEBODY TELL WHOOPI: Covid-19 vaccines are projected to kill TEN TIMES the number of Holocaust victims in 2022 alone

(Natural NewsThe Expose published a statistical analysis of sudden cardiovascular deaths following covid-19 vaccination. According to evidence of severe inflammation of the heart and current cardiac arrest trends in young professional athletes, covid-19 vaccines are projected to cause over 62.3 million excess deaths in 2022. The report found cardiovascular deaths doubled for fully vaccinated FIFA players and trainers every three months throughout 2021. This trend will likely continue throughout 2022, due to the prevalence of myocarditis, which more than doubles the risk of a heart attack in a 5-year span. If this is true, then covid-19 vaccines could kill TEN TIMES the Holocaust number in 2022 alone. Today’s medical tyranny and forced medical experimentation are making Adolf Hitler’s regime look kind in comparison.

Covid-19 vaccines double the risk of a heart attack in a 5-year span

Dr. Steven Gundry gave a speech to the American Heart Association on November 12-14. He reported that covid-19 vaccines more than double a person’s chance of suffering a heart attack in a five-year span. This was evidenced by a serious rise in inflammatory markers just two months after the second dose of the covid-19 vaccine. This means that the damage caused by covid-19 vaccines will not be fully realized for years. With repeated dosage, these inflammatory markers will only increase, putting strain on young people’s hearts. The inflammation of the heart muscle is not mild; if the heart is overworked, the individual can go into cardiac arrest. This is why sudden cardiac events have skyrocketed in young athletes.

The statistics show that cardiovascular deaths increased each quarter throughout 2021, suggesting that the vaccine damage multiplies as time goes on. FIFA Pro Footballer deaths increased from three deaths in the first quarter of 2021 to eight deaths in the second quarter. The deaths jumped to abnormal levels in quarters three and four, with 16 deaths and 40 deaths occurring each quarter, respectively. These are the trends in death in just one sports league. Once these numbers are extrapolated across healthy populations of athletes and active young adults, the rate of cardiac arrest and death becomes a Holocaust-level event.

But not everyone will die. Many people will be revived, but some athletes are so injured by the vaccine, they are never able to play sports again. Take for instance Sergio Aguero, the fit Manchester City player who collapsed on the field in front of his team. He was ultimately revived, but he will not be able to play professional football ever again. Thirty-one other footballers collapsed the same year, but they were NOT revived. Since 2009, fatalities for FIFA players and trainers have averaged 7.8 deaths per year. After the vax mandate, there were four times that number of deaths! There were seven deaths in December alone – more than the average number of deaths for a typical year. (Related: The world is starting to notice how many young athletes are DYING after taking covid vaccines.)

Multiple holocausts are in queue if spike protein replication continues through mass vaccination programs

According to John Hopkins University, approximately 51.6% of the world’s population is doubly vaccinated with spike protein mRNA. The average worldwide cardiac death rate is 8.9 million annually. For the 50 percent of the population that is unvaccinated, the number of cardiac events would remain steady and make up 1.1125 million fatalities per quarter. However, for the 50 percent of the population that is fully vaccinated, that rate could go up to 2.225 million per quarter, in accordance with the double heart attack risk factor observed in the doubly vaccinated. If the exponential rise in young footballer deaths is a signal that continues throughout the young, active population who are doubly vaccinated, then the heart attack rate could double EACH QUARTER for a significant cohort of the fully vaccinated.

According to the analysis, the 8.9 million average cardiovascular deaths could increase to 71.2 million, a staggering jump of 62.3 million deaths. Of course, this is just an analysis of heart attack fatalities following covid-19 vaccination. These figures do not figure in the number of deaths caused by vaccine-acquired autoimmune deficiency syndrome. The vaccines have been shown to damage cell-mediated and mucus-mediated immune responses, making the vaccinated more susceptible to future infections. Moreover, this genocidal fatality rate does not factor in inevitable neurological degeneration caused by the vaccine’s inflammatory spike proteins. Since inflammation is the precursor to chronic disease, the vaccines could unleash multiple holocausts spanning dozens of medical issues that include heart attacks, immune deficiency, and cancer.

EXCERPTS FROM WIKIPEDIA:

On April 27, 2017, HB 3502 introduced by Chief Sponsor, Deb Conroy, passed with unanimous support. This bill's purpose was to set up an advisory council with the goals of developing recommendations and an action plan to address the barriers to early and regular screening and identification of mental health conditions in children, adolescents, and young adults in Illinois.[12]

Throughout her career as a state representative, Deb Conroy has shown her support for same-sex marriage and enforcement of equality laws by co-sponsoring the SB 10 (Authorizes Same-Sex Marriage) and the SJRCA 75 (Ratifies the Equal Rights Amendment), which were both passed. Conroy has also voted in favor of HB 217, which prohibits sexual orientation conversion therapy for minors and was executively signed into law on August 20, 2015.

(Natural News) Of course, it’s a female Democrat lawmaker from Illinois. Rep. Deb Conroy (D), 46th District, has proposed a new law (HB 4640) that would empower the State of Illinois to round up anti-vaxxers at gunpoint and throw them into state-run concentration camps for an indefinite period of time. This is entirely consistent with the authoritarian lunacy of Democrats and especially female Democrats who have become raging, power-hungry “mask Karens” who seek to rule over everyone.

Here’s the official Illinois General Assembly link to the status of the bill.

From IllinoisReview.com:

Villa Park State Rep. Deb Conroy (Democrat) wants to “isolate or quarantine persons who are unable or unwilling to receive vaccines, medications, or other treatments.”

HB 4640 is scheduled to be heard in the Illinois House Human Services Committee on February 2 at 9:00 AM.

If HB 4640 were to become law, persons exposed to an infectious disease could be placed under Public Health Department observation, only possible in a contained atmosphere with Department watch guards, some suggest such as a concentration camp.

The bill says:

To prevent the spread of a dangerously contagious or infectious disease, the [Public Health] Department may, pursuant to the provisions of subsection (c) of this Section, isolate or quarantine persons whose refusal to undergo observation and monitoring results in uncertainty regarding whether he or she has been exposed to or is infected with a dangerously contagious or infectious disease or otherwise poses a danger to the public’s health.

Here’s the Democrat pushing this: Rep. Deb Conroy:

The proposed law would also allow any local Illinois “official” (i.e. criminal government goon) to access the vaccine status of all individuals as a pretense to rounding up the unvaccinated and throwing them into covid concentration camps.

From the description at ILGA.gov:

Amends the Department of Public Health Act. Provides that emergency access to medical or health information, records, or data shall include access to electronic health records, provided that the local health authority shall be unable to alter the electronic health records.

There are currently 12,634 “witness slips” filed in opposition to the bill, as seen at this link on ILGA.gov.

The number of proponents in support of the bill is 81.

Your government is the terrorist

It appears that Rep Deb Conroy has not yet sufficiently terrorized the people of Illinois to get them to agree to be rounded up and taken away to concentration camps. No doubt the psychological operations programs will have to be ramped up to achieve that goal.

Here’s a link on how to contact Rep. Deb Conroy. She’s a member of the Illinois House Democratic Women’s Caucus and — no surprise — was also a District 205 School Board member. If you contact her, be polite. Don’t fall into the trap of becoming what she is.

If you ever wondered what an actual vaccine Nazi looks like in modern-day America, get a good look at this Karen. This is what the Holocaust looks like in America: Power-hungry lunatic left-wing women demanding that men with guns round up all their political opponents and throw them into concentration camps. Conroy would have felt right at home in Nazi Germany, circa 1939.

It’s no surprise, then, that Conroy is the Chair of the House Mental Health Committee. Never forget how the Nazis declared their opponents to be mentally deficient so they could throw them into insane asylums and have them exterminated. It seems like it’s always the people running the mental health sectors of society who are the most insane and power-hungry, doesn’t it?

Here’s Rep. Conroy with her “mental health” award placard:

Finally, if you live in Illinois, you should probably consider exiting that bankrupt state anyway, as the financial picture for the State of Illinois is nothing short of disastrous. Even with covid bailout money, Chicago and St. Louis are beyond bankrupt. The city of Chicago currently owes $43,700 per taxpayer, reports IllinoisPolicy.org:

Fiscal watchdog Truth in Accounting’s July 2021 report showed the Windy City’s pension-fueled debt rose by $2.3 billion from 2019 to 2020 despite receiving substantial federal aid during the pandemic.

Maybe vaccine Holocaust pusher Deb Conroy should spend more time worrying about how Illinois is going to pay its bills than hounding citizens over vaccine compliance and wasting money on guards for covid concentration camps.

Also, note that it’s only Democrat-controlled states that are pushing concentration camps. This insane nonsense does not fly in red states.

In any case, if you contact Rep. Conroy, be polite and state your case firmly and calmly. Better yet, just vote tyrants like this out of power in the 2022 mid-term elections. The way to end tyranny is to stop supporting it, obviously.

For those Illinois citizens who keep voting Democrat, you are getting the tyranny you deserve.

Air Force Chaplain Reprimanded for Seeking a Religious Exemption for COVID-19 Vaccine

Air Force Chaplain Reprimanded for Seeking a Religious Exemption for COVID-19 Vaccine

BY JAMES MURPHY

SEE: https://thenewamerican.com/air-force-chaplain-reprimanded-for-seeking-a-religious-exemption-for-covid-19-vaccine/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

An as-yet-unnamed Air Force chaplain — with the rank of major — has received a formal letter of reprimand from superior officers for not yet taking an experimental COVID-19 vaccine. The chaplain had been seeking a religious exemption to opt-out of taking any of the vaccines currently being offered, all of which have been linked to either blood clots or heart inflammation issues.

The major requested that the letter of reprimand be rescinded, but that request has been denied. As the chaplain’s attorney, Davis Younts, told Just the News, “Letters of Reprimand are often used for things like – Sexual Harassment, Cruelty and Maltreatment, False Official Statements, and Dereliction of Duty.”

But now, apparently, today’s military members can receive letters of reprimand for making personal health-care decisions that superior officers disagree with.

“You failed to obey a lawful order to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine. This failure violates Article 92, UCMJ (Failure to Obey Order). Specifically, on 4 January 2022, I provided you with the attached written order to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine in accordance with SECDEF and SECAF’s orders (referred to therein). You were directly ordered to do this no later than 10 January 2022, and you failed to do so,” the letter to the chaplain scolded.

The active-duty major previously had sought a religious exemption in order to opt-out of the vaccination. That exemption was denied. The chaplain then went through appropriate channels to appeal the denial, but the appeal was denied by the Pentagon.

“The Department of the Air Force has a compelling government interest in requiring you to comply with the COVID-19 immunization requirement because preventing the spread of the disease among the force is vital to mission accomplishment. Specifically, in light of your circumstances, your present duty assignment requires intermittent to frequent contact with others and is not fully achievable via telework or with adequate distancing,” the appeal denial states.

According to the major’s attorney, the chaplain believes that the vaccine requirement is an unlawful order and could even disqualify him from being a pastor in the future. Therefore, he is obliged by both his conscience and his faith to refuse the order.

“He believes that submitting to an unlawful order would violate his oath to support and defend the Constitution and would make him disqualified to serve as an ordained pastor in the future,” Younts said. “Despite the fact that he is facing punishment and discharge, he believes that he must take this stand for his faith and for all the Airmen he has ministered to. He does not believe that he could ever preach to military members or any congregation again if he compromised his faith and was not a voice for the voiceless.”

President Joe Biden and the Pentagon first mandated military personnel to receive the experimental COVID-19 vaccines in August. According to the president, the military needs to remain on a wartime footing, and “being vaccinated will enable our service members to stay healthy, to better protect their families, and to ensure that our force is ready to operate anywhere in the world.”

The military does offer religious exemptions, but, MilitaryTimes reports, those exemptions have been hard to obtain.

A December 19 piece explains: “The services, urgently trying to keep the coronavirus pandemic in check by getting troops vaccinated, are now besieged with exemption requests they are unlikely to approve. Meanwhile, troops claiming religious reasons for avoiding the shots are perplexed because exemptions are theoretically available, yet seem impossible to obtain.”

According to the unnamed chaplain, the Air Force, in particular, has simply been issuing blanket denials for religious exemptions to the vaccines, instead of evaluating each case individually. Air Force Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Brandi King also complained about the branch’s seemingly universal religious-exemption denials and has filed a discrimination complaint, claiming that she lost a plum assignment due to her vaccine stance.

“Our military is being purged of those who dare to be faithful to their Heavenly Creator and Savior over the earthly authorities within the government and military,” Younts, who also represents King, said. “This information should wake up anyone who believes their God-given, constitutionally recognized freedoms will continue to be protected by our military.”

Student Sues High School Principal for Violating His First Amendment Rights to Free Speech and Religion

BY BOB ADELMANN

David Stout, a junior at Plainwell High School in Michigan, was suspended for three days last fall as punishment for expressing his religious beliefs in a private conversation with a friend. When his parents learned about his suspension, and the details behind the school’s action, they enlisted the assistance of the Great Lakes Justice Center.

After reviewing the background, which extends back to April 2021, the attorneys took on the case and filed suit last Thursday, claiming that the school’s principal, assistant principal, and band director all violated Stout’s First Amendment right to express his beliefs:

A foundational core of our Constitutional Republic is that the State cannot punish its citizens for engaging in speech that is protected by the First Amendment.

The 29-page complaint provided the court with all the details. Last April, Stout, a self-proclaimed Christian who is active as a football player and bandleader at the school, responded to a question texted to him by a Christian friend about the Bible’s teaching on homosexuality.

From the complaint:

On or about April 28, 2021, Plaintiff [Stout], using his own smartphone, participated in a series of private group chat/text sessions with these friends from school.

At one point during this group session, one of these children asked to speak with Plaintiff in a private text.

Once Plaintiff began texting with this other child, Plaintiff was surprised that this friend, who was not homosexual, asked Plaintiff’s opinions and beliefs about this other child’s friends “being gay.”

Plaintiff stated that the Bible teaches that homosexual conduct is a sin and in the Christian context that God created only two biological genders — man and woman.

Plaintiff stated that while homosexual conduct is a sin, however, everyone is a sinner due to freewill choices, and he would pray for them “to repent and follow Jesus.” He also shared that he would extend love toward them because “God commands” it, as “Jesus died on the cross for them and extends His love toward them, and all they have to do is accept it.”

Plaintiff continued that “the Bible says at the end of days all will know the truth, every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.”

Stout’s response offended his friend, and the text conversation ended.

However, the next day Stout reached out to his friend in an attempt at reconciliation:

Although Plaintiff felt his friend was “discriminatory, selfish, and unkind,” Plaintiff did not want to lose his friendship. Thus, on April 29, 2021, Plaintiff contacted this child for another private chat/text session.

Plaintiff began by expressing that he still held his Christian opinions, but he respected his friend’s opinions as well.

Further, Plaintiff did not want to end his friendship with this other student because of a disagreement, and he wanted to respect everyone’s opinions even if they disagreed so they could remain friends.

At no time was this conversation made public. It was private, occurred off-campus, and was well within Stout’s First Amendment rights. Said the complaint: “Plaintiff never posted or otherwise distributed any of the content of this private chat/text to any public social media site, to the school, to other band members, to the student body, or to any other person.”

When school officials learned about the conversation (probably from Stout’s “friend”), they called Stout in for several “conversations,” which ultimately led to his being suspended for three days in October.

Following the filing of the complaint on Thursday, Stout’s lawyer, David Kallman, issued a statement to the media:

My client’s religious speech and beliefs should be treated with tolerance and respect. Public schools may not violate the Constitution and enforce a heckler’s veto of student speech.

Nothing David did caused any disruption or problem at the school. He has the right to express his opinion in accordance with his sincerely held religious beliefs, without vilification or punishment from the government for holding to those beliefs.

Kallman expanded on the case:

David was suspended for three days last fall for stating his Christian beliefs in a private text conversation and in a hallway at school. He is also being punished for not policing and reporting the inappropriate jokes of fellow students.

He was instructed to stop posting his religious comments on all his social media platforms, and was disciplined for the offensive behavior of some other students; something he was unaware of and did not participate in.

David is a good student with a clean record. Nothing he did caused a disruption or any problem at the school. He has the right to express his opinion in accordance with his religious beliefs without vilification or punishment from the government.

Kallman’s lawsuit is asking the court to declare the school’s principal, assistant principal, and band director’s “actions … unconstitutional and that [they] violated [Stout’s] fundamental constitutional rights,” and to find “that [they] acted outside the scope of their authority.”

The suit also demands that the school expunge Stout’s school records of any mention of the incident, pay all of his attorney’s fees and court costs, and “grant such other and further relief as is just and appropriate.”

That would include exacting promises from the school’s officials not to punish Stout as retribution during his remaining year for bringing them to task for their unconscionable, illegal, and unconstitutional acts.

'Convoy to DC 2022' Gaining Steam as American Truckers Begin to Organize

There is perhaps no better representative of America’s spirit than the rebels of the road, American truckers. So it makes perfect sense that they would be at the forefront of organizing an anti-vaccine mandate caravan that will start in California sometime next month and roll into Washington, D.C. some weeks later.

Although Joe Biden’s national mandate was defeated in the Supreme Court, many individual companies are still demanding employees get vaccinated. In addition, both the U.S. and Canadian governments currently require truckers to be vaccinated in order to traverse our common border. The goal of the rolling protest will simply be to make being injected with a vaccine an individual choice, mandated by no one. This is the essence of what it means to be an American — individuals making their own choices, using their own judgment about whether something is in their best interest or not, without a “by your leave” from the government or anyone else.

It’s hoped that Joe Biden won’t make the same ghastly mistake that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made when he tried to portray the truckers who drove to Parliament Hill in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, as racist yahoos.

The only problem is that those “racists” are feeding the homeless in Ottawa.

“There is no place in our country for threats, violence, or hatred,” said Trudeau, adding that the convoy was “not representative of a majority of truckers, 90 percent of whom are vaccinated.”

But there’s plenty of room for a prime minister who appeared in blackface.

We can expect the efforts to nip this convoy in the bud to continue and intensify. This will only make the convoy bigger. Americans hate being told to sit down and shut up. Anyone saw a school board meeting lately?

Pharmacists Ingest Woke Poison

Their new oath embraces the woke racism of “anti-racism” and “health equity.”

BY MATTHEW VADUM

SEE: https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/2022/02/pharmacists-ingest-woke-poison-matthew-vadum/;

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational & research purposes:

Un-American woke values have been infecting popular culture, governments, and corporations at an astonishing pace for some time but now they are spreading with potentially deadly consequences to the professions that provide medical care and the schools that train those professionals.

Race-based health policy got a big booster when COVID-19 arrived on the scene.

The pandemic became “a testbed for deploying racist equity measures like determining vaccine and medication distribution by race,” Daniel Greenfield recently wrote.

For example, the Centers for Disease Control, National Institutes of Health, and National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine “produced a framework which claimed that ‘COVID-19 illnesses and deaths are strongly associated with race’ due to ‘systemic racism’ and that it was the job of the medical system to reduce these ‘health inequities.’”

The argument is that “minorities, especially black people, are disadvantaged, and that moving them to the head of the line will remedy the ‘inequity.’”

The most recent case in point is the profession of pharmacy, whose practitioners have traditionally dispensed healing medicines. Now they are expected to dispense social justice.

In the United States, the profession has adopted a new official Oath of a Pharmacist intended “to incorporate contemporary language and address diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism,” according to a joint statement issued December 16, 2021, by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The new wording of the oath, which is to be used for all spring 2022 pharmacy school commencement ceremonies, was approved by a joint AACP and APhA oath revision steering committee and approved by their boards in November 2021.

The relevant part of the new oath, now freighted with neo-Marxist cant, states: “I promise to devote myself to a lifetime of service to others through the profession of pharmacy. In fulfilling this vow: I will consider the welfare of humanity and relief of suffering my primary concerns. I will promote inclusion, embrace diversity, and advocate for justice to advance health equity.”

Oddly enough, the words “diversity,” “equity” as part of “health equity,” and “inclusion,” appear in the oath, but “antiracism” does not.

Perhaps the word “antiracism” is absent from the pledge because in the leftist mind it is implied by the language in the oath.

Social justice profiteer Lakesha M. Butler, director of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville School of Pharmacy, sat on a committee that redrafted the previous oath.

“The joint committee led a critical charge of boldly expanding our professional oath to include the necessary elements of DEIA,” Butler said in a press release from her university. “The revised oath charges all pharmacists to take an active responsibility in promoting health equity and commit to being change agents in the system of pharmacy practice and beyond.”

So pharmacists now apparently use the acronym DEIA to stand for diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism.

Antiracism, as expounded by its most prominent advocate, $20,000 per hour lecturer Ibram X. Kendi (born Ibram Henry Rogers), is “a simplistic reiteration of critical race theory’s core concepts,” writes Christopher Rufo at City Journal. Kendi’s thesis is that “if the races are equal, then racial disparities can owe only to racism and must be rectified through ‘antiracist discrimination.’”

According to those in the topsy-turvy world of antiracism, whites hold the power in America, a country which itself is systemically racist, and engaging in racial discrimination against whites doesn’t count as racism – it’s actually praiseworthy behavior.

After drug-addled career criminal George Floyd, who happened to be a black man, happened to die of fentanyl poisoning after rough handling by the Minneapolis police, sparking a series of leftist-led riots nationwide that caused more than $2 billion in damage, Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, took the opportunity to use the incident to condemn America as a racist hellhole.

Racism is a longstanding systemic structure in this country that must be dismantled, through brutally honest conversations, policy changes, and practices,” he stated in a May 29, 2020 press release. “Racism attacks people’s physical and mental health. And racism is an ongoing public health crisis that needs our attention now!”

“We see discrimination every day in all aspects of life, including housing, education, the criminal justice system, and employment,” Benjamin continued. “And it is amplified during this pandemic as communities of color face inequities in everything from a greater burden of COVID-19 cases to less access to testing, treatment, and care.”

The high priests of wokeness regard everything in America as racist, even the medical field.

Disturbing evidence of this kind of thinking ran in the medical journal, the Lancet, on October 10, 2020, in an article titled “From race-based to race-conscious medicine: how anti-racist uprisings call us to act,” as Black Lives Matter was burning cities to the ground.

“The brutalization of Jacob Blake and murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmad Arbery, Tony McDade, and countless others—coupled with horrifying statistics about the disproportionate burden of COVID-19 on Black and Brown communities—have forced the USA and the world to reckon with how structural racism conditions survival,” the article begins.

Of course, the individuals cited above are not victims supporting the claim of “structural racism.”

Blake is an alleged rapist wanted on a felony warrant who was shot several times by police during a domestic disturbance investigation. He was armed with a knife. The U.S. Department of Justice said in October 2021 it wouldn’t be bringing charges against the white shooter, police officer Rusten Sheskey.

Floyd was a drug-addled career criminal who died in Minneapolis police custody in May 2020 after resisting arrest. White police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted in the death but medical evidence showed the Fentanyl in Floyd’s system killed him.

Taylor was killed by police in a botched drug raid after her accomplice-sometime boyfriend fired on police. There is no proof racial animus had anything to do with it, despite the public relations campaign conducted by Oprah Winfrey aimed at whipping up racial hostility in the case.

Three white men were convicted of murder and given life sentences on January 7 of this year in the February 23, 2020 killing of Ahmad Arbery. While race was apparently a factor in their crimes, they were not police officers, so the “structural racism” argument goes out the window.

McDade, who was reportedly born female but identified as male, was a suspect in the fatal stabbing of Malik Johnson and was killed by police investigating the stabbing scene who said the suspect was found with a bloody knife and a gun. On September 3, 2020, a grand jury found that the policeman’s use of force was justified. A self-recorded video showed the suspect contemplating committing suicide by cop, promising to die “through a shootout … because I don’t want to be here on earth.” A police bodycam showed McDade with a gun during a confrontation with police but was not recording when he allegedly pointed a gun at police and fired.

Although the examples cited failed to show proof of “structural racism,” the Lancet article continued, assuming the accusation was true.

“Although clinicians often imagine themselves as beneficent caregivers, it is increasingly clear that medicine is not a stand-alone institution immune to racial inequities, but rather is an institution of structural racism.”

This is the way it goes with this kind of thing. Racial hoaxes are perpetrated routinely by the Left to advance their various causes.

Now pharmacists have become complicit in this dishonest push.

On January 18 AACP and APhA hosted what they described as “a profession-wide virtual event for all pharmacists, faculty members, administrators, and student pharmacists to reaffirm their commitment to the oath.”

Butler led the brief indoctrination session on Facebook Live. Butler’s LinkedIn profile, which proudly displays her pronouns as “she/her/hers” in case there was any doubt, lists her as CEO and founder of her own consultancy “whose mission is to disrupt and dismantle inequities and injustices in healthcare and higher education.”

“This is personal for me as we are not just reciting words,” Butler said during the online event.

“But this is an important step for all members of our profession to take an active role in promoting health equity and commit to being change agents for the patients that we serve. All patients that we serve, directly and indirectly, need us more than ever.”

This thing called “health equity” is a variant of social justice ideology that one source has defined as “the absence of unfair and avoidable or remediable differences in health among population groups defined socially, economically, demographically or geographically.”

In other words, health equity seems aimed at eliminating the myriad differences that make every individual person unique.

John Sailer, a researcher at the National Association of Scholars (NAS), studies the politicization of medical schools. NAS characterizes its mission as “uphold[ing] the standards of a liberal arts education that fosters intellectual freedom, searches for the truth, and promotes virtuous citizenship.”

The changed pharmacists’ oath “is an especially stark example of a quickly accelerating trend—the blending of politics and medicine,” Sailer told this writer.

“Already, medical schools across the country are bending their curricula and practice to promote the ambiguous but politically charged notion of ‘health equity.’ It’s no surprise that the AACP and APhA have followed suit—though requiring a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and health equity in an oath is something of an innovation,” he said.

“Ultimately, the move subordinates science to the goal of social justice. Inevitably, this will further politicize medicine and science, and, in the long run, that hurts everyone.”

How this ideological push will affect pharmacists’ jobs and the prescriptions that Americans take is not yet clear.

But it cannot be a good thing.

U.S. public debt topped $30 trillion for the first time, reaching $30.01 trillion on Jan. 31, Treasury Department data released on Tuesday indicated, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Throughout the pandemic, the U.S. government spent $7 trillion on COVID-19 relief to avert a recession.

The $30 trillion debt milestone comes at a time when many of the COVID-19 relief programs have expired. Lawmakers now find themselves “at a time of transition for U.S. fiscal and monetary policy,” WSJ says.

Investors are also awaiting signals from the Federal Reserve as to when it will begin raising short-term interest rates, now near zero, to tamp down inflation, now running at 7%.

'Jaw-Dropping Number'

Commenting on the $30 trillion groundbreaking figure, Maya MacGuineas, president of the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, tells WSJ: “This is a jaw-dropping number that is a real cause for concern. It is the result of both borrowings for really important crises—most notably the COVID pandemic—but also trillions and trillions of borrowing for no reason other than politicians [who] have stopped being willing to pay the bills.”

Michael Peterson, chief executive of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, another nonpartisan group, adds, “The milestone of $30 trillion in debt should be a giant red flag for all of us about America’s future economic health, generational equity, and role in the world.”

During both the Trump and the Biden administrations, Congress authorized trillions in relief to assist small businesses, unemployed workers, parents, and renters, primarily through the expanded child tax credit, enhanced unemployment benefits, and the Paycheck Protection Program.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told the World Economic Forum in January: “In response to the downturn in the economy induced by the pandemic, we felt, and I strongly believe, that it was appropriate to engage in spending that wasn’t financed by tax increases.”

Yellen added that due to the current low-interest-rate environment, Treasury believes the U.S. debt is “very manageable.”

US Deficit Now 12.4% of GDP

According to the Congressional Budget Office, before the pandemic, in the fiscal year ended September 2019, the U.S. deficit was 4.7% of gross domestic product (GDP). In the fiscal year ended September 2021, the federal budget deficit of $2.8 trillion had grown to 12.4% of U.S. GDP.

It is this concern over the U.S. deficit that has kept Congress from passing President Biden’s $2 trillion Build Back Better infrastructure bill including provisions for education, health care, and climate change, according to WSJ.
