Taliban Minister: U.S. Must ‘Come and Rebuild the Afghan Economy’

Didn’t we already build the Afghan economy? And finance the Taliban? But enough is never enough.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai said the US is responsible for the existing crisis in Afghanistan and that the US should play an active role in the Afghan economy because Afghanistan’s economy was damaged over the past 20 years.

“It is the duty of the world, especially the US, to play an active role in the construction of Afghanistan; as it damaged our economy in the past 20 years, now it is their responsibility to come and rebuild the Afghan economy,” Stanikzai said.

But of course, Biden will do just that. The media has kept up a steady drumbeat of claiming that we have to save Afghanistan from a famine. That will be followed by claims that the only way to fight radicalization in Afghanistan is by investing in their private sector.

According to Stanikzai, the US pledged during the Doha talks that it would recognize the next Islamic system in the country and keep its (US) embassy open in Kabul.

The Taliban also pledged that they wouldn’t conquer Afghanistan.

But negotiating with terrorists means that they’ll break every agreement and demand that we keep our end of it anyway.
