If one of those fabled white supremacist terrorists that Biden’s handlers keep telling us are the biggest terror threat in America today had been caught plotting to bomb a mosque, you can bet you would have heard about it. But the news Thursday that a Muslim named Mustafa Mousab Alowemer pleaded guilty to a jihad plot to bomb a Pittsburgh church, the Legacy International Worship Center, got little notice. That’s no surprise: the story doesn’t fit the narrative of either Biden’s handlers or the establishment media, which is that there is no significant jihad terror threat, and a much bigger problem is the “Islamophobia” of Trump’s bloodthirsty MAGA legions. Back in the real world, the guilty plea is a small reminder of what the real threat really is.

There is another reason why both the administration and the media would rather have this story go away, amid the chaos at the Southern border and just after the catastrophe in Afghanistan: Alowemer, 23, came to the United States from Syria as a refugee when he was 18. Yet he doesn’t exactly fit the image of a grateful refugee, eager to become a part of our glorious multicultural mosaic. He told investigators, according to the criminal complaint against him, that “his motivation to detonate a device at the Church was to support the cause of ISIS and to inspire other ISIS sympathizers in the United States to join together and commit similar acts in the name of ISIS.” He added that he “also targeted the Church, which he described as Christian and Nigerian, in order to ‘take revenge for our [ISIS] brothers in Nigeria.’” Christians are suffering fierce persecution from Muslims in Nigeria, but as far as Alowemer was concerned, this meant only that they were infidels at war with Allah, and he thirsted for revenge.

The young jihadi wanted to maximize the casualty count. The Associated Press reported that Alowemer had “detailed plans” to bomb the church, including a particularly cruel touch: “Federal prosecutors said at the plea hearing that he talked about potentially planting a second explosive device, timing the detonation to coincide with when first responders would begin to arrive.”

The criminal complaint also inadvertently reveals the cluelessness of the FBI regarding the beliefs, motives, and goals of Islamic jihadists. It states:

In or around April 2018, the FBI identified a social networking account with display name “Mustafa Alowemer” as likely belonging to Alowemer. Notably, the “Intro” section of the social networking account included a phrase in Arabic text that an FBI linguist translated as “hoping to Allah that he dies in a way that does not require the traditional funeral cleansing and burial rituals.” This same FBI linguist interpreted this statement to mean that Alowemer wanted to die by being blown up, which would render traditional Islamic funeral rituals unnecessary or impossible.

Well, yes, but the FBI linguist seems to have omitted the key point: In a tradition, Muhammad ordered that the bodies of the martyrs are not to be washed, as the blood and gore with which they may be covered is attractive to the virgins of paradise. Alowemer didn’t necessarily have to be blown up, but simply to die in the process of killing infidels, as the Qur’an promises paradise to those who “kill and are killed” for Allah (9:111). If Alowemer had succeeded in mounting his attack and the FBI was there expecting him to try to blow himself up, they could have been completely wrongfooted.

Anyway, Alowemer was forthright in this social media account about his desire to wage jihad. He wrote: “Indeed, I ask Allah to relief [sic] us and grant us Nafir,” that is, the ability to answer the call to wage jihad. He considered doing so outside the country, at one point asking: “If I want to do Nafir to Turkey and then to Syria or Iraq, do you know someone who can help me?” But ultimately he decided to stage his jihad right in the country that had welcomed him and showered benefits upon him to enable him to start a new life far from a war zone.

Now that Alowemer has pleaded guilty, will investigators go on to other cases, or will they try to determine where Mustafa Mousab Alowemer learned his understanding of Islam? Where did he get the idea that it would be a good idea to pledge allegiance to the Islamic State? Has his mosque been investigated? Why not?

And above all, will Biden’s handlers consider the implications of a young jihadi targeting Christians in the United States for murder after coming here as a refugee? Will they redouble their efforts to vet the Afghan evacuees and other refugees properly, and make new efforts to ensure that no jihadis will enter the country? Don’t be silly. That would be “Islamophobic.”

China Joe Gives America the Middle Finger

This weekend, I watched horrific videos of Afghans being murdered by the Taliban. Meanwhile, the State Department has withheld permission for privately arranged flights to leave Afghanistan and refuses to accept Afghans with valid documents who are still stuck in Afghanistan, while simultaneously acknowledging that many of the approximately 73,500 Afghans and other civilians the U.S. brought out of Afghanistan by the contrived August 31 deadline have not been properly vetted, and likely never will be.

Many of these “refugees” are already showing their true colors, as incidents of violent crime, including assault and rape, have skyrocketed at the American military bases where these people have been temporarily housed. According to one whistleblower, base security is being threatened, as Afghan migrants are free to roam. Afghan men have also brought child brides with them. Meanwhile, approximately 5,500 Americans were brought out of Afghanistan. But many weren’t — and along with U.S. permanent residents still stuck there, they number in the thousands, not the Biden administration’s claim of 200. Blinken has finally acknowledged about 5,000 green card holders are still there.

To add insult to injury, Biden has announced his intention to raise the 2022 refugee cap (the number of refugees allowed to resettle in the U.S.) to 125,000. With Biden’s open contempt for any and all security measures, some of these Middle Eastern “refugees” will likely be jihadis. All this is while over 12,000 illegal aliens sit under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas, waiting to be processed, countless thousands flood the border elsewhere, and cartels have free rein to engage in human trafficking and import vast quantities of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs.

None of this is by mistake.

There are so many places where the Biden administration has created unprecedented crises, it is difficult to catalog them all. Even someone as addled and grossly incompetent as Joe Biden could not create such bad policies or stumble over one self-caused calamity after another by mistake. This is a deliberate agenda.

Is our nation being currently led by an agent of a hostile foreign power: Red China? The heavy hand of Communist China can be seen moving in the shadows everywhere. And the Biden administration is not even hiding it.

For example, in July, Biden nominated University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutman to be his ambassador to Germany. Is this a quid pro quo for the $900,000 no-show “job” Biden got as a “professor of practice” at UPenn in 2018, or is there something more sinister at work?

Gutman has been president of UPenn since 2004 and receives the highest salary, $4 million, of any Ivy League president. In 2018, she welcomed the establishment of UPenn’s Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. Biden appointed Anthony Blinken to be its Managing Director.

Between 2017 and 2019, Communist China donated at least $67 million to UPenn. $22 million of this came from undisclosed sources the university illegally refuses to name, including $14.5 million from one individual. (The Higher Education Act requires disclosure of foreign donations greater than $250,000.) The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) asserts that the Biden Center was funded with this money. Matt Gaetz has called for an investigation of the Center, but few other Republicans have said a word.

As managing director of the Biden Center, Blinken would likely know the source of these funds. Furthermore, at the same time, Blinken was working for WestExec Advisors, a consulting firm he co-founded, where he was directly involved in soliciting funds for universities from Communist China. He has refused to answer any NLPC questions about the money and was not pressed about it at all in his Senate confirmation hearings. Finally, the Biden Center co-sponsored a Penn Global China Summit in early 2020, when China was still denying its role in spreading the China Virus. Chinese Consul General Huang Ping was invited to give the keynote address — a flowery piece of propaganda if ever there was one. The Biden Center has an unmistakable pro-China tilt.

NLPC President Peter Flaherty charges that Blinken should resign given his obviously close ties to Communist China. The Biden administration’s disastrous Afghanistan orders — mostly coming from the State Department — are getting credentialed Afghan partners of ours killed by the Taliban right now as we speak, while those they brought to the U.S. are wreaking havoc on our military bases.

And now we discover that the jihadi suicide bomber who killed 13 Americans and 169 Afghan civilians was released from prison at Bagram airfield by the Taliban after Biden ordered its secret evacuation in the middle of the night. The drone strike supposedly intended to get revenge on ISIS-K for the attack instead killed an aid worker and his family, including seven children. The Leftist media has struggled to excuse this gross error, unlike when President Trump dispatched Iranian terror leaders Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandis with no civilian collateral damage. The media was up in arms over those killings.

Both Blinken and Biden have American and Afghan blood on their hands. The exit from Afghanistan was designed to assure our failure there after 20 years of fighting. No other conclusion can reasonably be drawn. As I document in my new book, Who Was Karl Marx? The Men, the Motives and the Menace Behind Today’s Rampaging American Left, the Democrat agenda has become one and the same with that of the international Communist movement — both are dedicated to America’s collapse.

The hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan has created the best-armed terrorist group in the world. But most importantly, our betrayal of our Afghan partners sends a chilling message to anyone allied with the U.S., that we are no longer to be trusted. This will in turn force them to reconsider whom to support: a crippled America, or our enemies who are now showing renewed resilience and strength.

On a practical level, the Biden administration was also likely influenced by China’s desire to take over in Afghanistan the minute we left. Afghanistan has copious rare earth elements (REE) essential to high-tech electronics, especially military technology, and a wealth of other natural resources. The revolution in battery technology and increasing calls to abandon the internal combustion engine in favor of electric vehicles will create a larger REE demand than ever. China will now be well-positioned to profit from this, thanks to Biden and Blinken.

It is worth mentioning here that prior to the Trump administration, China had a virtual monopoly in the mining and refining of REEs. This occurred thanks to a decision by then-president Bill Clinton to sell our REE manufacturing processes, along with the sole American company producing them, to Communist China. Clinton also shut down the U.S. Bureau of Mines in 1996, which had been leading research and development of REEs. Under President Trump, this was all reversed. America became the second-largest REE miner in the world and was set to increase its refining capacity, where China still holds a 90 percent monopoly. We can kiss all this goodbye now and will have to revert to a beggar-thy-neighbor relationship with China to obtain REEs — a position we have been put in by another American traitor, Bill Clinton.

China is also thrilled with our Afghanistan pullout simply because we no longer have a base of operations on China’s Western flank. It will be much more difficult for us to project power in that part of the world with Bagram Air Base out of the picture. The Biden administration knows all of this. China has increasingly threatened neighboring Taiwan. Afghanistan is just another signal that Biden will do nothing to stop them. Look for Taiwan to perish next.

The Biden folks are nothing if not brazen in their bald-faced lies. In a 2017 New York Times opinion piece, Blinken claimed that President Trump was “ceding global leadership to China.” In retrospect, this would be hilarious were it not so disastrous, because while President Trump was the first since Reagan to actually stand up to Communist China, Joe Biden and Tony Blinken have basically given away the entire store to China. Interestingly, in its profile of Tony Blinken, Wikipedia makes no mention of his prominent role in the Biden Center operations. Just another example of media disinformation by omission.

But it doesn’t end there. Many top Biden and Obama associates working for the Biden administration wiled away their time receiving salaries from the Biden Center as a sort of government-in-waiting during the Trump administration. Now up for Senate confirmation is the current Biden Center Director, Michael Carpenter. If confirmed, he will be U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Senate Republicans need to do the job they failed to do with Blinken and demand Carpenter disclose China’s anonymous donors and how much went to the Biden Center.

There are other pro-China Biden appointments that have flown under the radar. One of the most important is Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. Haaland is a former Congressional Representative from New Mexico (2019-2021) who also led the New Mexico Democrat Party. Trevor Loudon has produced a stinging documentary on Haaland’s Communist affiliations and calls her “one of the most dangerous women to ever serve in the U.S. Cabinet.”

Haaland has a longstanding association with the Communist Party USA, and relied on support from CPUSA Vice-Chair Judith LeBlanc to gain both her Congressional seat and her appointment in the Biden administration. The CPUSA, and by extension Haaland herself, is very much aligned with the goals of the Chinese Communist Party. Loudon notes that as Interior Secretary, Haaland “has oversight over roughly 20 percent of America’s natural resources, including energy resources… mining rights on public lands… Indian reservations, global warming policy, border control, you name it. It’s an extremely important position.”

None of this should really surprise anyone who has been paying attention. As documented in my new book on Marx, Joe Biden has been a radically anti-American leftist since his first run for office. As Trevor Loudon detailed in his 2020 book, White House Reds, Communists, Socialists & Security Risks Running for President 2020:

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden owes his political career to the CLW [Council for a Livable World], an organization created by alleged Soviet agent Leo Szilard, supported by money from Al Gore Sr., who in turn was funded by the Soviet Union’s best friend in the United States, Armand Hammer.

Joe Biden has viciously thrust his middle finger at America. We had better wake up soon, or another 9/11-style attack within our borders will be the least of our worries.

Taliban Names UN Envoy; Requests to Address General Assembly This Week

In another sign of the times, the Taliban — the militant Islamic terrorist group which now runs most of Afghanistan — has named a special envoy to the United Nations and is requesting to address the UN’s General Assembly this week as world leaders convene in New York City.

On September 20, Suhail Shaheen, who currently serves as the Taliban’s spokesperson in Qatar, was nominated to be the terror group’s ambassador to the UN.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres first received word on September 15 from the former Afghan government’s ambassador, Ghulam Isaczai, regarding who would be attending this week’s meeting in New York.

On Monday, Guterres received a letter from the Taliban’s new foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi. The new foreign minister disputed the former ambassador’s claim to the diplomatic credentials and requested to speak with the General Assembly.

Reportedly, the letter explains that the former government and its president, Ashraf Ghani, had been “ousted” as of August 15 and that countries across the world “no longer recognize him as president.” Therefore, Isaczai should no longer represent Afghanistan at the UN.

Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesman for Guterres, confirmed receipt of the communication and has sent both requests to the nine-member UN credentials committee.

“The Secretary-General received a communication with the letterhead ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ dated 20 September 2021, signed by ‘Ameer Khan Muttaqi’ as ‘Minister of Foreign Affairs,’ requesting to participate in the ’76th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21-27 2021,'” Dujarric said.

No meeting of that credentials committee, which includes members from the United States, China, and Russia, has yet been scheduled, making it unlikely that the Taliban’s new foreign minister will address the UN during this week’s meeting.

Few nations have yet recognized the Taliban’s new government, but the Islamic terrorist group is working hard to garner that recognition. The UN and the Taliban are reportedly working together to provide food and other aid amid a burgeoning humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country, for instance.

And of course, the U.S. government says it is still communicating with the group in an effort to evacuate American citizens and Afghan allies who remain in the country.

But the Taliban’s subjugation of women and its brutal cultural edicts are bound to keep many countries from offering formal recognition.

Last week, approximately two dozen former Afghan diplomats released a statement pleading with countries not to legitimize the Taliban’s new government with any formal recognition.

In that statement, the diplomats ask that the world “Not further legitimize the Taliban by recognizing their interim government in Kabul. Recognizing the so-called Islamic Emirate of the Taliban will not only legitimize the group but also validate their suppressive regime and forceful subjugation of the Afghan people to their rule. The Taliban is a terrorist group. Most of the Taliban leaders and members of their interim government are on the UN sanction list as terrorists.”

In addition, a group of GOP lawmakers is urging the Biden administration not to recognize the Taliban’s new government. In a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a group led by Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) expressed their concerns.

“Since reestablishing control of Afghanistan, the Taliban resumed the same murderous and oppressive habits that characterized their leadership tenure prior to the arrival of U.S. forces in 2001,” the group, which includes Senators Ernst, Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), wrote.

A quick recognition of the new “Islamic Emirate of the Taliban” seems unlikely — at least in America. With Americans still trapped in the country, it’s unlikely that even the Biden administration would make such a gigantic mistake.

But the United Nations may be a different story. Only nine members of the 15 member Security Council must agree to the Taliban’s inclusion at the UN. Certainly, the United States has veto power over that inclusion, but can we trust this administration to veto the Taliban’s membership after it simply gave them Afghanistan?

Perhaps soon, we’ll see a representative from the Taliban seated on the UN’s Human Rights Council alongside other paragons of human rights such as China, Cuba, Pakistan, and Venezuela.

Who’s Dishonorable? Biden Wants Troops Refusing “Vaccine” DISHONORABLY Discharged

“Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do and die,” wrote poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson in 1854. While the line implies that military men must do their duty and obey superiors regardless of cost, we know there are such things as illegal orders. There are also irrational, suicidal orders, such as the event inspiring Tennyson’s line: the disastrous charge of a Light Brigade during the Crimean War’s Battle of Balaclava. Yet while that tragedy resulted from innocent blunders, many wouldn’t say the same about another irrational order: the Biden administration’s directive that all American servicemen be “vaccinated” against SARS-CoV-2 despite soldiers being at greater risk of dying of suicide than COVID-19.

And now the administration wants the Pentagon to be able to court-martial any serviceman who resists.

The Daily Mail summarizes the story:

  • The House is set to vote on the NDAA, the Pentagon’s annual defense budget, this week
  • The Pentagon last month mandated that all 1.4 million service members get vaccinated
  • An amendment passed during committee markup prohibits giving service members who refuse a vaccine anything but an honorable discharge
  • White House said that ‘commanders must have the ability to give orders and take appropriate disciplinary measures,’ including enforcing the vaccine mandate
  • The White House also took issue with a section of the bill that exempts those who have had a previous Covid-19 infection from the vaccine mandate

“Since the Pentagon’s announcing of the mandate, different branches have imposed different deadlines for vaccinations,” the Mail also informs. “Active duty members of the Army will have to be vaccinated by Dec. 15, while active-duty members of the Air Force will have to get their shot by Nov. 2. Active-duty Marines and Navy sailors have to get their jab by Nov. 28, while reservists have until Dec. 28.”

“Reserve Air Force personnel have to get their shot by Dec. 2 while reserve members of the Army have until next June,” the paper continues.

Republicans generally oppose the bill, of course, with the GOP’s more patriotic and Truth-oriented Freedom Caucus ardently against it. In fact, the group “released a statement urging GOP members to vote against the NDAA to hold the Biden administration ‘accountable’ for the frenzied Afghanistan withdrawal, to fight against ‘turning our military into a progressive social experiment,’ and to protest an amendment that adds women to the draft,” the Mail further relates.

As for military members’ opposition to administration policy, obviously, discipline and obedience within the ranks are imperatives, and top brass must be able to lay down the law. It’s also true that deciding to disobey orders is always a serious matter, as a serviceman thus proceeding is stepping beyond his normal role and assessing policy.

Yet soldiers aren’t merely automatons but are rational beings with intellect and free will. As such, they can and will make moral judgments about orders.

As to this, again, there’s every indication the Light Brigade fiasco was caused by superiors operating in good faith. Yet can the same be said of the genetic-therapy agent (GTA, a.k.a. “vaccine”) mandate?

A serviceman studying the issue may know that he and his fellows are at virtually no China virus risk. The CDC essentially related this fact back in October, providing data recently confirmed by Stanford University epidemiologist Dr. John Ioannidis. In fact, the 0 to 19 age group, into which some military members fall, has a China virus survival rate of 99.997 percent. The 20 to 49 age group, which includes virtually all other servicemen, has a 99.98-percent survivability rate.

Note that more than 600,000 of our 1.4 million active-duty military personnel are 25 or younger.

Also note that, if anything, their China virus survivability may be even greater than indicated above because servicemen are healthier than the general population.

An informed military member also may know that contrary to health authorities’ past claims, the GTAs efficacy and safety are highly questionable. In fact, stories of GTA-coincident complications and even deaths are now legion, and FDA advisory panel member Steve Kirsch recently stated that the GTAs “kill more people than they save.”

Given this, many servicemen may ask, “Did I sign up to be a guinea pig?”

Influencing this judgment are the pigs “more equal than others.” Morale won’t be high and a disobedient spirit low unless servicemen can respect their superiors. Yet in recent years they’ve been spat upon by their leadership, civilian and military. They were forced to stand down for 60 days to ferret out alleged “extremism” and were unfairly maligned as having “white supremacists” in their ranks, have had Critical Race Theory and other “woke” ideology foisted upon them, and have witnessed the military become a testing ground for sexual devolutionary social engineering.

Moreover, they’ve seen how the top brass commit transgressions with impunity. Most notable is General Mark Milley’s phone call with a Chinese general, in which he arguably descended into treason by promising to warn Beijing if the United States planned to attack. There are no signs Manchurian Milley will be punished in any way.

Would you buy a used GTA mandate from these people? Servicemen just may conclude that if “rule”-breaking is good enough for wizened and woke generals way past their sell-by date, it’s good enough for them, too.

And what of the moral aspect of defying orders? The answer is in the question. “Morality,” properly understood, implies recognition of a measure above man. Worldly authority always ends where divine law begins.

Of course, this is often a difficult judgment call. So perhaps the answer is that military members have to follow their consciences in these matters — and upper echelon superiors must follow their consciences in deciding consequences.

If only we could believe that, with the GTA mandate, it is conscience with our “leaders” and not just politics masquerading as principle.

Killing Children with Safety: Child Obesity SOARED During COVID Lockdowns

Child obesity soared during the government-imposed COVID lockdowns last year, a new study shows.

According to the CDC, “the portion of 5-11-year-olds who are classified as overweight or obese is now 45.7 percent, up from 36.2 percent before the pandemic.”

That’s an increase of 25% in the rate of obesity among young children, by far the largest ever recorded.

Child Obesity Soared
(Chart courtesy of CDC.)

According to The74’s writeup of the study, “body mass index (a common measure of weight relative to height) in a sample of 430,000 children increased between March and November 2020 at nearly double the rate that it did before the pandemic began.”

Roughly 6 million American kids 11 and under entered the ranks of the obese in less than a year. You can safely bet that minority, urban kids were hit the hardest, given the severity of blue city lockdowns and the lack of backyards to play in.

Recommended: Another Russian Attack on America’s Food Supply—Because Nobody Takes Biden Seriously

The sobering fact is that weight is easy to gain, difficult to take off, and that obesity is a killer far worse than COVID for people of any age. Obesity can and does lead to Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and even certain cancers.

Nearly 50% of GenZ and under are sitting on a long-term health timebomb, in no small part because so many have been kept home, locked up, and made frightened of human contact.

Never mind the fact that kids barely get COVID, and die from it even less often.

The short version is that the lockdowns will kill far more of the youngest generation than COVID ever will.

About the only thing that compares to it also happened in 2020: An “unprecedented” spike in violent crime. Murders were up 29% last year over 2019, leaving 1968’s one-year record of 12.7% in the dust.

And we all know what kind of year 1968 was.

2020 was worse, none worse than for children.

Afghan Refugees Accused of Sex Abuse of Minors, Spouse Abuse

They didn’t leave Afghanistan very long ago, and so it is understandable that Bahrullah Noori and Mohammad Haroon Imaad, two Afghan evacuees at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, would behave as if they were still there. The Justice Department announced Wednesday that a federal grand jury in Wisconsin charged Noori with “attempting to engage in a sexual act with a minor using force against that person, and with three counts of engaging in a sexual act with a minor, with one count alleging the use of force.” Imaad was charged with “assaulting his spouse by strangling and suffocating her.” The alleged crimes took place at Fort McCoy, where Noori and Imaad have been staying in anticipation of being placed in some lucky American neighborhood. The Justice Department said nothing about how both men were just following religious and cultural norms that other Afghan refugees are likely to follow as well, or about the implications of that fact for the entire Afghan refugee resettlement project.

Noori’s victims, according to the indictment, “had not attained the age of 16 years and were at least four years younger than the defendant,” who is 20. No one in the establishment media will dare to talk about it, but the fact is that in the culture in which Noori was raised, an unmarried girl who is 16 is getting a bit long in the tooth. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported that over half of the girls in Afghanistan are married before they reach the age of eighteen. In early 2002, researchers in refugee camps in Afghanistan found half the girls married by age thirteen. In one camp, more than two out of three second-grade girls were either married or engaged, and virtually all the girls who were beyond second grade were already married. One ten-year-old was engaged to a man of sixty.

And it’s not just Afghanistan: child marriage has abundant attestation in Islamic tradition and law. Turkey’s directorate of religious affairs (Diyanet) said in January 2018 that under Islamic law, girls as young as nine can marry. Ishaq Akintola, professor of Islamic Eschatology and Director of Muslim Rights Concern, Nigeria, said in 2016: “Islam has no age barrier in marriage and Muslims have no apology for those who refuse to accept this.” Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-‘Ubeidi, Iraqi expert on Islamic law, said in 2008: “There is no minimum marriage age for either men or women in Islamic law. The law in many countries permits girls to marry only from the age of 18. This is arbitrary legislation, not Islamic law.”

Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, a prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, declared in 2014 that there is no minimum age for marriage in Islamic law at all and that girls can be married “even if they are in the cradle.” Pakistan’s Council of Islamic Ideology has ruled that “Islam does not forbid the marriage of young children.”

These authorities say these things because hadiths that Muslims consider authentic record that Muhammad’s favorite wife, Aisha, was six when Muhammad wedded her and nine when he consummated the marriage: “The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death)” (Bukhari 7.62.88).

Marrying young girls was not all that unusual for its time, but because in Islam Muhammad is the supreme example of conduct (cf. Qur’an 33:21), he is considered exemplary in this even today.

And regarding spousal abuse, the Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” (4:34)

Muhammad’s child bride, Aisha, says in a hadith that Muhammad “struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: ‘Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you?’” (Sahih Muslim 2127) Another hadith states: “Rifa`a divorced his wife whereupon AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s messenger came, Aisha said, ‘I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!’” (Sahih Bukhari 7.77.5825)

In light of all this, no one should be surprised that Bahrullah Noori and Mohammad Haroon Imaad, fresh from Afghanistan’s deeply Islamic culture, should be caught in America behaving like Afghans. The larger question is whether it is wise to endanger women and girls by bringing into the country a large group of people among whom is an unknowable number who think the same way that Bahrullah Noori and Mohammad Haroon Imaad do. But that question will, of course, not be asked. To ask it would be “Islamophobic.”
