Michigan Legislators Bring Articles of Impeachment Against Gretchen Whitmer

• On Wednesday Republican Reps. Beau LaFave, Matt Maddock and Daire Rendon of Michigan introduced a resolution to impeach Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
• The resolution includes four articles accusing her of 'corrupt conduct in office' and 'exceeding her constitutional authority' in her handling of pandemic
• However, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield rejected the effort, calling it a 'distraction'
• Motion came as Whitmer's new three-week COVID-19 restrictions took effect 
• The new 'Pause to Save Lives' order closed indoor dining at restaurants and bars and limited residential gatherings to two households at a time 
• Today the state has more than 303,000 confirmed and probable cases and more than 8,500 confirmed and probable deaths

Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, has been under fire for her unconstitutional and illegal mandates against the citizens of the state of Michigan. As Whitmer issues orders to lockdown and stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic, hypocritically, her own family has been excused from these mandates. Incidentally, Whitmer has used her position as governor not only to increase her own power, but for personal material benefit.

The people of Michigan have had enough and the state legislators have now brought articles of impeachment against her.

It is unclear if the Michigan House of Representatives will have the guts to see this through. Hopefully, they will, and then, North Carolina can do the same to remove Roy Cooper.
