ADVERSE REACTIONS IN OVER HALF OF CLINICAL TRIAL VOLUNTEERS GIVEN COVID-19 VACCINES PRODUCED BY PFIZER & BIONTECH

Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech on Monday announced two of their experimental coronavirus vaccines received Fast Track designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, meaning the FDA may decide on an approval within six months. If a vaccine candidate gets the green light, the companies said they expect to make up to a hundred million doses by the end of this year. The companies said the recent testing of an experimental vaccine on 24 healthy volunteers showed that after 28 days they had developed higher levels of COVID-19 antibodies than typically seen in infected people.

In clinical trials of the experimental messenger RNA (ribonucleic acid) COVID-19 vaccine (BNT162b1), which is being developed by Pfizer, Inc. of New York and BioNTech SE of Mainz, Germany, adverse reactions have occurred in more than 50 percent of the adult participants. The Phase 1/2 human trials of BNT162b1 vaccine, which were conducted May-June 2020, involved 45 healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 55 years.1

In the trials, 12 of the adults were injected with a 10-microgram dose of the BNT162b1 vaccine, and 12 adults received a 30-µg dose, 12 a 100-µg dose, while nine adults were given a placebo of a sterile saline solution (0.9 percent sodium chloride injection, in a 0.5-mL dose). Within seven days after vaccination, seven (58.3 percent) of the participants in the 10-µg group reported adverse reactions (pain) near the injection site and 24–or 100 percent–in the 30-µg and 100-µg groups and two (22.2 percent) in the placebo group reported reactions. Severe pain was reported by one participant who received 100-µg dose.1 2

Three weeks after the initial vaccination with the BNT162b1 vaccine, each one of the clinical trial participants was given a second dose of the vaccine at the same dosage. Of the participants in the 10-µg group, 8.3 percent developed fevers. Of those in the 30-µg group, 75 percent developed fevers. More than 50 percent of the adults, who were given either a 10-µg or 30-µg dose, experienced an adverse reaction such as fever and sleep disturbances.1 2

Two participants suffered severe reactions. A Grade 3 fever of over 101.3°F two days after vaccination was experienced by one adult in the 30-µg group and sleep disturbance one day after vaccination was experienced by one adult in the 100-µg group.1 2

Grade 3 reactions are described by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as, “severe or medically significant but not immediately life-threatening; hospitalization or prolongation of hospitalization indicated; disabling; limiting self care” such as “bathing, dressing and undressing, feeding self, using the toilet, taking medications.”3

According to the published results of the trials for the BNT162b1 COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer and BioNTech:

The most common systemic events reported in the 7 days after each vaccination in both BNT162b1 and placebo recipients were mild to moderate fatigue and headache. Reports of fatigue and headache were more common in the BNT162b1 groups compared to placebo. Additionally, chills, muscle pain, and joint pain were reported among BNT162b1 recipients and not in placebo recipients. Systemic events increased with dose level and were reported in a greater number of subjects after the second dose (10 µg and 30 µg groups).2

There were no Grade 4 adverse reactions reported. HHS classifies Grade 4 reactions as “life-threatening.”2 3

The clinical trial found that the experimental BNT162b1 vaccine was successful in generating antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. A recent STAT article noted, that some of the antibodies had a neutralizing effect in that they “appear to prevent the virus from functioning.” But it also pointed out that it is unclear if these antibody neutralizing levels will produce immunity to SARS-CoV-2.1 2

Pfizer and BioNTech plan to conduct larger clinical studies on their BNT162b1 vaccine later this summer.1

When Mark and Patricia McCloskey defended themselves with a strong show of force against hundreds of aggressive, trespassing people, I was reminded of my testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in January 30, 2013, when our federal lawmakers were considering banning certain firearms and operational parts of firearms under the bogus justification of increasing public safety.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey walked out onto their lawn with a rifle and a handgun to protect themselves. The mainstream media and the leftist internet tried to turn them into viral villains, but except for the extreme left, people cheered and supported them for their actions.

Americans have watched rioters and looters destroy our cities and kill those who stand up to them, like David Dorn. Police forces have given up precincts and our streets to rioters and looters who attack police officers without fear.

It is easier to attack our second amendment in times of peace and security, but those attacks fall on deaf ears when Americans see what is happening around our country. Our Second Amendment gives every law-abiding American a fighting chance.

Matthew Paul Turner, the former editor of CCM Magazine (Contemporary Christian Music Magazine), just announced on Facebook that he is gay and is divorcing his wife. Following a string of former “Christians” who renounced their faith and/or came out gay, this is not shocking as the Contemporary Christian scene is filled with apostates who are in it for nothing more than the money and notoriety.

    Turner writes,

Dear friends, I have difficult news to share. After much thought, prayer, and counseling, Jessica and I have made the decision to end our marriage. While we’re best friends and thoroughly love doing life, parenting, and pursuing our dreams together, ending our marriage is necessary because I am gay.

Of course, this only begs the question: if Turner is a homosexual, caving to his lusts of the heart and rebelling against God, and now divorcing his wife — an act that God hates — then what makes him think that this is the conclusion that he came to from God through “prayer”?

Last year, Purity Pastor Josh Harris renounced his faith, divorced his wife, and started marching in gay pride parades. Not too long after that, popular Hillsong worship leader, Marty Sampson renounced his faith. Several other notable pop Christian stars renounced their faith in 2019 as well. However, this is the first major apostasy of 2020.

    Turner continues,

Being gay isn’t a new discovery for me. However, as someone who spent 30+ years in fundamentalist/evangelical churches, exploring God through conservative theologies, I’ve lived many days overwhelmed by fear, shame, and self-hatred. Though my own faith evolved long ago to become LGBTQ+ affirming, my journey toward recognizing, accepting and embracing myself took much longer. But for the first time in my life, despite the sadness and grief I’m feeling right now, I can say with confidence that I’m ready to embrace freedom, hope, and God as a gay man.

I would not be able to say that without Jessica’s undying grace and support. I fell in love with her 17 years ago and still love her deeply. Despite her own grief and pain, she has loved and encouraged me to be fully me. Many of the steps I’ve taken recently wouldn’t have happened without Jessica walking beside me, helping me through every fear. Jessica is and will always be my hero. She’s brave, strong and showcases love like nobody I know.

Our utmost desire is to move forward in love and compassion for each other and put the well-being of our kids first. Coming out to my kids was one of the hardest, most beautiful things I’ve ever done. Loving and protecting their stories will always be our first priority.

I will continue to write children’s books and am grateful for the support of my publisher Convergent Books. Writing books about wholeness, hope, and God’s love for children is an honor and privilege I do not take for granted.

That said, we ask that you be kind and respectful toward us. Anyone who posts comments laced in shame, criticism of our family, our theology, or our choices will be blocked.

Throughout these hard months, Jessica and I have looked at each other many times and said, “we’re going to be okay.” And on most days, we fully believe that. Please keep us in your thoughts, prayers as we engage this new path.

By the way, did you know Reformation Charlotte has a Christian gear and apparel store? Check it out at ReformedGear.com.

Essentially, Turner admits that he has lived in rebellion against God his entire life, rejected repentance and faith in Christ, and is now showing himself to be unregenerate amid his inability to save himself from his own sin. We should pray that Turner ultimately hears the gospel and receives it, however, we should not be surprised by such an incident. Wide is the gate that leads to destruction! (Matthew 7:13)

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS CALL FOR REPLACING CONFEDERATE STATUE WITH PRO-ABORTION POLITICIAN IN U.S. CAPITOL

WILLIAM THORNTON, SBC VOICES:

While we’re in the midst of a culture war in America right now — as leftists and Communists join hands to sing Kumbaya as the history of this great country is burned to the ground before our very eyes — we would expect the Church to stand as a rational witness to the testimony of Christ in the face of it all.

Let’s be real, the world hates the Church. They hate the Church so bad that they’ve actually co-opted it with leftists to turn her into a God-hating, gospel-denying social justice activism machine — and for many, it has worked.

The Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, is now virtually indistinguishable from the radical left on issues of culture. The Southern Baptist president has called on Christians to stand up for LGBTQ rights and his church marched with militant, pro-LGBTQ, anti-Christian anarchists to protest the government and police. This all happens as the gospel has been largely replaced with leftist social activism.

Now, a group of Southern Baptist bloggers who are popular in elite circles — though not all that widely read — are calling on the state of Georgia to replace a statue of Alexander Hamilton Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy, with a pro-abortion leftist politician.

“Stephens was the Vice President of the Confederacy and a virulent racist,” William Thornton writes at SBC Voices, “his statue wasn’t chosen almost a century ago by the Georgia legislature for placement in Statuary Hall for his being a progressive slave owner. He’s there because he was VP of the Confederacy and an unashamed racist.”

Besides the fact that the claim is absurd on the face of it, granted that Stephens was what Thornton says he was, his solution is to replace him with someone far worse.

“So, Georgia legislature, take a vote. Replace Stephen’s statue with that of the authentic Civil Rights hero, John Lewis who just died.”

“I’ve always liked Lewis even though his politics were such that I wouldn’t have voted for him in a thousand years,” Thornton writes, “I know of no ethical failures that attach to him.”

Really? Here’s what the National Abortion Federation writes about Lewis and his leftist politics:

“Representative John Lewis was a hero: a man of courage, conviction, and wisdom; an unrelenting champion of civil rights, racial justice, women’s rights, and abortion rights; an exemplar who never gave up hope for a more just country that would be a positive force for a better world.”

You see, these Southern Baptist men don’t view leftist politics such as abortion, feminism, and gay rights as a matter of ethics. To them, only “white supremacists” like Donald Trump and Alexander Stephens are capable of “ethical failures” because they don’t advance the politics of the left. The notion that Stephens’ statue should be replaced by Lewis’ is absolutely stupid. It’s absurd and doesn’t even deserve the rebuke it’s getting in this article. But, sadly, idiotic ideas have consequences, and if history says anything, it’s that dumb ideas like this gain traction really quickly — especially in this climate.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY TELLS DOCTORS TO GIVE NINE YEAR OLD CHILDREN HPV VACCINE

The American Cancer Society (ACS) updated its guidelines for human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination on July 8, 2020 and now recommends that doctors and other healthcare providers routinely administer the two-dose HPV vaccination series to boys and girls between the ages of nine and 10.1 Currently, the federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends the HPV vaccine be given at age 11 or 12, but states that the vaccine “can be given” starting at age nine.

The ACS further adapted the ACIP guidelines for adults, recommending that providers inform individuals aged 22 to 26 who have not been previously vaccinated or who have not completed the series, that vaccination at older ages is less effective in lowering cancer risk. Further, the ACS does not endorse the ACIP recommendation for “shared decision making” regarding HPV catch-up vaccination for individuals aged 27 to 45.

ACS Says Vaccinating Younger Children Increases Vaccination Rate

In making their recommendations, the ACS maintains that HPV vaccination has been shown to be more effective at younger ages and that immunity does not wane over time. ACS argues that vaccination at an earlier age would still confer protection throughout adolescence and early adulthood, offering more opportunities for children to complete the two-dose HPV vaccination series for children under age 15.2 Some providers want to vaccinate younger children because they have found it easier to vaccinate when there is less discussion about sexual behavior as a risk factor.3

According to ACS, vaccination of adults aged 27 through 45 has minimal public health benefit and is unlikely to prevent a significant number of cancers, precancers, or genital warts.4

HPV is a Common Virus

Human papilloma virus is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI), with acquisition generally occurring soon after first sexual activity.5 About 79 million Americans are currently infected and, in most cases, HPV infections are transient, asymptomatic, and go away on their own without causing health problems. When HPV infection does not go away and if left undiagnosed and untreated over a period of years or decades, then genital warts and cervical or other kinds of cancer can develop.6 7

About 60 of the 100 HPV types cause warts on areas like the hands or feet. The other 40 or so types are associated with sexual contact. Not all of the 40 sexually transmitted human papillomaviruses cause serious health problems. High risk HPV strains include HPV 16 and 18, which are associated with about 70 percent of cervical cancers. Low risk HPV strains, such as HPV 6 and 11, are associated with about 90 percent of genital warts, which rarely develop into cancer.8

Pap Smears Effectively Detect and Prevent Cervical Cancer

Routine cervical cancer (Pap smear) screening is part of a woman’s routine health care and has been shown to greatly reduce both the number of cervical cancer cases and deaths from the disease. The Pap test, which is generally done every three years beginning at age 21, takes cells from a woman’s cervix and those cells are examined under a microscope for abnormalities.

Although HPV infection of the cervix is very common, most infections will be cleared by the immune system over the course of one to two years. Because most HPV infections are transient and produce only temporary changes in cervical cells, overly frequent screening could detect HPV infection or cell changes that may be unlikely to cause cancer.9

HPV testing, which looks for the presence of high-risk HPV types in cervical cells, may also be done alone or with the Pap smear, and is recommended for women every five years after age 30.10 A study released on July 8, 2020 concluded that co-testing with Pap and HPV together was more effective at detecting cancer than with either test done alone.11

Other Cancers Related to HPV

The ACS estimates that in 2020 13,800 new cases of invasive cervical cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. and will result in approximately 4,290 deaths.12 In addition to cervical cancer, there are five other cancers associated with chronic HPV infection: mouth and throat (oropharyngeal), vaginal, penile, anal and vulvar.

In 2018, the ACS estimated that in the U.S. (population of over 325 million):

  • About 51,540 cases of oral cavity or oropharyngeal cancer will be diagnosed and result in 10,030 deaths
  • About 5,170 cases of vaginal cancer will be diagnosed and result in 1,330 deaths.
  • About 2,320 cases of penile cancer will be diagnosed and result in 380 deaths.
  • About 8,580 cases (5,620 in women and 2,960 in men) of anal cancer will be diagnosed and result in 1,160 deaths (680 in women and 480 in men)
  • About 6,190 cases vulva cancers will be diagnosed and result in 1,200 deaths.13

HPV Vaccine Approved Despite Safety Concerns

Despite the availability of effective screening and treatment options for the detection and prevention of cervical cancer, Merck’s Gardasil vaccine was granted Fast Track status and an accelerated approval by the FDA in 2006. Gardasil contained strains 16, 18, 6 and 11 was initially approved for use in females between ages nine and 26 years old. In 2011, the CDC recommended that males also be routinely vaccinated with the HPV vaccine and, in 2014, five additional strains (31, 33, 45, 52 and 58) were added to Gardasil.14 Merck’s Gardasil-9 is currently the only HPV vaccine available for use in the United States.

Concerns about the strength of the scientific evidence used by the FDA to license the first HPV vaccine as safe and effective were raised by the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) in a 2006 press release.15 NVIC pointed out that Merck inappropriately used a bioactive placebo (aluminum) as a control in pre-licensure trials and that principal investigators ignored red flag safety signals reported during those trials, including cases of death and development of inflammatory autoimmune disorders in participants. NVIC also pointed out that the sample sizes of the adolescent population targeted for vaccination were too small in the trials and that surrogate markers for efficacy used in the trials did not prove the vaccine actually prevented cancer.

The CDC reported that, in 2017, nearly 49 percent of adolescents aged 13 to 17 had completed the HPV series, and nearly 66 percent had received the first dose.16

Cervical Cancer Rate Decreased 0.7 percent Since 2006

The CDC reports that among teen girls, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 86 percent, and among young adult women, infections have dropped 71 percent.17 Rates of new cervical cancer in 2006 when the HPV vaccine was introduced were 8.2 per 100,000 women with an incidence of 12,704. In 2017, the CDC reports an incidence of 7.5 per 100,000 women, or 12,831 cases.18

Because HPV vaccines do not protect against all HPV types that cause cervical cancer, the CDC recommends that vaccinated women should continue with routine cervical cancer screening.19
