Attorney General William Barr warned Americans this week of what he said might be the “the most important issue for our nation and the world in the 21st century”: the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) goal of global supremacy.
During an address at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Barr discussed how China is “engaged in an economic blitzkrieg” with the aim of taking over key areas of the economy, such as the technology, pharmaceutical, and entertainment industries as a way of replacing the U.S. as the world’s leading superpower.
“The CCP has launched an orchestrated campaign, across all of its many tentacles in Chinese government and society, to exploit the openness of our institutions in order to destroy them,” Barr said. He contended that the communist nation is using “a wide array of predatory and often unlawful tactics,” including currency manipulation, cyberattacks, espionage, and intellectual property theft.
Barr pointed to the CCP’s “Made in China 2025,” which he said “poses a real threat to U.S. technological leadership” as the foreign power strives to take over several high tech industries.
The attorney general further warned that America is already “dangerously dependent” in certain key areas, such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and rare earth materials for technological devices.
As one Defense Health Agency official noted, should China decide to limit or restrict the delivery of APIs to the United States, it could result in severe shortages of pharmaceuticals for both domestic and military uses,” Barr warned.
He added that China “has systematically preyed on American companies” by imposing health market obstacles like price limitations and counterfeiting. The attorney general noted that Chinese nationals employed at American pharmaceutical companies have been caught stealing secrets in both the U.S. and abroad.
“The ultimate ambition of China’s rulers isn’t to trade with the United States,” Barr said. “It is to raid the United States.” In his opinion, American companies have too often fallen in line with Chinese demands in their pursuit of short-term profits.
“Sadly, examples of American business bowing to Beijing are legion,” Barr said, giving as an example the way in which Hollywood regularly censors its own movies to appease the Chinese Communist Party.”
In blockbusters such as World War Z and Doctor Strange, for instance, filmmakers changed major aspects of the movies to avoid offending the Chinese government and losing out on a Chinese market made up of more than a billion people.

Barr also named large tech companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo as being “all too willing to collaborate with the CCP,” citing Apple’s decision to take down the news app Quartz from their website because the Chinese government disliked their coverage of the Hong Kong protests.
Barr warned U.S. businesses considering working with China: “If you are an American business leader, appeasing the PRC may bring short-term rewards. But in the end, the PRC’s goal is to replace you.”
The attorney general’s remarks echo those of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who said earlier this month that the CCP is “engaged in a whole-of-state effort to become the world’s only superpower by any means necessary.”
Wray explained that the FBI opens a new China-related counterintelligence case every 10 hours and that their theft of Americans’ information, intellectual property, and more “represents one of the largest transfers of wealth in human history,” making China “the greatest long-term threat” to the United States.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also warned Americans about China this month, indicating that the Trump administration is strongly considering a ban on Chinese social media apps like TikTok, the popular video sharing platform.
President Trump has made taking on China one of his signature policy positions since he was a candidate in the 2016 election. Current events continue to prove that he’s right to want to limit the influence of the Sleeping Dragon on America.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is submitting a request to the Justice Department to start a civil rights investigation into the St. Louis district attorney seeking to indict the infamous couple who drew guns on the Black Lives Matter agitators who broke into their private neighborhood and allegedly threatened them on their property.
Kim Gardner, District Attorney for the St. Louis Circuit, said she was “alarmed” by the incident on June 28. Last week, local police seized the AR-15 rifle that Mark McCloskey was seen wielding in the viral video. The handgun held by his wife, Patricia, was handed over to authorities by the couple’s attorney.
Al Watkins, their former lawyer, said the search warrant was executed because Gardner “sought weapons held by Mr. and Mrs. McCloskey during June 28, 2020 in defense of themselves and their home at time of the march.” Watkins maintained that the handgun was inoperable at the time she pointed it at the neighborhood invaders and that she drew it as an “intimidation factor” for “self-defense.”
Hawley argued Garder is targeting the McCloskeys out of political motives.
“Unfortunately, this family is facing new threats, not from demonstrators but from the local government. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner is now threatening to prosecute not the trespassers, but the McCloskeys, and she is using the powers of her office to target them,” he wrote to U.S. Attorney General William Barr. “Her office has seized their firearms, and police have applied for warrants in the case, with an indictment believed to be imminent.”
Hawley is a supporter or the Second Amendment who received a 93 percent approval rating from the National Rifle Association in 2018. He called Gardner’s actions an “abuse of power.”
There is no question under Missouri law that the McCloskeys had the right to own and use their firearms to protect themselves from threatened violence, and that any criminal prosecution for these actions is legally unsound. The only possible motivation for the investigation, then, is a politically motivated attempt to punish this family for exercising their Second Amendment rights.
The Second Amendment is not a second-class right. No family should face the threat of harassment or malicious prosecution for exercising that right. The Department of Justice must ensure that all Americans’ rights are protected from this kind of abuse of power.
Patricia McCloskey told Fox News’ Sean Hannity the mob threatened her and her husband. “That they were going to kill us,” she said. “They were going to come in there. They were going to burn down the house. They were going to be living in our house after I was dead. They pointed to different rooms and said, ‘That’s going to be my bedroom, and that’s going to be the living room, and I’m going to be taking a shower in that room.’... There were so many threats. Then, the dog barked, and they said, ‘I’m going to be killing her, too,’ or ‘It, too.’”
According to Mark, he and his family were having dinner outside of their mansion in a gated community when the crowd broke through the neighborhood’s iron gates, which were marked with signs that read “No Trespassing” and “Private Street.”
“A mob of at least 100 smashed through the historic wrought iron gates of Portland Place, destroying them, rushed towards my home where my family was having dinner outside and put us in fear of our lives,” he told KMOV4.
The McCloskeys are personal-injury lawyers who have donated to both Republicans and Democrats over the years. They have given at least $4,000 to the Democratic Party and $2,400 to the Trump campaign.
The crowd broke into the Portland Place to protest at the home of Mayor Lyda Krewson, who, during a Facebook Live video, read the letters submitted by individuals who want to defund the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department — including their full names and full or partial addresses.
Of the incident, Gardner has said: “Make no mistake: we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights, and will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.”
Missouri Governor Mike Parson, a Republican, said at a news conference on Tuesday that he does not believe the couple should be charged and that he spoke to President Donald Trump about the case. Though Parson did not mention Gardner, she had her office post a statement on Twitter later that evening in which she claimed the governor and president are going after her.
Gardner did not explain in what way they are allegedly going after her.

The majority of state representatives are hearing from the citizens we serve that they no longer want a system where one governor and his secretary can order them to stay at home, not go to work, shutter their family business, jeopardize their ability to put food on the table and dictate every iota of their daily lives.
Answering the people’s demands that Wolf’s tyrannical abuse of emergency powers must be stopped and never be imposed again, on Tuesday, the PA House voted to advance Senate Bill 1166, which would begin a constitutional amendment process that will empower the people to decide whether to rein in the governor’s unchecked authority.
Specifically, the amendment would limit a disaster emergency declaration to be in effect for no more than 21 days, unless extended by concurrent resolution by the people’s Legislature, and prohibit the governor from issuing a new emergency declaration based upon the same circumstances without approval of a concurrent resolution by the Legislature.
After being passed by the General Assembly in two consecutive sessions, this referendum will go straight to the voters for approval and would not be subject to approval or veto by the governor. As a constitutional amendment, it would supersede statute and could not be overturned by the courts.
Throughout the House floor debate on Senate Bill 1166, the Democrats actually resorted to shouting concern for the PA Constitution.
Really? Concern for a founding document that they trample on daily and are trying to destroy whether through infringing on our Second Amendment rights and, especially now, through the governor’s unchecked emergency powers that have resulted in more than 3 million Pennsylvanians filing for unemployment and thousands of COVID-19 deaths in our nursing homes?
Once placed as a referendum question, the people themselves will decide to approve or reject Wolf’s emergency declaration at the next available statewide election. The earliest this could occur would be in the spring of 2021.
Imagine, a process that allows the people themselves to decide how they will be governed. What could be more foundational to our Constitutional Republic?
Let’s get Senate Bill 1166 on the ballot for the people to decide...WE THE PEOPLE!

Measures Seek to Restore Local Control During Ongoing Pandemic

Continuing the effort to restart the economy and recognize the varied impacts of COVID-19 in different areas of the state, the House approved two bills this week to give county officials the authority to develop their own reopening plans.
House Bill 2541 would allow the governing body of a county, in consultation with the county emergency management agency, county health department, county health officer or any other appropriate health or emergency management official, to develop and implement a countywide reopening plan for businesses subject to closure by the governor due to the spread of a communicable disease during a public health emergency.
House Bill 2549 would permit county leaders to move their counties to a “green plus” phase of business reopening, based on the specific circumstances in their counties. Empowering local decisionmakers who see firsthand the specific circumstances and challenges in their communities would be more effective than a one-size-fits-all response when it comes to helping employers reopen and recover.
Both measures go to the Senate for consideration.
