U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- A stop at the local Walmart on 3 June, 2020, revealed an empty gun display. No guns were inside the locked display. There were no cartridges available, other than shotgun bird shot.

Walmart had been trending toward gradual elimination of guns from its inventory for years, ever since the death of the founder, Sam Walton, in 1992.

Sam discouraged merchandise which was not made in the USA. Sam insisted each store carry firearms, including handguns. When Sam was not there to enforce those policies, the leftists who took over the company used each new “crisis” to remove firearms and ammunition from the store.

In the 1990s, Walmart stopped selling handguns in all its stores, except in Alaska. In 2015, Walmart ended sales of modern sporting rifles.

On September 3, 2019, Walmart announced it would no longer sell handguns in Alaska,  handgun ammunition in all stores, or the nebulously defined “assault weapons”.

Two Walmart associates at the store said the firearms had been removed from the display because of national concerns over riots.

This policy was confirmed with articles in several outlets. From chainstoreage.com:

The retailer giant has removed firearms and ammunition from the sales floor of some stores as protests continue across the nation against the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Growing up in the 1950s and 1960s, every other shop in the tourist and dairy farm area where I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, carried guns and ammunition. Every bait shop, hardware store, most service stations, and many other shops carried guns. Guns were available through the mail, although handguns had to be delivered by private carrier instead of the post office.  As a teen, I had no difficulty purchasing ammunition at the local gas station.

The Gun Control Act of 1968 changed all that. Almost overnight, guns disappeared from most small outlets, because of the cost and record-keeping requirements built into the 1968 law.

The crime rate soared. Homicides peaked in the 1980s and 1990s.  Murders of police officers while on duty, peaked in the 1970s. The average number of police murdered in the line of duty, from 1970 to 1980, was 112 officers per year.  That number had dropped below 50 a year, until President Obama and his support for racial organizations such as Black Lives Matter, ramped up hatred of the police.

The law was meant as a precursor to handgun registration. It failed. It did not reduce homicides or murders, even with guns. It should be repealed as an affront to the Second Amendment.

The unintended consequences were profound. An awakened membership changed out the old guard leadership of the NRA, in 1977.  The NRA moved its primary mission from training to preserving the right to keep and bear arms. Training doesn't do much good if you do not have guns to train with.

Concealed carry permit laws, both shall issue and Constitutional carry, proliferated as gun owners lobbied for the restoration of their rights. The homicide rate dropped. People legally carrying guns were shown to be extremely law-abiding.

The lack of other shops carrying guns and ammunition created the proliferation of the independent, dedicated gun shop. The dedicated shops became nexus of information, voter registration, training, and support for the Second Amendment.

Gun shows proliferated. At the shows, gun owners could meet, trade guns, ammunition, and information. They became another nexus of activism and resolve to restore a Second Amendment under near-constant attack. Almost no criminals get guns from gun shows. Gun shows are under attack because they are a center of political activism. My good friend, Alan Korwin, built his business at gun shows selling his highly successful line of books on gun laws.

Walmart will likely stop selling nearly all guns and ammunition in the United States.  It will backfire.

Many dedicated gun shop owners have said they cannot compete with Walmart. Now they will not have to do so.

We now have more than 450 million guns and 100 million gun owners. In the first five months of 2020, we added eight million more guns, millions of new gun owners.

Guns and the right to bear arms are extremely popular in the United States. With the lawless destruction of property and lives in many leftwing cities and states, they are both becoming more popular than ever.

BANKROLLING BEELZEBUB: BIG BUSINESS GIVES THE ALT-LEFT, INCLUDING BLM, $454 MILLION

Question: What’s the main difference today between the average politically correct university and your typical large corporation?

Answer: The size of their bank accounts.

Too often now big business, like academia, is in thrall to cultural revolutionaries. Given this, it’s perhaps not surprising that, motivated by the George Floyd police-war-on-blacks lie, corporate America has given a whopping $454 million to leftist groups and causes — even those as radical as agitator group Black Lives Matter (BLM).

The biggest spenders are, Breitbart reports:

Sony Music — a fund “to support social justice and anti-racist initiatives around the world” — $100 million

Walmart — a new racial equity center — $100 million

Warner Music — campaigns against violence and racism and social justice causes related to music industry — $100 million.

Nike — “Organizations that put social justice, education and addressing racial inequality in America at the center of their work” — $40 million

Alphabet/Google — various organizations, starting with $1 million each to Center for Policing Equity and Equal Justice Initiative — $12 million

While to the uninitiated the above causes may sound innocuous enough, or even praiseworthy, know that “social justice,” “racial equity,” and even “racial equality” have become euphemisms for social engineering that itself is often racially discriminatory.

Then there are the piker companies that like to effect their value-signaling on the cheap. They are, Breitbart also informs:

Etsy — $500,000 to the Equal Justice Initiative, $500,000 to Borealis Philanthropy’s Black-Led Movement Fund, and match any employee donations — $1 million.

Yelp Foundation — Equal Justice Initiative and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund — $500,000

H&M — NAACP, ACLU, and Color of Change — $500,000

Levi’s — $100,000 to the ACLU and $100,000 in grants to Live Free USA — $200,000

Lululemon — the Minnesota Freedom Fund — $100,000

It’s a good idea to peruse Breitbart’s whole list so you can make informed buying decisions. But the website tells us that the companies donating to BLM — whose members, along with other leftist insurrectionists, are currently occupying part of downtown Seattle as an invading force and have declared the area their own nation — are Cisco, Microsoft, Intel, and Glosser.

Putting aside the leftist organizations’ efforts at undermining Western civilization, funding them is a classic case of facilitating the wrong “cure” due to accepting a wrong diagnosis. For what truly ails black America today has nothing to do with “racism.”

Rather, at “the root of most of the problems black people face is the breakdown of the family structure,” wrote George Mason University professor Walter E. Williams last year. “Slightly over 70 percent of black children are raised in female-headed households.”

“According to statistics about fatherless homes, 90 percent of homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes; 71 percent of pregnant teenagers lack a father figure; 63 percent of youth suicides are from fatherless homes; 71 percent of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes; and 70 percent of juveniles in state-operated institutions have no father,” Williams continued.

“Furthermore, fatherless boys and girls are twice as likely to drop out of high school and twice as likely to end up in jail.” Of course, none of this is new or should be news to anyone.

Some will attribute the above problems to the “legacy of slavery.” We can know this is bunk because, as Williams points out, the black family was in far better shape a century ago — closer to slavery times. In the late 1800s, in fact, “depending on the city, 70 percent to 80 percent of black households were two-parent,” Williams also informs.

Now, getting back to BLM, here’s a quite apropos kicker: On the organization’s “Guiding Principles” page under the “Black Villages” tab, it states, “We are committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families.”

In other words, BLM has essentially promised to exacerbate the main problem plaguing black America!

Good job, Deep Business; this is what you’re funding. Give yourself a big pat on the back — with a 100-lb anvil.

By the way, BLM has apparently decided that honesty is not the best policy for a civilization destroyer and has “disappeared” its Guiding Principles page. Its former URL now bears the message, “Sorry, but the page you were trying to view does not exist.”

Ah, but it still does, BLM, right here at an Internet archiving service. Busted.

So it’s not just that a good slice of corporate America is wasting money, but that it’s actually funding evil. Moreover, could you imagine the good that could be done if the $454 million were directed toward black America’s actual problems?

As to this, Reverend Jesse Lee Peterson has identified the core issue, stating the obvious, as a lack of “moral character.” Also obvious is that the remedy for immorality is morality. To be precise, if morality came in a jar, on the ingredients label would be virtues.

Virtue is a universal, needed by all people of all colors and creeds. Examples of virtues are charity, chastity, courage, diligence, kindness, faith, hope, honesty, fortitude, justice, temperance, prudence, patience, forgiveness, humility, and love.

Also know that virtues aren’t just different “values,” flavors of the day, but reflect a universal — Truth — which itself comes from God.

If all that corporate money were devoted to faith-based programs emphasizing the virtues, personal responsibility, legitimate education and skills development, marriage and family formation, and faith instead of grievance nurturing, some good could actually be done.

But the truth is that the corporations here mainly care about money, just as BLM mostly cares about power and destroying what it hates. To them, black lives matter — as, respectively, patrons and pawns.

SEATTLE MAYOR CELEBRATES “SUMMER OF LOVE” AS RAPE & VIOLENT CRIME SOARS IN “CHAZ” COMMUNIST UTOPIA

Everything unfolding exactly as predicted

The Mayor of Seattle celebrated a “summer of love” even as rape and violent crime soared in the new “autonomous zone” Communist utopia set up by left-wing extremists in a 6 block area of the city.

The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ, is a police-free district of Seattle that has been overrun by Black Lives Matter protesters since Monday.

After the police building was boarded up (with the tacit support of members of the city council), the first thing protesters did was to build a border wall and check the identities of everyone entering and leaving (oh the irony).

Protesters have put on the barricades that those coming into the area are “now leaving the USA” and entering the “Cap Hill autonomous zone” or “Free Capitol Hill.”

Left-wing extremists then complained that homeless people had taken all their food and requested that people make donations of soy food products.

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan then appeared on CNN with Chris Cuomo and declared that the occupation could lead to a “summer of love.”

“How long do you think Seattle and those few blocks looks like this?” Cuomo asked.

“I don’t know. We could have a summer of love!” Durkan responded.

Apparently, this “summer of love” will include rape, robbery and other many other violent crimes.

“Rapes, robberies and all sorts of violent acts have been occurring in the area and we’re not able to get to [them],” warned Seattle’s Police Chief.

Crime in the area has risen 300 per cent since the mob took over and police response times are three times longer than normal.

Those accused of wrongdoing are subjected to immediate mob justice, which in this case included them surrounding and interrogating an accused thief.

My latest report from the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone“: Things are getting dangerous for people who are accused of wrongdoing. In one instance, an accused thief was surrounded by a crowd and interrogated, with one person brandishing a bat in his face. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/juliorosas/2020/06/11/cracks-appear-capitol-hill-zone-n2570461

Looks like their Communist utopia is going exactly as expected!

While President Trump and others have called for the situation to be brought back under control, I say just leave them to it and enjoy watching this ‘destined for success’ experiment unfold naturally.
