USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- When the system and laws break down, Americans must fall
back on their State Constitutions and the U.S. Constitution.
The Constitution represents the trunk of the tree of government and laws, with state constitutions, statutes, and regulations branching off of it. If there is ever a fault or failure in these branches, the natural path is to bypass the problem branch and return to the Constitution. In the current Chinese coronavirus scare, we see examples of various “non-essential” government agencies going to skeleton crews or shutting down entirely. Some of these agencies that are cutting back play a role in the convoluted process and many paperwork hoops that lawful firearm purchasers are required to jump through. That’s a problem.U.S. Code says that if a National Instant Check System (NICS) criminal background check on a gun purchaser turns up some information indicating that the buyer might be a prohibited person, but the system can’t verify the information, then the file is kicked out of the computer to a human to investigate further, and a “Delay” order is sent to the dealer selling the gun. Under the law, NICS has 3 business days to resolve the question, before the dealer may proceed with the transfer. Some dealers refuse to ever do transfers without a green light from NICS, while most automatically complete transfers after 3 business days.In the midst of the panic and confusion caused by China's COVID-19, the FBI, which operates NICS, has sent out a directive to gun dealers, warning them that the “3 business days” allotted for investigation of “Delayed” reports, means 3 days during which all of the various repositories of information that a NICS examiner might call upon to clear-up a question, are open. That means that the closures and skeleton crews mentioned above are making it difficult for NICS examiners – if they are even still working – to do their job, and that gun dealers are supposed to refuse to process any transfer until the government gets its act back together and everyone gets back to work. This is totally unacceptable.
The closures and skeleton crews mentioned above are making it difficult for NICS examiners – if they are even still working – to do their job, and that gun dealers are supposed to refuse to process any transfer until the government gets its act back together and everyone gets back to work. The 3-day limit was included in the law as a fail-safe, specifically to prevent the government from being able to block firearm sales via bureaucratic inaction or computer glitches. The definition of “3 business days” has always been Monday through Friday, not including federal holidays. It is outrageous and indefensible for the FBI to be redefining this term now.At the time the “Instant Check” compromise was worked out between the NRA and Congress, as an alternative to the 5-day waiting period mandated by the Brady Bill, we opposed the whole concept, but if the bill was going to pass, we were pushing for the best deal possible, including a provision that offered more protection to dealers and gun buyers. Our version of this transfer option would have required NICS to automatically send out a “Proceed” notice to a dealer after 3 business days or 5 calendar days, whichever was shorter. There would have been no discretion left to dealers as to whether or not to transfer the firearm and no negative repercussions for dealers doing so. While that’s still not a perfect solution, it would have provided more legal and PR protection for dealers, and a stronger guarantee for people exercising their right to arms.Of course, our compromise on the compromise wasn’t adopted and instead, we got “Instant-Check” language that provides that a dealer may transfer the firearm after 3 business days, and the FBI’s reinterpretation turns that on its ear, making the “Delay” indefinite.Similar chicanery is occurring in states that run their own checks, rather than relying on the FBI’s NICS system, and among state and local agencies that issue concealed carry licenses and permits. As with the FBI, processing background checks and license paperwork appears to be a low priority for many of these agencies, and the response from the agencies and the politicians that oversee them has been abysmal. They simply don’t care. They don’t care that it’s a constitutionally protected right. They don’t care that their bureaucratic indifference could cost someone their life. They don’t care that the red tape is unfair, racially-biased, and discriminatory. They just don’t care at all.Meanwhile, around the country, dozens of petty dictators, in the form of governors and mayors, are issuing “shelter-in-place” orders, requiring “non-essential” businesses, like gun stores, to close their doors, and in some cases, claiming the authority to legally prohibit the sale of guns, ammunition, gasoline, liquor, and other “dangerous” items. So far, no one has offered up any rational explanation for why such restrictions might be needed or how they would assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19.Some patriot-gun shops in California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and probably other states, have refused to close their doors, in spite of orders from politicians and police to do so. As of this writing, there have been no serious confrontations, but seeds have been planted and things could easily get ugly in a hurry. The really frustrating part of all of this is that there is a simple and obvious solution: Obey the Constitution.
Gun owners are constantly being berated by gun control advocates and the media for not being “reasonable” and accepting “minor inconveniences” in the form of additional restrictions on firearm ownership rights. Well, the laws that are currently on the books, which law-abiding gun owners follow every day, are examples of gun owners being reasonable and compromising. And the current blocks, delays, and bans in the name of protecting society from a germ, are examples of why we resist all of these “minor,” “reasonable,” “commonsense” gun control laws that they keep throwing at us. They’re not minor, reasonable, or commonsense. They’re infringements on our rights, and they cause the most harm at the worst times. Many supporters of “reasonable” gun control laws in California have begun to realize just how unreasonable those laws really are, but they’ll probably reelect the same politicians who gave them those laws, come November. In our constitutional republic, the default position for any law or regulation is always supposed to be to the benefit of the individual, not the government, and the burden is always supposed to be on the government, not the individual. This is especially true when dealing with enumerated rights. If we allow the government to institute some laws that encroach on our rights, it is the government’s obligation to ensure that they do so in the most limited way, and it is the government’s burden to meet. If they cannot meet their burden, the process must default to the benefit of individual rights, not the convenience or preference of the government. In Arizona and many other states, the governor has declared that people with drivers licenses that are expiring, will be given a grace period and their licenses will continue to be recognized as valid for a yet-to-be-determined period. The same sort of blanket extension should apply to all concealed carry licenses and permits, and all firearm owner ID cards and purchase permits in states that require them. If government agencies are unable or unwilling to fulfill their responsibilities in processing firearm and ammunition sales, then those restrictions and regulations are null and void. As to any suggestion of forcing gun stores to close, or banning the sale of firearms or ammunition, such notions should be roundly rejected as blatantly unconstitutional, and immediately quashed by the courts. The Firearms Coalition is in discussions with attorneys and legal scholars to determine the most expedient way to force a stop to this government neglect, overreach, and duplicity. A right delayed is a right denied. Saying “We don’t have the personnel,” is not an acceptable excuse for withholding fundamental rights.Jeff KnoxAbout Jeff Knox:Jeff Knox is a second-generation political activist and director of The Firearms Coalition. Heba Yazbak would doubtless have no problem with Israel becoming an Islamic state. Her statements reveal the deceptiveness of the Palestinian Authority’s recognition of Israel’s right to exist. The PA’s recognition of Israel is a sham anyway, a semantic trick. The PA has never recognized Israel as a Jewish state. “We will never recognize the Jewishness of the state of Israel,” said Mahmoud Abbas in 2014. The PA recognizes Israel as having a right to exist as yet another Muslim Arab state, once its Jewish population is murdered, subjugated, and/or expelled. That’s all. Heba Yazbak appears to be on board with that program.“Heba Yazbak: ‘We’ll divest Israel of its Jewishness and Zionism,'” by Dalit Halevi, Israel National News, March 18, 2020 (thanks to the Geller Report):Video clips of two Arabic interviews given by MK Heba Yazbak (Joint Arab List) reveal her battle against Zionism and ambition to eliminate Zionism and the State of Israel’s Jewish and Zionist character….In the second interview, Yazbak says, “At the same time as we are joining the Knesset in order to achieve civil rights that we can use. We in Balad (Yazbak’s faction in the Joint Arab List – ed.) are holding our compass strong – this is a state of all its citizens.”“This plan opposes and fights the country’s Zionism and prides itself of divesting the country of its Jewish and Zionist existence, and at the same time preserves our national identity, without sacrificing full citizenship and without sacrificing citizenship.”Yazbak has come under fire for praising terrorists who murdered Israelis, including expressing regret over the elimination of terrorist Samir Kuntar, who smashed the skull of four-year-old Einat Haran in the Nahariya terror attack in 1979, and whom she called a “hero.”

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Health has specifically exempted abortion from its order to postpone or cancel elective surgery in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, claiming that “terminating a pregnancy is not considered a nonessential, elective invasive procedure.”The department issued a memorandum on March 15 to hospitals and surgical centers in the state to advise that Commissioner Monica Bharel had ordered a halt on elective, nonessential surgery so that medical personnel can focus on addressing COVID-19 and conserve protective equipment.“Pursuant to an order issued by the commissioner of Public Health, and to focus health care personnel resources on responding to this outbreak and conserve the critical shortage of personal protective equipment, all hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers are directed to postpone or cancel any nonessential, elective invasive procedures until the state of emergency is terminated by the governor or until rescinded by the commissioner of Public Health,” the memo reads. It names various procedures that would be considered nonessential, such as knee and hip replacements, tooth extractions, colonoscopies, cryotherapy for benign lesions, and kidney stone lithotripsy. However, the memo specifically notes that abortion is not included in this category.“DPH defines nonessential, elective invasive procedures as procedures that are scheduled in advance because the procedure does not involve a medical emergency,” it states. “[H]owever, terminating a pregnancy is not considered a nonessential, elective invasive procedure for the purpose of this guidance.”The Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts dug in its heels over the announcement, tweeting on Wednesday, “@MassGovernor rightly made clear that a temporary ban on elective medical procedures DOES NOT apply to abortion. As we fight #COVID19, we must ensure continued access to reproductive health care, including abortion.”Last Sunday, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, who identifies as a “moderate Republican,” ordered all K-12 schools closed for the next three weeks to protect the health of children. He similarly announced on Wednesday that all daycare facilities must cease operation effective March 23.Baker ordered all restaurants to discontinue the dining-in option and only offer takeout and delivery, and noted on Friday that the state is “very much in social distancing and shutdown mode” and has “shut down enormous parts of our economy and our communities across the commonwealth.”However, while seeking to save the lives of born children and shuttering businesses in order to preserve the vulnerable in society, those still located in their mother’s womb may continue to be murdered as abortion facilities were given the green light to continue to operate. The National Abortion Federation (NAF) issued a statement on Tuesday in which it urged government leaders nationwide to ensure that abortion facilities are not included in the shutdown of non-essential businesses.“Abortion care is a time-sensitive service that cannot be significantly deferred without profound consequences for women and their families. … It is an essential health service,” it wrote, arguing that the with the pandemic, mothers will even more so seek abortion as their finances will be strained.“An individual and family decide to end a pregnancy for a complex constellation of reasons that include the impact of pregnancy and birth on their health, ability to work, and strained economic circumstances. These are conditions that do not go away — and are likely heightened — in pandemic conditions,” the NAF said.“Patients presenting for time-sensitive care, including abortion care, need timely access to treatment, even during this pandemic,” it asserted. “As we navigate COVID-19, it is critical that leaders treat outpatient abortion providers as essential businesses, and that hospital systems ensure the continuation of abortion care as an essential service.”Most abortion facilities in the nation continue to operate amid the COVID-19 outbreak, except for in Ohio, where Attorney General Dave Yost specifically ordered them to shut down.Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis noted on Saturday that while states such as New York and California are working hard to preserve life during the coronavirus crisis, they are hypocritically defensive of the “right” to kill children in the womb. Nearly a million unborn babies lose their lives to abortion every year in the United States alone.“God have mercy. May He help us stop this virus and save lives. But America needs to stop willingly killing its babies, and it needs repentance and spiritual awakening,” he wrote.

New legislation introduced this month in the Pennsylvania House aims to add fees and limits to how Keystone Staters buy their ammunition.Pennsylvania House Bill 2344 was referred to the chamber’s Judiciary Committee last week with a dozen sponsors. Filed by state Rep. Tom Murt, R-Montgomery, it would wrap the ammo buying process in layers of Harrisburg red tape.In its current format, the 25-page bill would mandate those who want to pick up some bullets first obtain a proposed Ammunition Purchase Authorization Permit, a four-year $50 ammo permission slip controlled by state police. Permits, which could take 30 days to process, would be tracked, their information retained in a central database, and subject to revocation. When it comes to the act of buying ammunition, with a $3 surcharge payable to the state, ammo could only be purchased online if it is delivered to a licensed importer, manufacturer or dealer to process a subsequent face-to-face transfer. This would end the common practice among Pennsylvanians of ordering from e-commerce ammo retailers such as Guns.com and having it conveniently delivered to their home.Further, Commonwealth residents under the proposal would be barred from legally transporting ammunition into the state that was acquired outside of its borders unless they have a licensed dealer coordinate the transfer. While the bill exempts police and law enforcement from its requirements, those who violate the provisions of the ammo control mandate could face up to a second-degree felony, a punishment that is on par with involuntary manslaughter and provides from 5 to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.Murt is a suburban Philly Republican who took office in 2007 and announced earlier this year that he is not seeking reelection. All of HB 2344’s co-sponsors are currently Democrats.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott walked back his previous decentralized approach of letting localities determine their own coronavirus responses, announcing an executive order on Thursday prohibiting social gatherings of more than 10 people and closing a number of public-facing businesses. The Republican governor’s order bans eating and drinking at restaurants (although takeout is still allowed), closes gyms and schools, and prohibits visits to nursing homes except for critical care. The measures are currently scheduled to continue through April 3.“Working together, we must defeat COVID-19 with the only tool that we have available to us — we must strangle its expansion by reducing the ways that we are currently transmitting it,” said Abbott, accompanied by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen. “We are doing this now, today, so that we can get back to business as usual more quickly.”At the news conference, Abbott clarified that his order is not a shelter-in-place order. “All critical infrastructure” remains open and Texans may freely go to places such as grocery stores and banks. Businesses are also allowed to keep their workplaces open but should use only “essential employees” and allow remote work where possible. At a town hall that followed the news conference, Abbot warned that restaurants caught in violation of the order could have their licenses to operate revoked, stating that “literally their life as an ongoing business is on the line.”On the departure from Texas’ traditional model of leaving it to cities and counties to choose how to address situations based on their particular local circumstances, Abbot said, “The traditional model that we have employed in the state of Texas for such a long time so effectively does not apply to an invisible disease that knows no geographic and no jurisdictional boundaries and threatens the lives of our fellow Americans across the entire country.”Abbot followed that approach for weeks even while other states imposed strict top-down government controls to contain the COVI-19 spread.“They know their communities better than anybody else does,” he previously said. But that model brought criticism from voices who urged the government to provide a uniform response policy for the entire state.“Instead of following the lead of other states and the guidelines recommended by the CDC, Governor Abbott continuously passed this health crisis off to local and county officials,” complained Manny Garcia, executive director of the Texas Democratic Party, said in a statement.Abbot maintained that his executive order brings Texas in line with direction from Washington.“I find it necessary that we as a state, in unison, are doing exactly what has been prescribed by the federal government,” he said. When asked if the policy applies to spring breakers on the beach at Port Aransas, the governor replied, “So any place where anybody would gather, by this executive order they are prohibited from having more than 10 people gather at any one time and location.”He asserted that the state has ample power to enforce the order but will refrain from a full-on quarantine if Texans will abide by the mandated behavior of their own accord. If not, he warned, the government may enact tougher enforcement measures:The state now has the quarantine authority but we are not going to exercise that authority right now because we are going to depend on the responsibility that all Texans will show. If Texans are irresponsible in their behavior, though, there are more tools that we can use and we can be more aggressive, only if we need to be.Abbott also announced that State Health Commissioner John Hellerstedt declared a public health disaster earlier on Thursday. The last time such a declaration was made was in 1901, when a quarantine was issued to contain small pox.The disaster designation allows for greater government controls, but does not entitle the state to additional resources and test kits from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Abbott said that Texas has billions of dollars in its rainy-day fund that it can “tap into at the appropriate time, but the appropriate time will be when we know the full extent of the challenge that we're dealing with.”Texas currently has over 140 cases and five deaths related to coronavirus, putting it far behind hard-hit states such as Washington, which has reported 904 cases and 55 deaths. New York has had nearly 1,400 cases with 10 deaths, while California, the largest state in the union in terms of population, counts over 550 cases with seven deaths.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A man born as Richard who now identifies as Rachel, and who has officially led Pennsylvania’s Department of Health as secretary since 2018, is being broadcast on television screens across the commonwealth on a daily basis as he provides regular briefings on the status of COVID-19 in the Keystone state, exhorting residents on taking care of their physical and mental health.“Your job right now is to stay calm, stay safe and please stay at home,” Levine said in a press conference on Monday, wearing a scarf, black dress with Mary Jane shoes, and nail polish.“As our commonwealth moves forward through this, it is important to note that there are also mental health resources available,” he added. “If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, contact the Crisis Text Line …”Levine is a pediatrician who founded the Division of Adolescent Medicine and Eating Disorders at Penn State Children’s Hospital on the campus of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. A graduate of Harvard and Tulane University, he obtained fellowships in pediatrics and adolescent medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York before making the move to Pennsylvania to work at the Penn State College of Medicine.“Levine … has long focused on the connection between mental and physical health,” NBC News reports.“I have always been interested in patients with eating disorders because it really is this medical-behavioral health intersection,” he also told Lancaster Online, outlining that when he worked at Penn State he “would see patients and try to help teens and young adults and their families.”In 2015, Levine became the physician general and was named acting secretary of health in July 2017. He was confirmed as secretary by the Pennsylvania Senate the following year without a single objection from Republicans or Democrats.“One of the things I’m most proud of is that I was unanimously confirmed by the Senate,” Levine told NBC, stating that he met with most of the lawmakers personally. “[They] judged me strictly on my professional qualifications.”Writing on the opioid crisis, medical marijuana, adolescent medicine, eating disorders and “LGBT medicine,” Levine is also a professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine. He was named the grand marshal of the Philadelphia Pride Parade in 2015 and is on the board of the homosexual and transgender advocacy group Equality Pennsylvania.BACKGROUNDAccording to the Washington Post, Levine, now 61, began seeing a therapist nearly 20 years ago after struggling with transgender feelings from his youth. He played football and hockey in an all-male private school and went on to marry and have children.“Boy, did I have a midlife crisis,” he said of his 40s during a speech in which he emphasized support for youth who struggle with gender identity. In 2007, at the age of 48, Levine decided to grow his hair long. In 2011, he officially began identifying as a woman and changed his name to Rachel. In 2016, while serving as physician general for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Levine told CBS 21 that it is possible that gender incongruity begins in the womb — although acknowledging that data was inconclusive.“Because of hormonal effects in utero, the brain has a gender identity which is different from the sex the child was born as,” he said. “If you look at the brain scans of a transgender woman, such as myself, then those scans, even before medical treatment, before hormones, [they] tend to look female.”“It hasn’t been 100 percent proven,” Levine added, “and science continuously is advancing, and we need to learn more, but that is the current theory of why individuals might be transgender.”HOPEAs previously reported, Christians believe that transgenderism isn’t just a medical or mental condition but primarily a spiritual issue — one that stems from the same predicament all men everywhere face without Christ. In Matthew 19:4, Jesus noted that “He which made them at the beginning made them male and female.”The Bible teaches that all are born with the Adamic sin nature, having various inherent feelings and inclinations that are contrary to the law of God, and being utterly incapable of changing by themselves. It is why Jesus came: to “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).Scripture outlines that Jesus came to be the propitiation for men’s sins (1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10), a doctrine in Christianity known as substitutionary atonement, and to save men from the wrath of God for their violations against His law (Romans 4:25, Romans 5:9, Romans 5:16), a doctrine known as justification. The Bible also teaches about regeneration, as in addition to sparing guilty men from eternal punishment, Christ sent his Holy Spirit to make those who would repent and believe the gospel new creatures in the here and now, with new desires and an ability to do what is pleasing in the sight of God by His indwelling and empowerment (Ezekiel 11:19, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:5).1 Corinthians 15:45 states, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul. The last Adam (Jesus) became a life-giving spirit.”

According to local CBS affiliate WLNY, during a press conference the governor “made it clear that the state’s new social distancing and curfew directives must be followed if the outbreak is to stop.”Speaking to New Jersey residents, the governor pleaded for compliance with the measures.“We’re doing everything we can here to ‘flatten the curve,’ to keep our distance, to please, God, stay at home whenever you can. Work from home. Certainly don’t go out at night. Find ways to keep your distance, and the extent to which we can do that we can take the pressure off the health care system, lessen the likelihood of needing surge capacity, and, most importantly, save lives in the process."Executive Order 104 includes the following provisions:• “All gatherings of persons in the State of New Jersey shall be limited to 50 persons or fewer,” excluding for certain purposes.“All public, private, and parochial preschool program premises, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, shall ... remain closed as long as this Order remains in effect.”“All institutions of higher education shall cease in-person instruction ... as long as this Order remains in effect.• Facilities closed to the public “as long as this Order remains in effect” include casinos, retail sports wagering lounges, racetracks, gyms and fitness centers, movie theaters, performing arts centers, concert venues, nightclubs, and more.• “Other non-essential retail, recreational, and entertainment businesses must cease daily operations from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.” During open hours, occupancy must be limited to 50 and social distancing guidelines must be followed.• “Restaurants, dining establishments, and food courts ... are permitted to operate their normal business hours, but are limited to offering only food delivery and/or take-out services.”In addition to the foregoing the executive order authorizes the state attorney general, working the superintendent of State Police, “to determine and control the direction of the flow of vehicular traffic on any State or interstate highway, municipal or county road, and any access road, including the right to detour, reroute, or divert any or all traffic, to prevent ingress or egress, and to determine the type of vehicle or vehicles to be operated on such roadways.”As for how the widely reported curfew might impact individual citizens, NorthJersey.com, a subsidiary of USA Today, called the measure a “voluntary statewide curfew.” The site reported that Governor Murphy had been disturbed after watching videos of people in bars.“I saw too many videos last night of packed bars, people passing bottles, drinking from the same bottle, literally globbed on top of each other,” Murphy said according to the site. “In short of shutting the entire state down, clipping establishments by a number of hours each night in particular we believe will have a meaningful, positive outcome in terms of social distancing.”Some cities in New Jersey, though, have gone beyond the state’s emergency measures. The city of Hoboken, for example, has placed “residents under curfew from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.,” according to Fox News.Related articles:Your Papers Please: Italy Fights Coronavirus with Tyranny

Governor Murphy, who’s taken our Second Amendment rights away, told NJ2AS News (on 03/27/2020) they shouldn’t have First Amendment rights. He tried to imply Alejandro Roubian is not a real journalist and should not be allowed in his pressers. Then he outright refused to answer his question. This is unreal!
I don’t offer any of this with a Pollyannaish attitude. It is born out of my experience. I was the pastor of a LGBT church in the 1990’s and I lived through the AIDS pandemic where young men in my church were dying at a rate of two to three every week. I know what it is to maintain hope amidst despair. I know what it is like to be afraid and to minister to people who are terrified. And what I also know is that we faced that pandemic with love, with hope, with resilience and with a zest for life at levels that I have never experienced since. I learned to cherish life, cherish love, cherish community. These pandemics are not analogous, but they do share the anxiety and fear that communities face.

THOSE WHO WOULD GIVE UP LIBERTY

USA – -(AmmoLand.com)-“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Benjamin FranklinWhile the original meaning of the famous quote from Mr. Franklin is taken somewhat out of context today (Franklin was writing about a dispute overtaxing the Penn family land to raise money for the French/Indian war), his original words do ring true when we speak of ceding our liberty to the government for some sense of security in the context with which we use them today. Many of us will never cede our freedom in the pursuit of temporary safety and believe that if we do, we don't deserve either. To frame it in perspective, think of the indignity suffered by law-abiding New Orleans residents during Katrina being yanked out of their homes at gunpoint by government troops using the backdrop of tragedy to forcefully confiscate private arms. Think of the search for the Boston bombers as government troops went door to door pulling people from their homes, conducting illegal searches in direct violation of their formidable 4th amendment rights. Think of power-hungry Socialist governors using media coverage of a virus, forcing private businesses to close and putting millions of Americans out of work. Not only does this threaten our economic survival but our constitutional right to bear arms during a time of media-driven hysteria, as well.As the dinosaur media continue doing irreparable harm to the bedrock of our society by sowing the seeds of panic and fear over the coronavirus with incessant headlines and coverage worthy of a biblical apocalypse, the true nature of some politicians becomes evident. None of these events in and of themselves, a storm, two terrorists, and now a virus, are the reason people were yanked from their homes, shut down their businesses, or lost everything they had. On the contrary, it is the decisions made by a man or woman who has overstepped their legal and moral authority in their quest for power using the cover of these events to do so.I've been discussing this with my listeners for the last few days and as we move deeper into the week, we're watching the usual suspects, mostly liberal socialists such as Governor Andrew Cuomo in New York and Governor Murphy in NJ, use the hysteria to shut down their states. Nothing new here, really. I'm damned glad I don't live there, under their rules.I'm not the only one that feels this way, so please allow me the disclaimer that I am not insensitive to anyone who has contracted this virus and may in the future. I'm aware that I or someone in my own family may fall victim to it. What I am referring to is the actions taken by two potent entities in America, government and corporate media, which are dominated by and sympathetic to the actions taken by totalitarian state governors such as the ones mentioned. To this end, I was pleased to see a column early this morning on another one of my sleepless nights by a man I have been critical of in the past, Judge Andrew Napolitano. His work, titled “Coronavirus Fear Lets Government Assault Our Freedom In Violation of the Constitution,” powerfully reminds us of the abuse of our 4th, 5th and 14th Amendment rights by these power-mad totalitarians saying,“Add to all this, the protection in the First Amendment of the right to associate and the judicially recognized right to travel – both of which are natural rights – and it is clear that these nanny state rules are unconstitutional, unlawful and unworthy of respect or compliance.”“Today the fear of contagion gives government cover for its assaults on freedom and poses a question the government does not want to answer: If liberty can be taken away in times of crisis, then is it really liberty; or is it just a license, via a temporary government permission slip, subject to the whims of politicians in power?” – Fox NewsAs gun owners, we've been witness to the actions of men like Cuomo, Murphy, and just about every other Socialist (formerly known as Democrats), for years. They've been attacking our natural right to self-defense their entire careers. Now, as the mainstream dinosaur media play into the hands of these extremist zealots by sowing the seeds of panic and fear, we are proven right, once again. That there are men and women, when provided the opportunity, will pursue their agenda in direct violation of our God-given rights and, in so doing, care nothing about the ramifications of their actions so long as it feeds their quest for power.Eventually, they must be stopped.About Mark WaltersMark Walters is the host of two nationally syndicated radio broadcasts, Armed American Radio and Armed American Radio's Daily Defense with Mark Walters. Following the advice of Rahm Emanuel to “never let a serious crisis go to waste,” the Surveillance Hawks in both government and Big Tech are seizing the “opportunity” provided by the coronavirus pandemic to increase surveillance of citizens.Emanuel famously said, “You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” With coronavirus quarantines, curfews, and other government-mandated measures leading the news, it is hard to keep up with all that is happening. One thing is becoming clear, though; individual liberties are taking a beating at the hands of the State. The Washington Post is reporting:The U.S. government is in active talks with Facebook, Google and a wide array of tech companies and health experts about how they can use location data gleaned from Americans’ phones to combat the novel coronavirus, including tracking whether people are keeping one another at safe distances to stem the outbreak. The sources for the Post article are described as “three people familiar with the effort” “who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the project is in its early stages.” They said that public-health experts are interested in the possibility that private-sector companies could compile the data in anonymous, aggregated form, which they could then use to map the spread of the infection, according to the Post.According to the article, analysis of trends in smartphone owners’ whereabouts could prove to be a powerful tool for health authorities looking to track coronavirus. But “it’s also an approach that could leave some Americans uncomfortable, depending on how it’s implemented, given the sensitivity when it comes to details of their daily whereabouts.” The sources are quick to point out that — if the plan moves forward — there is nothing to worry about, “they are not building a government database.” Now where has this writer heard that before? It is difficult (read: impossible) to believe such a claim, coming from Surveillance Hawks who have been caught lying time and again. With the ease and relative lack of expense to store everything, why should anyone buy into the claim that this data will not become part of a permanent record? The article says that “Google also confirmed late Tuesday it had been in conversations with government officials, tech giants and health experts” and that Google “says it is working on its own to tap its trove of location data, particularly any insights it can derive from its popular maps app. The article also quotes Google spokesman Johnny Luu as saying, “We’re exploring ways that aggregated anonymized location information could help in the fight against COVID-19. One example could be helping health authorities determine the impact of social distancing, similar to the way we show popular restaurant times and traffic patterns in Google Maps.” Luu added that any such partnership “would not involve sharing data about any individual’s location, movement, or contacts.”Of course, given Google’s record for both privacy and cooperation with the Surveillance State, that disclaimer should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. The Post also reports that “in recent interviews, Facebook executives said the U.S. government is particularly interested in understanding patterns of people’s movements, which can be derived through data the company collects from users who allow it.And a White House “official at the Office of Science and Technology Policy, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the government is ‘encouraged by American technology companies looking to leverage aggregated, anonymized data to glean key insights for covid-19 modeling efforts.’”Underlying all of this, of course, is the fact that Big Data and Big Brother can only aggregate data they are able to collect. Turn off location services. Don’t “check in” to businesses and other places. Use practical measures to protect your privacy, and your data stays where it belongs: in your hands nad under your control. This writer remembers a conversation in the wake of 9/11 and the uncertainty of what was next. A loved one asked when I thought things would “get back to normal.” I replied that I believed that ship had sailed and that “this is the new normal.” If the coronavirus scare continues to put Americans in a position to sacrifice individual liberties, the world that existed less than a month ago may be ancient history. More and more government surveillance and government control may be the “new mormal” from which America may never return.

Buyers are concerned about protecting themselves and their property from looters, as well as the possibility that government may crack down on gun rights. With COVID-19 taking center stage around the globe, Americans are becoming increasingly fearful of the coronavirus, with their fears exacerbated by the mass hysteria being generated by the media and the various health organizations around the world. Panic has prompted shoppers to buy more items than otherwise, creating more demand for food, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. And empty shelves have Americans turning to the Second Amendment, concerned that looting may become an eventuality.Gun stores across the country have experienced an increase in gun and ammunition sales. According to Fox News, the FBI’s universal background check system has seen a 34-percent increase in February, and when news first began breaking of the virus in Wuhan, China in January, background checks increased 25 percent as people began to see the writing on the wall. As of March 15, firearm sales through dealers has increased 17-percent nationwide.Associated Press notes some of the sales are from first-time gun buyers. Betsy Terrell, a 61-year-old resident of Decatur, Georgia, purchased a handgun for the first time after witnessing long lines and panic-driven people at her local Costco, she told Associated Press.“I was beginning to see people acting oddly. That was a little unnerving,” she said. “I feel there's potential political upheaval.... It's scary. It's only now I've felt this overwhelming need to arm myself to protect myself."The spikes in sales ranged from 20 to 400 percent, Fox News reports. Even body armor requests have seen an increase in some places, underscoring the fears of mass riots as the response to coronavirus continues to become more draconian."Firearms and ammunition sales are strong this week as many gun stores are quickly trying to restock inventory. There has been an uptick in inquiries for firearms training as families seek guidance on the selection, use and storage of a new firearm," Robyn Sandoval, 45, executive director of the Austin-based "A Girl & A Gun Women's Shooting League," told Fox News. "Law-abiding Americans want to have access to firearms during times of uncertainty. Families are social distancing and stocking up on food and supplies at home. The outbreak is creating a lot of anxiety in our communities. Families who have prepared at home want to be equipped to protect themselves from any looters or violence."Jeff Knox of The Firearms Coalition made similar observations, stating that buyers appear to be “focused on home defense.”But like with the food and toilet paper, there is now growing concern that the supply will be unable to meet the demand for firearms, cautioned Eric Poole, editor of Guns and Ammo magazine."That percentage is expected to increase before the end of March dramatically. Firearm retailers and manufacturers were not prepared to meet the surge or a sustained long-term demand, so firearms and ammunition will seem to be largely absent from dealer shelves for weeks to come," Poole warned. "If firearm and ammunition manufacturers throughout the U.S. are required to keep their workforce at home, this will have a more profound effect and drive up prices, to include private transfers of firearms and ammunition, which are not monitored or recorded by the NICS system."Frank Miniter, editor in chief of the NRA’s America’s 1st Freedom magazine, contends the increase in sales is common during a crisis.“During national emergencies, gun and ammunition sales go up. This is a practical thing. Self-reliance is what communities rely on,” he said. “The rise in gun sales is the practical nature of Americans coming out."Kris Parnto, former U.S. defense contractor, Army Ranger, and owner of Battleline Tactical, contends that that spike in sales is triggered not only by fears of looting and concerns over self-defense, but by panic that the government will use this crisis to forcibly remove gun rights."I know there is a general distrust of the government, no matter which party is in charge, since gun control is always at the forefront. Uncertainty can easily turn into panic without positive reassurance," he said. "This leads to panic in the general populace; people worry that the government will forcibly take away their rights assured by the Constitution, or they panic over the shortage of items that have become necessities in our daily lives."This is not an unfounded fear. Associated Press reported earlier this week that a mayor in Illinois has already signed an executive order purportedly enabling her to ban the sale of guns or ammunition.Champaign, Illinois, Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen signed the executive order on March 12. It supposedly allows her to not only ban the sale of weapons, but to also ban the sale of alcohol and gasoline, to cut off access to electricity, gas, and water, and to “take possession of private property.”Earlier this week, the Democratic mayor of New Orleans took a similar step.____________________________________________________________Corona Ammo Shortages, Price Gouging, & Local BansKentucky: 2nd Amendment Sanctuary Movement Spreads There

Due to a historic spike in gun sales and ensuing background checks sparked by COVID-19 fears, the FBI is warning “offices in charge of conducting the background checks could shut down, effectively stopping sales.”According to Washington Examiner, “Fears of a crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in an historic spike in gun purchase background checks, leading to long delays in approval.”The FBI’s National Instant Background Criminal Background Check System (NICS) released a statement, explaining, “As the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Section works through the impact of the COVID-19 operationally, we are working to maintain our services.”“We are aware that states may be considering options to protect the health and safety of their employees, which may include a reduction in office availability or even closure to some offices,” the press release continues. The FBI conducted 1 million more background checks in the months of January and February of 2020 than they did in the same two months last year.On Monday, March 16, 2020, the FBI’s NICS told the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) background check traffic saw a 300 percent increase from the same date in 2019.Meanwhile, New Orleans, Louisiana, Fresno, California and Champaign, Illinois have outlawed the sale of firearms and ammunition in the name of coronavirus safety. That’s right, when people need to protect themselves more than ever, politicians are trying to take away their God-given rights.Perhaps now is the time to stock up while you still can.Martial Law USA 2020?

The prayer of Jorge Bergoglio, also known as Pope Francis, was posted online by Vatican News with an English translation of his remarks.“O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,” he said.“You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that, as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial,” Bergoglio stated, referring to Mary’s request of Jesus after the wedding ran out of wine. While acknowledging Jesus and the sufferings He bore, the prayer was directed solely toward Mary for protection and asking that she would help mankind conform to God’s will.“We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God,” he said. “Do not despise our pleas — we who are put to the test — and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.”According to reports, Begoglio also walked to the Basilica of St. Mary Major on Sunday to appear before the Salus Populi Romani, “Mary, Protection of the Roman People,” asking that she intercede for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.Then-leader Gregory I had the image carried throughout Rome in 593 to pray for the end of the Black Plague, and Gregory XVI prayed before it in 1837 in seeking the end of the cholera outbreak.“Mary is a mother, and a mother worries above all about the health of her children. She knows how to care for them always with great and tender love. Our Lady guards our health,” Bergoglio said, according to Catholic Philly.Bergoglio then went to the Church of San Marcello al Corso to pray before a crucifix that some consider to be “miraculous” as it remained unharmed amid a church fire in 1519. The crucifix was marched for 16 days through the streets of Rome during the plague of 1522.According to Angelus and the Catholic News Agency, Bergoglio also stopped to pray before a statue of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus.Italy has been especially hard hit by COVID-19, with over 35,000 confirmed cases as of press time and nearly 3,000 deaths. More than 8,000 cases have been confirmed in the United States as of press time, with 124 deaths. Current figures may be viewed here.Photo Credit: Billy AlexanderIS IT BIBLICAL?1 Timothy 2:5 says that there is only “one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Jesus taught in John 14:13-14, “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 16:23 likewise instructs, “Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give [it] you.”Roman Catholics believe that since Jesus heeded Mary when she asked for His help at the wedding in Cana, her requests have sway with Him even still today.“He performs His first miracle at her behest, even though He tells her it ‘is not my time.’ This is remarkable, because Jesus still does what His mother asks, even though it wasn’t time to reveal His divine powers. This shows us the powerful intercession she has with Jesus,” St. Mary’s Aggie Catholic blog claims.Scripture also prohibits communication with the dead, which is known as necromancy (Deuteronomy 18:11; Isaiah 8:19).Roman Catholics believe that Mary did not die, but ascended to Heaven like Jesus. This belief was made official Catholic doctrine by Pius XII, who wrote in 1950, “We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma that the immaculate mother of God, the ever virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.” The Feast of the Assumption, which recognizes this belief, is observed each August. The American Catholic admits, however, “Scripture does not give an account of Mary’s assumption into Heaven.”Evangelicals believe Catholics unbiblically ascribe attributes to Mary that belong to the Godhead alone, such as her all-seeing eye (omniscience), her ability to hear prayers from around the world (omnipresence), and her power to care for and protect those who entrust their very lives to her, even by intercession (omnipotence).

The president of a nationally-recognized religious liberties organization that supports the right to life is noting that the international response to COVID-19 in seeking to protect the vulnerable demonstrates the fact that life is precious. He says that this runs counter to a culture where life is often disposable, from the unborn to the elderly to those with poor health.“The fundamental reason nearly every nation is taking drastic steps to curtail the advance of the coronavirus is the belief that all life is precious,” Michael Farris posted to social media on Sunday. As officials state that the elderly and those with underlying health conditions are most at risk of having a severe response to COVID-19, Farris pointed out that those who push for the “right to die” often target this very group.“The euthanasia movement takes aim at this very population with the implicit argument that some lives no longer have sufficient value,” he noted. “[But] contrary to the euthanasia assumptions, we are making dramatic sacrifices to protect the vulnerable.”As previously reported, in 2018, an elderly scientist ended his life by lethal injection in Switzerland after stating that he “regretted” living to 104 because his “quality of life” was not what it used to be. He outlined that his eyesight was failing, that he needed assistance when crossing the street, and he wasn’t able to play tennis or perform in theater like he used to.That same year, an Oregon couple died together under the state’s assisted suicide law due to their failing health, as the husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012, and also had battled prostate cancer and heart ailments. His wife had been diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2009 and also had a heart attack that same year. They were not terminally ill, but said that “quality of life is what counts.”In his post, Farris also pointed to the bold-faced pride exhibited by post-abortive mothers, who argue that having an abortion gave them fame and fortune. However, at this time, nations are having to sacrifice their jobs and the economy in order to protect life.“The pro abortion movement has launched a ‘celebrate your abortion’ tactic. Women are proudly proclaiming that their careers and earning potential soared because they chose to sacrifice the life of their baby,” he wrote. “Yet, we are seeing a worldwide consensus develop that elevates the sanctity of life so highly that great economic and career sacrifices are being called for and made.”PhilippsAs previously reported, earlier this month, actress Busy Philipps angrily yelled into the microphone outside of the U.S. Supreme Court about how she was able to have an acting career and purchase a nice house and expensive car because she was allowed to end the life of her unborn child.“There I was sitting in Los Angeles in my beautiful office of my own late-night talk show,” she fumed. “Soon I would be driving my hybrid to my beautiful [expletive] home to kiss my beautiful and healthy children and my husband, who had taken the year off to parent so I could focus on my career.”“And I have all of this — all of it,” Philipps screamed, “because, because, because I was allowed bodily autonomy at 15!”In 2013, a woman unabashedly announced to an attendee of a pro-life event in California, “I’m a millionaire because I had an abortion when I was 18.” She later added, “I got a college degree from Berkley and a master’s degree. It’s a woman’s right to have [an abortion]!”Farris said that while he wasn’t sure about some of the public health recommendations because of their secondary impacts, “Life is indeed precious … and it is intrinsically right that the protection of life is the highest value.”“If the view that life is precious and all should be protected no matter how small or vulnerable gains ascendancy in the hearts of the vast majority, then we can just pause and thank God,” he wrote.“Something that the spiritual forces of darkness foisted on mankind for evil purposes can be turned for good if we indeed soften our hearts and use our heads to embrace the ultimate sanctity of every person no matter how small.”Psalm 8:3-6 says, “When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained, what is man that Thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands. Thou hast put all things under his feet.”Psalm 139:17-18 reads, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand.”

As of this writing, 6,400 people all over the world have died from the coronavirus. In the United States, 68 people have died. Some perspective:Chinese deaths (3,217) account for half of the worldwide total. If you add Italy (1,441) and Iran (724), two countries where many Chinese were allowed in until recently, that totals another 2,165. In other words, outside of China, Italy and Iran — with 5,382 deaths collectively — 1,018 people have died. There are 7.8 billion people in the world.Regarding Italy, the Jerusalem Post of March 16 reported that according to Nobel Prize-winning chemist Michael Levitt, “Italy’s higher death rate was likely due to the fact that elderly people make up a greater percentage of the population than they do in other countries such as China or France.” As former CBS correspondent Sharyl Attkisson further explained: “Italy has the oldest population in Europe and more elderly per capita than the U.S. Most of the Italian deaths are in patients in their 80s and 90s. In addition, Italy has a great number of direct China contacts. Italy was the first to join China’s ‘silk road’ economic partnership project … (Italy’s) deaths are out of a population of 60 million people.”Regarding Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported on March 11:“Iranian officials trace the origins of the country’s coronavirus epidemic to the holy city of Qom, home to … a number of Chinese-backed infrastructure projects built by scores of workers and technicians from China … ‘(China has) turned into a very toxic bomb,’ said Sanam Vakil, deputy Middle East director at Chatham House, a think tank in London.”Meanwhile, President Donald Trump announced a ban on flights from China on Jan. 31 — for which he was denounced by leading Democrats and throughout the left. The very next day, presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden declared, “This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia — hysterical xenophobia — and fearmongering.” On Feb. 2, the American Civil Liberties Union announced, “These measures are extraordinary incursions on liberty and fly in the face of considerable evidence that travel bans and quarantines can do more harm than good.”The current consensus favors near-total social isolation, or “social distancing,” as it is now called. The thinking is that we must shut down the Western world to prevent the exponential growth of the virus. If we don’t, our hospital systems will be overwhelmed. Many thousands, maybe more, would die, as doctors have to make grisly triage decisions as to who gets care and who doesn’t. This latter scenario is reported to have already happened in Italy.Though there is no longer an exponential growth in the United States, they may otherwise be right. Is this thinking correct? The truth is we don’t know.We have no idea how many people carry the COVID-19 coronavirus. Therefore, the rates of either critical illness or death are completely unknown. Perhaps millions of people have the virus and nothing serious develops, in which case we would have rates of death similar to (or even below) the flu virus. On the other hand, perhaps not many people carry the virus, but the rates of illness demanding intensive care and of death are much greater than those of the flu.We can only be certain that shutting down virtually every part of society will result in a large number of people economically ruined, life savings depleted, decades of work building a restaurant or some other small business destroyed. As if that were not bad enough, the ancillary effects would include increased depression and divorce and other personal tragedies. The effects of closing schools for weeks or months will include family chaos, vast numbers of bored young people, health care providers who will have to stay home and more. Yet young people are the least likely people to become ill from the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released this statement regarding closing schools:Available modeling data indicate … that other mitigation efforts (e.g., handwashing, home isolation) have more impact on both spread of disease and health care measures. In other countries, those places who (sic) closed school (e.g., Hong Kong) have not had more success in reducing spread than those that did not (e.g., Singapore). But the longer-term ripple effects are potentially far worse. Economic disasters rarely remain only economic disasters. To give a particularly dramatic example, the Nazis came to power because of economics more than any other single reason, including Germany’s defeat in World War I, the Versailles Treaty or anti-Semitism. Nazi success at the polls was almost entirely related to the Weimar economy. Communist parties don’t fare well in robust economies, but they’re very tempting when people are in dire economic straits. Only God knows what economic dislocation the shutting down of American and other Western economies will lead to. I am not predicting a Nazi or communist ascendancy, but economic and political disaster may be as likely, or even more likely, than a health disaster. But here is a prediction: If the government can order society to cease functioning, from restaurants and other businesses to schools, due to a possible health disaster, it is highly likely that a Democratic president and Congress will similarly declare emergency and assert authoritarian rule in order to prevent what they consider the even greater “existential threat” to human life posed by global warming. The dam has been broken. Maybe it was necessary. But when dams break, flooding follows.
