An illegal alien responsible for a traffic accident that killed four family members during their vacation to Disney World has received a charge of careless driving in Florida.

Lucas Dos Reis Laurindo of Brazil, who is in the United States illegally, was driving a pickup truck on FL-429 last month when traffic began to slow — but Laurindo did not slow down in time, resulting in a direct collision with the Smith family’s Toyota Sienna, which was overturned in the crash.
The impact killed five-year-old Scarlett; her 12-year-old brother, Jaxon; their 41-year-old mother, Julie; and 76-year-old grandmother, Josephine.
Jaxon was pronounced dead the day after the accident. The other three, who were in the back seat, were killed when the vehicle flipped over.
Also in the car, but surviving the crash, were Josephine’s husband, Bill; Julie’s husband, Shane; and daughters Shalie and Skylar. The Smiths were visiting Florida from Massachusetts.
The Florida Highway Patrol performed an investigation into the crash. The result was the issuance of a careless driving ticket to Laurindo. In Florida, a careless driving ticket comes with a fine between $160 and $500, along with four points on the offender’s driver’s license.
The consequences for careless driving are less severe than they are for the related charge of reckless driving, the difference being that in the former, the driver is unaware he is operating his vehicle dangerously, whereas in the latter he is aware.
“The result of the crash investigation has determined that Mr. Dos Reis Laurindo was at fault for the collision,” said the Florida Highway Patrol in a statement made three weeks after the accident. “Under Florida law, the strongest charge that could be made against him, is a ticket issued for careless driving.”
Florida currently does not allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses. Driving without a license, as in the case of Laurindo, is a misdemeanor under state law punishable by up to 60 days in prison, though law-enforcement statements do not indicate this action was taken against the Brazilian national.
Laurindo is now in federal custody at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Glades County, Florida — on immigration charges unrelated to the crash. He was arrested while trying to board a plane back to his native Brazil, ostensibly for working unlawfully while in the country.
Laurindo is petitioning U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to allow him “to board his flight to Brazil.” His petition reads that he was taken into custody on February 21.
The Brazilian’s fate would have been a mere slap on the wrist had ICE not stepped in and delivered some justice by arresting him — even if it was for charges unrelated to the accident.
Of course, though he apparently did not have a violent record, Laurindo would still have been kept from slaying the Smiths had U.S. immigration law been enforced and the illegal driver been barred from entering the country for which he did not have a visa.
While Laurindo did not appear to have an ICE detainer on him, there have been many other cases in which crimes could have been prevented had sanctuary jurisdictions cooperated with immigration officials. (Detainers are given when ICE’s Criminal Alien Program makes a match between the biometric data of an arrestee and his criminal and immigration history. A detainer to a local law-enforcement agency means ICE expects to be notified when an alien is released from custody so he can be placed in the hands of immigration and deportation procedures can commence.)
A recently published report by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General spoke of the dangers posed by the policy of sanctuary cities and states to ignore detainers issued by ICE.
The OIG report reads:
Through its Criminal Alien Program (CAP), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can successfully identify aliens charged with or convicted of crimes. However, because ICE relies on cooperation from other law enforcement agencies, ICE sometimes faces challenges apprehending aliens in uncooperative jurisdictions. ICE’s inability to detain aliens identified through CAP contributes to increased risk those aliens will commit more crimes. Furthermore, having to arrest “at-large” aliens may put officer, detainee, and public safety at risk and strains ICE’s staffing resources.
For example, there is the recent case of 34-year-old Christopher Puente of Mexico, who sexually assaulted a three-year-old girl after being let go by Chicago authorities despite having an ICE detainer on him.
The White House has pointed to the story of 92-year-old Maria Fuentes, who was sexually assaulted and murdered in New York City. The suspect is an illegal alien who has a detainer against him, yet was freely released in November.
When ICE is the only entity preserving law and order in such tragic situation, it’s no wonder the anarchistic open-borders Left wants to abolish it.

The animated children’s show “Clifford the Big Red Dog,” based on the writings of author and cartoonist Norman Bridwell, has been rebooted after 17 years, and the new season introduces a girl named Samantha who has two mothers.
According to reports, in the episode “The Big Red Tomato/Dogbot,” main character Emily Elizabeth and her mother hold an outdoor dinner party attended by her new friend Samantha and two women.
While the women are not overtly identified as Samantha’s mothers in that particular episode, in subsequent broadcasts, Samantha refers to them both as “Mom.” The show’s credits also refer to the women as “Mrs. Mulberry” and “Dr. Mulberry,” according to Christian Headlines.
“In the episode titled ‘The Birdwell Island Blues/The Big Red World,’ she calls Dr. Mulberry ‘Mom,’ and in ‘Making Lemonade Out of Lemons/The Watering Hole,’ she calls Ms. Mulberry ‘Mom,'” the outlet explains.
“Clifford the Big Red Dog” is available on both PBS Kids and Amazon Prime and is produced by Scholastic Entertainment.
“Clifford has been a beloved friend and enduring presence in children’s lives for more than 50 years,” Iole Lucchese, Scholastic chief strategy officer and executive producer, told Animation Magazine.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the reimagined Clifford the Big Red Dog series to a new generation of families, including the millennials who grew up with Clifford and now get to share his stories of loyalty and kindness with their own children.”
Scholastic has not specifically commented on the homosexuality aspect of the reboot.
As previously reported, homosexuality and drag have made their way into children’s programming in recent years. In 2017, the preschooler-geared cartoon “Doc McStuffins” featured an animated depiction of the lesbian moms of two children. That same year, “Star vs. the Forces of Evil” included a scene where two boys locked lips, as well as two girls.
In 2018, World of Wonders debuted the cartoon “Drag Tots,” which featured animated “baby drag queens” voiced by cast members of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and Netflix announced the children’s series “Super Drags,” which centered on the fictional tales of drag queen superheroes.
Last year, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” featured lesbian aunts during its final season, and Mr. Ratburn, the elementary school teacher in the long-running PBS children’s cartoon “Arthur” came out as homosexual, “marrying” an aardvark named Patrick in the episode “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone.”
The new Disney-Pixar film “Onward,” which centers on wizardry and necromancy, also features a line where a cyclops police officer — voiced by a homosexual screenwriter — subtly reveals to viewers that she is a lesbian.
Ephesians 6:4 teaches that parents are to raise their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” Psalm 78 also outlines that God’s law is to be passed down from generation to generation, that children may not rebel against the Lord as their fathers once did.
“He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children, that the generation to come might know them — even the children which should be born, who should arise and declare them to their children,” it declares.
“That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments, and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation — a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.”

“Her upbringing was ‘traditional, progressive Christian/Presbyterian.'”

Hagstrom Miller: “Absolutely. I was raised in a liberal Christian tradition, and I come to the work because of that background, not in spite of it. I’m drawn to the moral and ethical dimension of the values and dreams and all of the issues that surround an abortion decision. A lot of women have spiritual concerns as part of unplanned pregnancy. We welcome women to bring their whole family with them for the ultrasound, counseling, or the procedure. That is part of our mission.”
“The Jesus that I was taught about would be holding the hands of women inside the clinic; he wouldn’t be screaming at them. Acting on Christian principles is holding the hands of people at difficult times in their lives, and being supportive and nonjudgmental and kind. That is very much what we bring to the work. I don’t know how to say it more clearly than that.”

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The mayor of Minneapolis, Minnesota declared March 10 to be “Abortion Provider Appreciation Day” in recognition of a local abortion facility that he called “an essential part of our community,” and the city council of Saint Paul, named after the apostle Paul, voted unanimously to “celebrate the courage” and “high-quality care” of those who murder unborn children.
“Every day, abortion providers like Whole Woman’s Health deliver high quality care in the face of harassment and threats to abortion access at the federal and local levels,” Mayor Jacob Frey said in a statement. “I’m proud to recognize today as Abortion Provider Appreciation Day to celebrate Whole Woman’s Health as an essential part of our community.”
Whole Woman’s Health has been in operation in the city since 2012, and according to its website, it offers abortions up to nearly 24 weeks (6 months) gestation, as well as birth control and testing for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Abortion pills cost $675, and surgical first trimester abortions are $700.
Second trimester abortions cost up to $2,500 depending on the child’s gestational age.
Surgical abortion for first trimester abortions customarily include the methods of aspiration curettage, suction curettage and manual vacuum aspiration, which involve using suction to forcefully rip the baby from the womb and into a tube.
Second trimester babies are removed by dilation and evacuation, also known as dismemberment abortion, and involve ripping the alive baby piece-by-piece from the womb and then re-assembling his or her body on a tray to ensure that no body parts were left behind.
Whole Woman’s Health has facilities in seven states and estimates having upwards of 30,000 women a year walk through its doors. The chain identifies itself as a “feminist healthcare management company committed to providing holistic care for all.”
The Minneapolis facility applauded Frey’s proclamation on Tuesday, remarking in a statement, “When our elected officials recognize the work we do as providers to deliver abortion care, our communities are healthier and safer. We are so grateful to Mayor Frey for recognizing Whole Woman’s Health, and for all the work his administration has done to support reproductive health care access in Minneapolis.”
According to reports, Abortion Provider Appreciation Day was first declared in 1996 to recognize the death of David Gunn, an abortionist who was killed in 1993.
“The Saint Paul City Council recognizes March 10, 2020, as Abortion Providers Appreciation Day to honor Dr. Gunn’s memory, to combat the stigma that many abortion providers and clinic staff face, and to celebrate the courage, compassion, and high-quality care they provide,” the Saint Paul resolution states, according to the Minnesota Sun.
The resolution was passed last Wednesday via a vote of 7-0, with council members Rebecca Noecker, Nelsie Yang, Dai Thao and Jane Prince sponsoring the proposal.
“The Supreme Court of the United States now contains a majority of justices who may not interpret the Constitution to provide protection for the right to end a pregnancy and may overturn or severely limit Roe v. Wade, which includes the threat of patients and abortion providers being arrested and sent to jail,” the document states.
Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, R-Nisswa, took to Twitter about the matter on Thursday, expressing dismay that a city would want to celebrate abortion.
“I believe we should protect human life from conception to natural death. But why would the St. Paul city council choose to ‘celebrate’ abortion?” he asked. “Some may think it’s a necessary evil, but to celebrate abortion is bizarre.”

As previously reported, a number of abortion advocates have “celebrated” their abortions and have encouraged others to do so.
In 2018, the “Thank God for Abortion” float appeared in the 2018 New York City Pride parade.
“[A]utonomy is where we meet as a queer community. That’s what it’s about—I have a right to do what I want with this body,” said organizer Viva Ruiz. “This is a march in independence from a police state; a break from subjugation. That’s where we meet. Physical personhood. Autonomy.”
“And that’s where the joy comes in. We celebrate our right,” Ruiz continued. “I celebrate your right to have 20 abortions. I’ll throw you a party. Or zero. It’s a celebration.”
That same year, Amelia Bonow, the founder of the “Shout Your Abortion” movement, released a book featuring stories from women who were “not sorry” for their abortion.
“One in four of us have had lives that were determined in monumental ways by our abortions, and the vast majority of us do not regret our decisions,” it states.
Bonow also wrote an article in 2015, published by Salon, entitled “My Abortion Made Me Happy: The Story That Started the #shoutyourabortion Movement.” The piece, which used profanity and crude language, expressed no remorse for the ending of her unborn child’s life after finding herself pregnant out of wedlock, but rather only bold-faced pride.
“I’m telling you my story plainly, proudly, flippantly even, because we have all been brainwashed to believe that the absence of negative emotions around having an abortion is the mark of an emotionally bankrupt person. It’s not,” she wrote. “I have a good heart and my abortion made me happy.”
In January, a profane and vulgar art exhibit called “Abortion Is Normal” went on display in New York City, featuring paintings, photographs and other creations from over 60 abortion “rights” advocates, including a piece of “artwork” that featured a drawing of a woman’s private parts, and a photograph of a topless woman giving the middle finger.
Jeremiah 17:9 says of the human heart in its unregenerated Adamic nature, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it?” It is why Jesus said in John 3:3, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Scripture also teaches that men and women are to glorify God with their bodies, and no longer live in autonomy unto themselves, but to give their all to Him.
2 Corinthians 5:15 reads, “He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them and rose again.”
1 Corinthians 6:20 also states, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Romans 6:13 and 19 instruct, “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. … [F]or as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.”
