BURLINGTON, Vt. — The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has sided with a nurse who filed a complaint in May 2018 against the University of Vermont Medical Center after she was allegedly forced to assist with an abortion despite her moral objections. The hospital denies the allegations, but admits that its policy may require nurses to assist in emergency situations despite their desire to opt out.
“Forcing medical staff to assist in the taking of human life inflicts a moral injury on them that is not only unnecessary and wrong, it violates longstanding federal law,” Roger Severino, the director of HHS’ Office of Civil Rights, said in a statement.
“Our investigation has uncovered serious discrimination by UVMMC against nurses and staff who cannot, in good conscience, assist in elective abortions,” he noted. “We stand ready to assist UVMMC in changing its policies and procedures to respect conscience rights and remedy the effects of its discrimination.”
According to a press release from HHS, the nurse — who is not being publicly identified — was assigned to assist with an abortion despite staff knowing about her objection for years. She was not specifically advised that she was to participate in an abortion until she walked into the room, at which point, the acting physician remarked, “Don’t hate me.”
Upon realizing what her assignment entailed, the nurse again objected, but was allegedly forced to assist. She told HHS that she feared if she did not comply, she would either lose her job or be reported to her licensing agency.
The Office of Civil Rights investigated and found that other personnel had been assigned to assist with abortions, without knowing in advance and despite their stated religious or moral objections.
It also discovered that the medical center has a policy that requires staff to participate in certain situations despite their desire to opt out, which violates federal law — specifically the Church Amendments  — as well as HHS grant regulations.
HHS says the the University of Vermont Medical Center has not been cooperative in providing requested documents, but is giving the healthcare facility 30 days to advise the government of its willingness to amend its policy or be subject to potential loss of its federal funding.
Vermont Medical Center told the Burlington Free Press that it feels it is being “blackmailed” into changing its policy.
“They threatened to take back $1.6 million for services, but we won’t be blackmailed into changing our policy,” Interim President Dr. Stephen Leffler said. “Our hope is they don’t take the dollars back. It will harm other people who have nothing to do with this.”
Leffler said that employees can opt out of objectionable procedures, but if a “critical situation” arises, such as one that is deemed life-threatening, they may be asked to assist regardless.
“We do everything in our power to make sure people who want to opt out can,” he explained, “but our policy is built with patient protection in mind.”
“They believe people should have the 100 percent option to opt out, even if it puts a patient’s life at risk,” Leffler added. “We disagree with that.”
Leffler also disagreed with the HHS characterization of the situation, stating that the medical center investigated the matter and the allegations “are not supported by the facts.” He also argued that the hospital is willing to meet to officials but has never been approached about doing so.
“The University of Vermont Medical Center has robust, formal protections that safeguard both our employees’ religious, ethical and cultural beliefs, and our patients’ rights to access safe and legal abortion,” the facility said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We nonetheless remain willing to work cooperatively with OCR to identify any ways in which we can further support our employees’ conscience and religious rights, in a manner that is consistent with high-quality patient care, and the other legal and ethical obligations we have to our patients.”

Security guard jailed for indecent assault of girl, 3, at Sydney mall | Nine News Australia

It was described in court as “every parent’s worst nightmare,” a three-old-girl led away from a playground and indecently assaulted at the DFO in Homebush. The security guard who did this has been jailed for at least two and a half years.

PM to deport Sydney security guard who assaulted toddler | Nine News Australia

Yesterday Jihad Watch reported on this story, and here is a new development: “Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said his government will ‘boot out’ a convicted child sex offender all the way back to his homeland Iraq once his prison sentence has been finished. Iraqi-born refugee Mohammad Hassan Al Bayati, 30, was sentenced Tuesday for the sickening sexual assault of a three-year-old girl in December 2016.”
Kudos to Morrison.
Al Bayati worked as a security guard, and used his position of trust to lead a three-year-old toddler away and sexually assault her. He was caught on camera. Al Bayati then berated the toddler’s mother about leaving the child unattended. He subsequently denied the assault “despite being found guilty,” and reportedly boasted to detectives “to check his phone to ‘see how many girls I have.’” Although every culture has sex offenders, Islam is the only faith that sanctions sex abuse of infidels, even children.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa permitting “sexual experiences” with girls of all ages.  He stated:
Anyone who has a wife less than nine years of age is not allowed to engage in sexual intercourse, whether she is his permanent or temporary wife. However, other forms of sexual pleasures are permitted, such as touching with lust, hugging, and rubbing penis between the buttocks and thighs; even if she is a nursing baby.
“Australia to ‘Boot Out’ Iraqi-Born Convicted Child Sex Offender,” by Simon Kent, Breitbart, August 28, 2019:
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said his government will “boot out” a convicted child sex offender all the way back to his homeland Iraq once his prison sentence has been finished. Iraqi-born refugee Mohammad Hassan Al Bayati, 30, was sentenced Tuesday for the sickening sexual assault of a three-year-old girl in December 2016.
He was working as a security guard at at a Sydney shopping centre when he took the girl away from the centre’s playground while her mother was Christmas shopping.
Security camera vision shows Al Bayati taking the girl into an area without surveillance, where he assaulted her. A jury found Al Bayati exposed his genitals and touched the girl’s underwear during the 11 minutes they spent in a stairwell.
The New South Wales District Court sent Al Bayati to jail for four-and-a-half years’ jail, with a non-parole period of two-and-a-half years.
He came to Australia by boat from Iraq in 2011, and was given a permanent protection visa to stay.
“This bloke has no right being here, he’s abused the generosity of a country that gave him a new start, and it was absolutely appalling,” Mr Morrison told local news outlet Channel Seven.
“And just because you’re on a permanent protection visa, it’s a warning to anyone. Once he’s been released from jail, he’ll go immediately into detention and we’ll deport him from there,” Morrison explained.
“If you come here on a visa and you violate our laws, we will boot you out.”
Mr Morrison previously noted laws he was responsible for as immigration minister, under then prime minister Tony Abbott, made it mandatory for non-Australian citizens to have their visas cancelled if they were convicted of a crime carrying a punishment of more than a year in jail….

A conservative watchdog group has filed a complaint with the FEC in connection with congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s alleged affair with a Democrat consultant. One America’s Jack Posobiec has more on the freshman lawmaker’s latest scandal.
Rep. Omar dismisses questions on alleged affair

Ilhan Omar: Let’s Put the UN in Charge of the Southern Border

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Wednesday told a South Minneapolis audience that she wants to see an overhaul of U.S. immigration policy that would include bringing in the United Nations to handle the mass migration at the southern border.
Claiming that Americans are “losing our moral high ground” on immigration, the Somali-born congresswoman argued that the UN would run migration flow more “humanely.”
“We should do what any other country does, by dealing with this situation in a serious way,” she said. “So we have to bring in the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees — an agency that has the expertise and the training to handle massive flows of refugees humanely.”
Such a move would undermine American sovereignty and place our immigration system in the hands of a UN leadership that seeks to create open borders and erode our nation’s autonomy.
Omar made her comments while speaking at a town hall. She countered the rhetoric of President Trump and his supporters, disputing characterization of current migration levels as an “invasion.”
“What we face is not an invasion,” Omar said. “This is not an invasion, it’s an immigration crisis.”
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), apprehensions at the southwest border during fiscal year 2019 alone have been over 750,000 — and that doesn’t include illegal aliens who escaped apprehension and have successfully entered the country.
“We’re all here tonight because we all recognize that immigration is one of the defining civil rights and human rights issue of our time,” Omar added.
As a member of “The Squad,” a group of four freshman Democratic congresswomen pulling their party further leftward, Omar holds a progressive stance on migration, favoring policies that would relax enforcement and allow greater entry of illegal aliens.
“There is no good way to detain immigrants,” Omar told her audience. “We are treating people like criminals when they have not committed a crime.”
The logical conclusion of such rhetoric is the decriminalization of illegal border crossings — a platform of some Democratic presidential candidates, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro, and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
The decriminalization of illegal border crossings, along with an end to detainment of illegal aliens, would effectively create an open border.
Omar has also called for the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and co-sponsored legislation this summer that would prohibit federal agencies from using the word “alien” to refer to persons in the country illegally.
Jennifer Carnahan, chairwoman of the Republican Party of Minnesota, criticized Omar and defended the Trump administration’s focus on stopping illegal migration through stricter enforcement.
“President Trump and Republicans in Congress have been working to address the crisis at the border while Democrats have been more interested in obstructing to score political points,” Carnahan said in a statement.
Omar’s remarks on migration surfaced at the same time she is involved in another controversy: A possible campaign-finance violation related to Omar’s giving of travel reimbursements to a consultant who is alleged to have been her paramour.
Despite not having a full congressional term under her belt, Omar has become notably adept at drawing media attention.

Minnesota Students Assigned to Color Reverential Photos of Rep. Ilhan Omar

Scandal-ridden congresswoman is treated as an icon

In her short time in Congress, freshman U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar has made a name for herself as a vehement anti-Semite. She infamously invoked age-old anti-Semitic tropes when she tweeted “It’s all about the Benjamins [$100 bills], baby,” accusing the pro-Israel organization AIPAC of donating to politicians in order to secure favorable treatment of the Jewish state. Omar is also an ardent supporter of the Hamas-funded Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.  Now it appears that despite her highly controversial record and short career in public service, schoolchildren in Minnesota are being taught to venerate the fledgling politician.
John Hinderaker the President of the Center of the American Experiment located in Omar’s home state of Minnesota, reports on Powerline’s blog that a public elementary school in the state assigned its students to color in reverential pictures of Omar and also to write a report on the Congresswoman.
“This photo came from a public elementary school in Minneapolis,” Hinderaker reports, citing an image featuring a display of coloring pages that each depict Omar standing with an almost military bearing, face upturned, staring off into the distance. She is wearing a headscarf and keffiyeh (prayer shawl). Several detailed floral designs are arranged around her face. “I’ve been told that the same coloring project has been reported in at least one suburban school district, but I don’t have definite confirmation of that yet,” Hinderaker adds. He does not identify the school districts participating in the assignment.
As Hinderaker points out, Omar is a highly successful politician, who has raised “three to five times as much” in campaign donations as other U.S. House members from Minnesota. Apparently, Minnesota’s public schools are doing whatever they can to cement her reputation as an icon.
“Omar is being raised to heroic status in her district’s public schools,” writes Hinderaker. “Elementary school students are apparently being taught to revere her, much as, in recent years, they have been taught to see Martin Luther King, Jr. as a kind of secular saint. Someone has distributed an Ilhan Omar card that students are instructed to color, while writing a ‘report’ on the inside. I assume those reports are paeans to the Congresswoman.”
Congresswoman Omar’s questionable actions and comments extend well beyond her hatred of Israel. She served as the keynote speaker at a recent event to benefit the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization known for its strong ties to Islamic extremism. Steven Pomerantz, the former chief of counter-terrorism at the FBI has baldly stated that “CAIR, its leaders and its activities effectively give aid to international terrorist groups.”
At that event Omar shared the stage with CAIR-Florida executive director Hassan Shibly, who refuses to classify Hezbollah and Hamas as terrorist organizations. During her speech, Omar notoriously referred to the 9/11 attacks in which approximately 3000 American citizens died as “some people did something.”
Omar’s record in the Minnesota State House of Representatives, where she served as a representative from 2016-2018, is also troubling. In 2017, Omar voted against a bill that would allow life insurance companies to refuse to pay benefits in cases where the insured party died while committing an act of terrorism—one of only two state representatives to do so. She also opposed a bill which would make it a felony for parents to make their daughters undergo female genital mutilation.
Other allegations against the Congresswoman are deeply disturbing. The Minnesota Sun reported in October 2018 that “probable cause” existed to show that Omar together with her campaign committee to elect her to the state legislature in 2016 had committed “at least three separate [campaign finance] violations, including the alleged use of campaign funds to pay off legal fees related to her divorce.”
Online encyclopedia of the left, Discoverthenetworks.org, also reports that during her run for the Minnesota House in 2016, Omar “faced highly credible allegations that – in an effort to perpetrate immigration fraud and/or student loan fraud – she had married her own brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, in 2009 and was still legally his wife.” Omar responded by claiming these reports were “disgusting lies” made by those who are “deeply invested in stopping a progressive, black, Muslim, hijab-wearing, immigrant woman.”
Congresswoman Omar is establishing her own legacy—one in which scandals percolate and anti-Semitism, and apologetics for Islamic extremism take center stage. Minnesota’s public schools are attempting to give her a very different one.

Anti-compulsory hijab campaigner Saba Kordafshari’s fight for women’s rights

White Wednesdays campaigner Saba Kordafshari’s fight for women’s rights in Iran. She was sentenced to 24 years in prison for demanding an end to compulsory hijab. She is one of millions of Iranian women to protest against compulsory hijab.

American feminists were too busy with preparations for their next Hijab Day to
take any notice.

“Iranian women’s rights activist, 20, is jailed for 15 years for ‘spreading prostitution by taking off her hijab,’” by Chris Pleasance, MailOnline, August 28, 2019:
An Iranian women’s rights activist has been jailed for a total of 24 years – including a 15-year term for ‘spreading prostitution by taking off her hijab’.
Saba Kord Afshari, 20, was handed the sentence Tuesday by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court after being found guilty of removing her headscarf as well as ‘spreading propaganda against the state’ and ‘assembly and collusion’.
Afshari and her mother, Raheleh Ahmadi, had been prominent members of the White Wednesdays protest group, which spoke out against the compulsory hijab.
The pair routinely posted videos of themselves walking around the streets of Tehran without their headscarves to encourage other women to flout the law.
She was first arrested in the Iranian capital in August last year and jailed for a year, according to Iran Human Rights Monitor.
Afshari was released in February but continued to protest against human rights abuses by the Iranian regime, which saw her re-arrested in June.
She eventually ended up in the women’s wing of Evin Prison, in Tehran, where human rights groups say she was pressured into making video confessions of her crimes.
Despite her mother also being arrested, Afshari refused to record the videos….
Rejecting hijab dooms woman to 24 years in prison

You may never have heard of Saba Kord-Afshari, but the 20-year-old Iranian woman was sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday for the crime of defying the country’s ‘hijab law’ that forbids all women in Iran from displaying their uncovered head in public.
Kord-Ashrafi is just one of many courageous Iranian Muslim women who have defied the country’s mullahs and their female enforcers by observing what is now known as ‘White Wednesdays’ when girls and women take off their hijabs and bare their hair in public.
Her shocking conviction would have gone unnoticed and unreported had it been left to the mainstream media in Canada, who were too busy celebrating the cloth as exotic attire.
But Irvin Cotler is not one to be silenced. He along with Iranian feminist Masih Alinejad were among the first to bring the injustice towards Kord-Ashrafi to the world’s attention. The former attorney general of Canada and human rights crusader tweeted: “Condemn the brutal & unjust sentence of #SabaKordafshari, who at only 20 years old has just been sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment. Her “crime”? Speaking out for women’s rights in #Iran. We must all, wherever we are, stand in solidarity with Saba & #WhiteWednesdays prisoners.”
Saba Kord-Afshari’s trial began on Aug. 19 when she was charged with “spreading corruption and prostitution by taking off her hijab and walking without a veil [hijab].”
As Iranian, Saudi and other Muslim women around the globe struggled for freedom from the hijab, which they consider a political symbol that has nothing to do with piety, the reaction among the liberal circles in the West was confounding. Here an increasing number of feminists, leftists and the liberal media glorified the hijab as some exotic symbol of women’s liberation that had to be embraced.
On the day Saba Kord-Afshari was imprisoned for 24 years for daring to dump her hijab, that same piece of headdress was depicted in positive light by the Toronto Star in a story on its financial pages about “How to put your investments where your social conscience is.”
The story showed a smiling woman attired in hijab surrounded by words “ethics”, “integrity”, “respect”, “reliable”, “teamwork” and “ethics” rotating around her as she clicked a “Core Values” button in the centre.
It did make me wonder about the world of guilt and fantasy some of my more liberal colleagues live in.
The hijab, as colleague Farzana Hassan and myself have insisted for years on these pages, is a political symbol, not one of piety.
This is best demonstrated by North America’s top protagonist of the hijab, U.S. Congresswomen Ilhan Omar who told Vogue magazine that wearing her hijab allows her to be a “walking billboard” … “To me, the hijab means power, liberation, beauty, and resistance,” she added.
Had the hijab been a symbol of piety, I doubt any Muslim woman would flaunt it while dating married men as is being alleged by a DC woman who claims Rep. Omar and her husband are having an affair.
While Islamists and liberal Canadians fawn over hijabs, Yasmine Mohammed, an Egyptian shared a very unsympathetic judgment on that piece of cloth. She tweeted: “To me, the hijab means female subjugation, victim-blaming, and perpetuation of rape culture.”
A harsh view, but one that resonates with many Muslim victims of Islamism.

Update Aug. 30: Following this IPT report, the Commerce Department confirms that it dropped the partnership with CAIR. Click here for details.
Federal law enforcement knows enough about the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to order its agents not to engage with the group outside of criminal investigations. But despite that, the U.S. Census Bureau believes the conservative, Sunni-dominated Islamist organization is a trustworthy organization to partner with in next year's national population count.
"CAIR is proud to partner with the U.S. Census Bureau to ensure American Muslims are fairly and accurately counted in the 2020 Census," Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a CAIR news release. "Full participation in the census ensures that American Muslims will be better represented in Congress and that their communities receive an equal share in state and federal programs."
It isn't clear what CAIR or the Census Bureau will do as part of the partnership. The statement indicated CAIR will promote participation in the Census and advise people how to avoid scams. The Census Bureau did not respond to a request for comment.
"CAIR wants to ensure that that not only are American Muslim communities being fairly counted – but that their neighborhoods are getting a fair share in federal and state funding," the CAIR release said.
Internal documents seized by the FBI show that CAIR and its founders, Omar Ahmadand Nihad Awad, were deeply involved in a Hamas-support network in America created by the Muslim Brotherhood. A committee report described the group's missionas "defending the Islamic cause in Palestine and support for the emerging movement, the Hamas Movement."
Both Ahmad and Awad appear on the "Palestine Committee" telephone list (Ahmad is listed as "Omar Yehya"), and CAIR is listed on a meeting agenda which named the committee's branches.
"[U]ntil we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and HAMAS," a senior FBI official wrote in 2009, "the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner."
The policy remains in effect a decade later. The FBI's conclusion was shared by federal prosecutors and a U.S. District Court judge who reviewed the evidence.
Records seized by the FBI "do create at least a prima facie case as to CAIR's involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas," U.S. District Court Judge Jorge Solis wrote in 2009.
"CAIR," prosecutors wrote, "has been identified by the Government at trial as a participant in an ongoing and ultimately unlawful conspiracy to support a designated terrorist organization, a conspiracy from which CAIR never withdrew."
CAIR has never acknowledged its Palestine Committee connections or tried to argue that it moved away from that support. Its leaders refuse to condemn Hamas, often angrily. Awad continues to promote anti-Israel rhetoric, as in 2014, calling the Jewish state "the biggest threat to world peace and security."
Awad publicly expressed support for Hamas in 1994 – the year CAIR was founded – over the Palestine Liberation Organization.
In a 1998 speech, Awad openly referenced Jewish advisers in the Clinton administration as the driving force behind U.S. foreign policy: "Look at their names. Look at their ethnic, their ethnic or religious or racial background. You will see that these are the same groups that belong to the same interest groups in the (Clinton) Administration...they are the same people who are opposing the peace agreement (with Iraq)."
But aside from its roots in a Hamas-support network, CAIR has a history of grossly inflating the American Muslim population. It issued a report in 2001 claiming there were 6 million Muslims in the United States.
Six years later, however, the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press analyzed Census Bureau data to estimate "the total population of Muslims in the United States at 2.35 million." That number increased to 3.45 million people in 2017.
CAIR's partnership is a problem, said Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. But there's a deeper concern, which is found on the Census Bureau's website.
"The U.S. Census Bureau does not collect data on religious affiliation in its demographic surveys or decennial census. Public Law 94-521 prohibits us from asking a question on religious affiliation on a mandatory basis; in some person or household surveys, however, the U.S. Census Bureau may collect information about religious practices, on a voluntary basis."
Given that, Jasser asked, why is the Census Bureau partnering with a religious organization at all?
CAIR's announcement perpetuates a stereotype that Muslim Americans are not engaged in society. "It's counting all Americans as equals," Jasser said, "not as faith groups."
The notion that Muslims need to be encouraged to participate in the national census treats an entire population as "naïve immigrants," Jasser said. "They claim we're well-integrated. If that claim is true, why is this project necessary?"
It is important that Muslim Americans participate in the Census. CAIR's history, however, raises questions about whether the Census Bureau has partnered with an organization deserving of its trust.
Research Analyst Teri Blumenfeld contributed to this report.

First, how did Merck become the country’s sole supplier of these measles vaccines, and is that a problem? Well, is it a problem depends on who you talk to. But Merck became the sole supplier because the vaccine market is highly concentrated. It’s incredibly expensive to make vaccines. It takes a lot of time to go through all the testing procedures. So, Merck was the first to the table. They developed a vaccine, got approval. They got government contracts and they, essentially, monopolized the market.

Johnson & Johnson Fined $572 Million for “Greed” in Fueling the Opioid Crisis
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research purposes:
In a lawsuit filed by the state of Oklahoma against Johnson & Johnson, Inc., Purdue Pharma LP and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., the pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiaries were ordered on Aug. 26, 2019 to pay $572 million in penalties for helping to fuel the opioid crisis in Oklahoma.1
Before the trial began on May 28, the state had reached settlements with Purdue and Teva for $270 million and $85 million respectively.1 2 3 4
Prior to announcing his verdict, Judge Thad Balkman of Cleveland Country District in Oklahoma said, “The opioid crisis has ravaged the state of Oklahoma. It must be abated immediately.”1
According to the Associated Press, Oklahoma’s state attorney general Mike Hunter argued that Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiaries, including Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., “created a public nuisance by launching a ‘cunning, cynical and deceitful’ marketing campaign that overstated the benefits of opioid drugs for treating chronic pain and understated the risk of addiction.”3
“They’ve been the principal origin for the active pharmaceutical ingredient in prescription opioids in the country for the last two decades. It is one of the most important elements of causation with regard to why the defendants … are responsible for the epidemic in the country and in Oklahoma,” Hunter said.4
He added, “There was a simple reason for the crisis: greed. The greed of the pharmaceutical companies caused the crisis.”1 3 4
Judge Balkman’s ruling against Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary companies is the first for a state-initiated opioid lawsuit that has made it to trial. It may help determine the course of negotiations involving some 1,500 similar lawsuits filed by state, local and tribal governments against pharmaceutical companies linked to the opioid crisis.1 4
Hunter noted that the Oklahoma case could provide a “road map” for other states to follow. “That’s the message to other states: We did it in Oklahoma. You can do it elsewhere. Johnson & Johnson will finally be held accountable for thousands of deaths and addictions caused by their activities,” Hunter said.1
Johnson & Johnson is a major manufacturer of vaccines, including experimental vaccines for Ebola and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Other biologic products being developed by the company include a universal influenza vaccine and vaccines for the Zika virus and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).5 6 7 8 9
The company envisions significantly increasing its competitive position within the vaccine market. Last year, Johnson & Johnson announced completion of a new vaccine manufacturing plant in Leiden, the Netherlands, following four years of construction and an investment of €72 million. The Leiden plant was in addition to a small plant acquired through Johnson & Johnson’s purchase of Leiden-based vaccine maker Crucell NV in 2011 for $2.4 billion.8 9 10

(Friday Church News Notes, August 30, 2019, www.wayoflife.org [email protected], 866-295-4143) – The following is excerpted from David French, “A Federal Court Strikes a Powerful Blow for Freedom of Speech and Religious Freedom,”National Review, Aug. 24, 2019: “Earlier today, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the constitutional order, limited the reach of expansive nondiscrimination laws, and protected a Christian couple from having to choose between their business and their conscience. The facts of the case are simple. The plaintiffs, Carl and Angel Larsen, are videographers who create ‘commercials, short films, and live-event productions.’ While they work with anyone of any race, sex, sexual orientation, or religion, they will not produce videos that advance viewpoints that violate their Christian beliefs. That includes videos that ‘contradict biblical truth; promote sexual immorality; support the destruction of unborn children; promote racism or racial division; incite violence; degrade women; or promote any conception of marriage other than as a lifelong institution between one man and one woman.’ The Larsens hoped to begin producing wedding videos, but Minnesota interpreted its human-rights act to require them to ‘produce both opposite-sex- and same-sex-wedding videos, or none at all.’ Minnesota would also require them to produce videos that depicted ‘same- and opposite-sex weddings in an equally positive light.’ This raised the possibility that a gay couple who didn’t like the subjective quality of a video the Larsens produced for them could seek state sanctions based on alleged sexual-orientation discrimination. With the assistance of my friends and former colleagues at the Alliance Defending Freedom, the Larsens filed suit, claiming that Minnesota’s rule would compel them to speak in support of messages they oppose. The trial court ruled in favor of the state, and the Larsens appealed. One of the key constitutional questions of our time is whether the First Amendment will retain its supremacy and potency even as nondiscrimination rules and regulations expand in scope and reach. In this case, the Eight Circuit answered with an emphatic ‘Yes,’ and it did so through a majority opinion that provided a clear roadmap for future courts and future controversies. Judge David Stras’s majority opinion begins with a simple, obvious, but crucial conclusion. The Larsens’s wedding videos are a ‘form of speech that is entitled to First Amendment protection.’ … To put it plainly, Minnesota was attempting to engage in one of the most intrusive state actions on the First Amendment. It was attempting to compel the Larsens to deliver a message they opposed. … Judge Stras understands this reality quite clearly. ‘Even antidiscrimination laws, as critically important as they are,’ he writes ‘must yield to the Constitution. And as compelling as the interest in preventing discriminatory conduct may be, speech is treated differently under the First Amendment.’ … We can expect that Minnesota will appeal to the Supreme Court, and if the Court accepts review it will be difficult to see SCOTUS reversing the court of appeals. The case that wedding videos represent protected speech is very strong, and once it’s deemed to be protected speech, the Court would have to contradict key prior precedents to overcome the Larsens’ rights of conscience and compel their speech as a condition of doing business. One should always be cautious when projecting case outcomes, but the Eighth Circuit has laid the judicial foundation for a ruling that should, ultimately, reaffirm the primacy of the Constitution in American law.”

(Friday Church News Notes, August 30, 2019, www.wayoflife.org [email protected], 866-295-4143) – The following is excerpted from James Agresti, “Poorest 20%,” The Stream, Aug. 27, 2019: “A groundbreaking study by Just Facts has discovered that after accounting for all income, charity, and non-cash welfare benefits like subsidized housing and Food Stamps–the poorest 20% of Americans consume more goods and services than the national averages for all people in most affluent countries. This includes the majority of countries in the prestigious Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), including its European members. In other words, if the U.S. ‘poor’ were a nation, it would be one of the world’s richest. Notably, this study was reviewed by Dr. Henrique Schneider, professor of economics at Nordakademie University in Germany and the chief economist of the Swiss Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. After examining the source data and Just Facts’ methodology, he concluded: ‘This study is sound and conforms with academic standards. I personally think it provides valuable insight into poverty measures and adds considerably to this field of research.’ [This refutes] a July 1st New York Times video op-ed that decries ‘fake news’ and calls for ‘a more truthful approach’ to ‘the myth of America as the greatest nation on earth,’ Times producers Taige Jensen and Nayeema Raza claim that the U.S. has ‘fallen well behind Europe’ in many respects and has ‘more in common with developing countries than we’d like to admit.’ … The high consumption of America’s ‘poor’ doesn’t mean they live better than average people in the nations they outpace, like Spain, Denmark, Japan, Greece, and New Zealand. This is because people’s quality of life also depends on their communities and personal choices, like the local politicians they elect, the violent crimes they commit, and the spending decisions they make. Nonetheless, the fact remains that the privilege of living in the U.S. affords poor people with more material resources than the averages for most of the world’s richest nations. … The Times closes its video by claiming that ‘America may once have been the greatest, but today America, we’re just okay.’ In reality, the U.S. is so economically exceptional that the poorest 20% of Americans are richer than many of the world’s most affluent nations. Last year, the Times adopted a new slogan, ‘The truth is worth it.’ Yet, in this case and others, it has twisted the truth in ways that can genuinely hurt people. The Times makes other spurious claims about the U.S. in this same video, which will be deflated in future articles.”

(Friday Church News Notes, August 30, 2019, www.wayoflife.org [email protected], 866-295-4143) – The cover story for the August 2019 issue of Christianity Today is “The Rise of the Bible-Teaching, Plato-Loving, Homeschool Elitists” by Louis Markos. It describes the growth of evangelical homeschooling curriculum that provide a classical education that aims to “raise up a generation of Christians who know the Bible and who live virtuous lives, and who are also firmly grounded in the pagan classics of ancient Greece and Rome, as well as the Roman Catholic classics of the Middle Ages.” An example is Mars Hill Academy, which “balances pagan (i.e., Homer, Aristotle) and medieval Christian (i.e., Dante, Chaucer) authors with major authors from the last 500 years of European and American literature (i.e., Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Faulkner).” The author claims the movement began in the 1940s with Dorothy Sayers, who was influenced by C.S. Lewis and “was a lover of all things classical and medieval.” Based on Sayer’s work, Douglas Wilson founded Logos School in 1981. The mention of C.S. Lewis is a loud warning to those who have ears. Christianity Today thinks it is a good thing that “increasing numbers of evangelicals” have “followed Lewis” to “fantasy lands populated by wizards” and “to the Catholic Middle Ages” and to the pagan “works of ancient Greek and Rome.” Christianity Today thinks it is a good thing that “Lewis helped unlock in the evangelical soul a longing for things of which they had been taught to be suspicious: tradition, hierarchy, liturgy, sacrament, numinous awe, and literature that was not specifically Christian.” We consider this, rather, to be evidence that C.S. Lewis was a dangerous man. To be familiar with pagan works can be helpful to the Christian life and ministry (in the sense of understanding world history, for example), if carefully examined through the lens of Scripture, but to sit at the feet of pagans and to search for light in their gross darkness is unscriptural foolishness. Christianity Today admits that “this tectonic shift in the evangelical world has led significant numbers of conservative Protestants to become Catholic, Orthodox, or Anglican–not only out of a longing for liturgy and sacrament but because the classics brought with them a re-encounter with the early church fathers.” But that’s OK, they say, because “they maintain much of their passion for the Bible” and “stand at the forefront of a new conservative ecumenism.” This is nonsense. To accept false sacramental gospels that damn souls to eternal hell is neither biblical nor “conservative.” Christianity Today has been leading God’s people astray since its founding by Billy Graham in 1956. “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper” (Psalm 1:1-3).

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — A federal appeals court that decides cases in the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware has sent back a lower court ruling that found a buffer zone outside of an abortion facility in New Jersey to be unconstitutional, stating that the court erred in its decision to grant summary judgment to those who are seeking to save the unborn from being killed.
“We conclude that the District Court erred in granting summary judgment because the ordinance was not overbroad,” wrote Judge Theodore McKee, a Clinton appointee, on behalf of a three-judge panel of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. “Courts may not strike down a regulation as ‘overbroad unless the overbreadth is substantial in relation to the [regulation’s] plainly legitimate sweep.'”
McKee was joined in the ruling by Judges Thomas Vanaskie, nominated to the bench by then-President Barack Obama, and Eugene Siler, nominated by then-President George H.W. Bush.
The case involves a law passed in 2014 that places an eight-foot buffer zone on the sidewalk adjacent to the entrance of Metropolitan Medical Associates in Englewood — a facility that, according to its website, offers abortions up to 24 weeks (six months) gestation. Violators are subject to fines and possibly jail time if they step within the prohibited area.
The Third Circuit wrote, based on claims made by the City, that the ordinance was necessary because of “militant activists and aggressive protestors” gathering outside of the abortion facility. It cited that an evangelical church, Bread of Life, “engaged in extremely aggressive, loud, intimidating, and harassing behavior towards patients” and “had ties to other radical anti-abortion organizations.”
Two members of Bread of Life told Christian News Network that they had no idea that the City had written about them in the lawsuit. They expressed concern that they were being “slandered,” stating that the characterization of their outreach activities is false and that they have no affiliation with the abortion opposition groups cited — even having disagreement with them.
The buffer zone was created on this basis, which Bread of Life says is unfounded.
In 2015, a Roman Catholic woman named Jeryl Turco who hands out literature and rosaries outside of Metropolitan Medical Associates challenged the buffer zone ordinance in court. She argued that the law is unfair in that abortion facility escorts may freely engage in free speech on the same portion of sidewalk that she and others are prevented from standing on, all the while blocking her view and drowning her out.
“These ‘escorts’ use various methods to prevent Plaintiff from having any possibility of engaging in a conversational discussion with individuals heading to or from the clinic, including placing themselves as a physical barrier between the individuals and Plaintiff, singing and shouting loudly to drown out the sound of anything Plaintiff says, and trying to persuade individuals to not accept Plaintiff’s literature and rosaries by saying things like ‘You don’t need that,’ ‘Don’t listen to her,’ or ‘She’s lying,'” the lawsuit reads.
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) outlined in court that Turco wasn’t engaged in any improper behavior. Attorney Francis Manion told Christian News Network on Wednesday that he is also doubtful that the alleged behavior attributed to Bread of Life is anything like what the City claims it is.
“We did continually throughout the case make the point that, if this stuff is happening, why haven’t you done anything about it? … Why don’t you enforce the law — [such behavior] is already against the law — if that’s really happening? … You don’t need to set up a buffer zone that excludes everybody from the sidewalk,” he stated. “And I think the implication is that it really isn’t as bad as the City is claiming.”
Manion further pondered whether the abortion facility escorts are technically in violation of the ordinance by standing within the buffer zone. He noted that the escorts are simply volunteers and not paid staff, and might not be considered to be agents of Metropolitan Medical Associates. However, if the facility indeed claims the escorts as corporate agents, then the business could be held be civilly liable should an escort-related matter be filed in a court of law.
Last year, U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton, nominated to the bench by then-President George W. Bush, granted Turco summary judgment in the case, finding the buffer zone statute to violate her First Amendment rights.
“Defendant bears the burden to show that alternative measures would fail to achieve its goal,” she wrote. “Defendant did not employ alternative, less restrictive means that were available. … Defendant did not prosecute any protesters for activities taking place on the sidewalk outside of the clinic in the five years prior to the adoption of the ordinance; and Defendant did not seek injunctive relief against individuals whose conduct was the impetus for the ordinance.”
“The right to freely assemble on the public street and sidewalks is also afforded maximum constitutional protection,” Wigenton continued. “Because this Court finds that the ordinance is not narrowly tailored, Plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment as to her freedom of assembly claim is granted.”
However, on Aug. 19, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Wigenton too quickly found the ordinance to be overbroad and that she should not have yet granted summary judgment as various claims seem to contradict each other.
“This record contains a multitude of contradicting factual assertions,” McKee wrote. “Some facts suggest that the buffer zones imposed a significant restraint on the plaintiff’s ability to engage in constitutionally-protected communication. Others support Englewood’s position that the buffer zones hardly affected plaintiff’s ability to reach her intended audience.”
“Some facts support plaintiff’s argument that the City had foregone less restrictive options to address the chaotic environment outside of the clinic,” the court continued. “Others show that Englewood considered these options and reasonably rejected them or found them to be ineffective.”
McKee said that because the facts are not settled, Wigenton needs to go back and revisit the matter to find conclusive evidence, stating that neither side is entitled to summary judgment as of yet.
Manion explained in a statement that “[t]he court did not rule that Englewood’s buffer zone was legal, only that the district court didn’t have enough evidence to declare it illegal — yet.”
Two other buffer zone cases, one from Pittsburgh and another from Harrisburg, are still pending before the Third Circuit. The U.S. Supreme Court has issued mixed rulings about buffer zones, at times upholding them and other times finding them to be too restrictive.
In 2014, the court unanimously ruled in the case of McCullen v. Coakley that the state of Massachusetts erred in passing a law placing 35-feet buffer zones around abortion facilities as it puts too great of a burden on citizens’ First Amendment rights.
“Petitioners wish to converse with their fellow citizens about an important subject on the public streets and sidewalks — sites that have hosted discussions about the issues of the day throughout history,” wrote Judge John Roberts. “Respondents assert undeniably significant interests in maintaining public safety on those same streets and sidewalks, as well as in preserving access to adjacent healthcare facilities.”
“But here, the Commonwealth has pursued those interests by the extreme step of closing a substantial portion of a traditional public forum to all speakers. It has done so without seriously addressing the problem through alternatives that leave the forum open for its time-honored purposes. The Commonwealth may not do that consistent with the First Amendment.”

Seattle Antifa Protestors
Leftist extremists have shown their contemptuousness of and open hostility toward the U.S. President, Donald Trump. They hate him for having the audacity to attempting to preserve our Nation as a Free Republic
New York – -(AmmoLand.com)- The ethical systems and political philosophies of individualists and collectivists are mutually exclusive and therefore cannot be reconciled with each other.
We see two different value systems of two distinct political and social philosophies, one reflecting the tenets of Individualism and the other reflecting the tenets of Collectivism. Each side frames the political, social, and ethical questions in mutually exclusive ways, as each side emphasizes different values, and, this, in turn, is reflected in the policy choices each side makes, as that side attempts to resolve what it perceives as distinct political, social, and ethical problems and dilemmas.

Given this indisputable fact, negotiation and compromise are impossible, as the vision each side embraces for this Country is absolutely at odds with each other.

Thus, we see each side taking completely different policy positions on every major issue: three of the salient, pressing ones, of late, being firearms, abortion, and immigration. But why is that? Why are there such profound differences on social and political issues–such profound differences that each side doesn't even ask the same questions, approaching the issues in such different veins that it is impossible for each side even to begin to understand the other side. It is as if each side is speaking a different language. And this being so, it stands to reason that resolution of political and social issues would reflect demonstrably distinct, antithetical policy choices that make reconciliation between the two sides impossible. It is for this reason that there can be no compromise, no negotiation between the two sides, as any attempt to do so, would be sterile, empty, as one side seeks to preserve the philosophical underpinnings upon which this Nation was created, the free Republic the founders placed their very lives on the line to create and to provide for future generations of Americans; and the other side seeks to rend and replace the Nation the founders created. The profound differences of the two sides being irreconcilable, and so profound, so resolute, and existing on such a basic, elemental level, that the conditions for the possibility of an actual modern civil war unfolding, are very real.* The Radical Leftists and Progressives seek nothing less than to replace our free Republic with no less than a Marxist styled dictatorship, a regime that is visibly at odds with the Nation as it presently exists, and they intend to follow through with their plans. Those individuals who wish to preserve our Nation as a free Republic, as the founders intended, the political Conservative, will never permit or abide by the uprooting of the philosophical underpinnings of our Nation as a free Republic, wherein the individual is autonomous and sovereign.
Leftist extremists have shown their contempt of, and open hostility toward, the U.S. President, Donald Trump. They hate him for having the audacity to attempting to preserve our Nation as a Free Republic. These same Marxist, Radical Leftists and Progressives have shown a no less contemptuous attitude and hostility toward the founders of our Nation, the framers of our Constitution.
The Radical Left and Progressives that have virtually taken control of the Democrats and of the Democratic Party, demonstrate open disrespect toward, and, in fact, deep loathing of, and perverse, monstrous abhorrence toward, the founders of our Nation, and have demonstrated their deep, abiding contempt of, and, in fact, open defiance toward, our Nation's Constitution, and toward our Nation's fundamental, natural rights and liberties, toward our Nation's long, glorious history and culture, and toward our Nation's institutions, the entirety of it. The Radical Leftists disrespect of our Country, and of its people, whom they bizarrely and erroneously divide into two disparate, armed camps of victims and overlords (victimizers), is not only extreme in the conception, but pathological in the use. In fact, the very notion that this Nation, a Nation of free citizens, is comprised of two broad classes of people, the oppressed and their oppressors is outright ludicrous, but it does serve their ignoble purpose.
The ruthless and reprehensible designers of disquiet and disruption in our Nation, the social engineers who desire to disrupt and corrupt the orderly operation of society, to weaken and confound the citizenry, have done so, so that they more easily control it. So that they can remold it, reshape it, and insert it anew into the Marxist vision of Hell on Earth they have conceived: a world of vast surveillance and control over the mass of populations; a world where the mass of humanity is reduced to servitude and penury and where those who object, those who dissent, those who demand freedom and liberty are brutally crushed into submission. This cannot be reasonably denied, as there exists mounting evidence to the contrary: the rebellious, disaffected extremists have taken over the Democratic Party. The current Democratic speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, hardly a proponent of the Bill of Rights, has been principally silent. She has lost her grip of the House.
Nancy PelosiNancy Pelosi
Whether afraid to wrest control from the mutinous Radical Left or otherwise through an attempt to retain a modicum of power through obsequious acquiescence to it, Pelosi herself, has become subservient to the frenzied call for an immediate transformation of the U.S. into a Marxist dictatorship. Those of the Left seek nothing less now than open revolt, audacious in the conception, frightening in scope; but hardly grandiose; simply disgusting, reprehensible, and absolutely insane.
These Radical Leftists, who had sought to reshape society quietly, through the social policies of Barack Obama, and which were to continue through the regime of Hillary Clinton, were dismayed to see the election of Donald Trump and to witness his Administration throwing a wrench into their incremental path to a Marxist world State. And Seeing that their master plan for a quiet progression of the U.S. toward Marxism was failing, possibly could fail, the Internationalist Billionaire architects of a One World Government went to work. Their plans for a one-world political, social, economic, and cultural system of governance would now have to be made plain, to be made obvious to the American people. And they set to work to destroy Trump's Presidency.
They have attempted to do so audaciously, and they continue to do audaciously, attacking and ridiculing the man himself, as well as attacking the President's policies for returning our Nation to its historical roots. And what they desired to do incrementally, they now seek to do quickly, through one major push, one massive frontal assault on the Nation and its Constitution and its people.
Whoever gains the nomination of the Democratic Party, and whoever it is that might gain the U.S. Presidency, no longer matters. There are no political Moderates left in that Party who have the Will, the Backing, and the fortitude to wrest control from the dominant Radical Left. Whomsoever in the Democratic Party it is that retakes the White House, will be taking his or her marching orders from the Billionaire Internationalists, and through their minions in the Party. And, as these supra-nationalist, one-world Government organizers have lost patience with a slow, incremental transformation of this Nation into a Collectivist one-world State, expecting, anticipating this Nation's slow but inexorable, assured fall into unceremonious ruin, only to be rebuilt, but only to be rebuilt as a cog of a world super-state, they now seek a rapid advance. Should a “Democrat,” any so-called Democrat, takes over the reins of the Executive Branch of Government, expect to see a rapid political, social, cultural, economic upheaval to occur, and as the new “President” will have the legitimacy of the Office of President, in which to mount the upheaval of this Nation internally, it will be difficult to prevent the metamorphosis of this Nation into a Marxist Hell. And, what will all this mean for the American people?
These Radical Leftists and Progressives desire to erase the very memory of our Nation as it is, and once was, and is ever to be. They seek to wipe the slate clean, to start over; to replace a free Republic and a free People with a thing that died long ago and that should have remained dead and buried long ago–the Marxist Collectivist Dystopian dream of a one-world, borderless, political-social-economic, construct, ruled by an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful Government. This is the Collectivist nightmare of a world devoid of nations, devoid of free citizens, devoid of hope, dreams, and reason; a world containing serfs, drones, and slaves, all controlled by a small cadre of ruthless overseers, intent on containing, constricting dissent, and bending entire populations to their will, the goal of which is to provide uniformity in thought and conduct, along with confounding, oppressive stasis.
*For a detailed account of the major political and social differences between Radical Leftists/Progressives, on the one hand, and Conservatives, on the other, the Arbalest Quarrel has pointed out the salient differences between the two sides, providing then the reason why compromise between the two is empirically impossible. One side ascribes to the basic tenets of Collectivism, an ideology upon which the social and political philosophy of the Radical Leftists and Progressives is predicated. The other side ascribes to the basic tenets of Individualism, an ideology upon which the social and political philosophy of the Conservatives is predicated, upon which our Nation was founded and upon which it presently exists. We invite interested readers to take a look at two Arbalest Quarrel articles on the subject, both of which were posted on AQ in October 2018: “In the Throes of the America's Modern Day Civil War,” and “The Modern American Civil War: A Clash of Ideologies.”

The superior general of the Jesuits, Father Arturo Sosa Abascal, has declared “that no country has the right to turn away migrants” because in his view, “the goods of the land are for everyone.” Sosa also claims that “migrants come to make a contribution, which is greater than what they receive from the host country”; never mind the advancement of Islamization, and Germany’s admission that 75% of its migrants face long-term unemployment and life on benefits, and the fact that in Switzerland over 80% of Somali migrants are on welfare.
Sosa knows nothing, or pretends to know nothing, about the Islamic doctrine to conquer the House of War, which is harmful to the Christian faith which he professes to serve, as well as to every aspect of a free society. He is living in the past, in an age when most Western countries once operated on a point system to ensure that immigration was beneficial to the host country. Under such a system, migrants who offered no benefit to a country or who may have been discovered to have a dangerous background or a harmful communicable disease were sometimes turned away. In Sosa’s view, no one should be refused, and all borders should be eradicated.
Sosa is, not surprisingly, a loyal follower of the Pope of Islam — who has incessantly advocated for open-door policies and mass migration. Sosa also believes in that there is a “plan that originated in the United States to force Pope Francis to resign” and “bring in a new one who will discontinuedeepening the path that Francis has indicated and undertaken.”
In Sosa’s flawed reasoning that the land belongs to “everyone,” that “everyone” would include Islamic State fighters who have infiltrated the refugee stream, as well as jihadis from Boko Haram, al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and drug lords and the like.
What makes Sosa so dangerous as a Catholic Church leader is that there are many who trust him and follow in his footsteps. He is a blind guide who has chosen to ignore the realities of modern-day migration problems in the West. Unfortunately, this unfit leader has forgotten the victims of jihad and Islamic supremacy.
“Jesuit Chief: No Country Has the Right to Turn Away Migrants,” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, August 24, 2019:
The superior general of the Jesuits declared this week that no country has the right to turn away migrants, claiming the land belongs to everyone.
“The challenge for a country that receives migrants is not only reception, but integration, which means receiving the contribution that immigrants bring,” said Jesuit Father Arturo Sosa Abascal in an interview with Tempi.it.
“They come to make a contribution, which is greater than what they receive from the host country,” he claimed, seemingly without evidence.
“Italians must remember their own experience,” he continued.
“They came to Latin America, including my country of Venezuela, and they were welcomed; they became part of society in the same way as everyone else, and today they are not considered ‘different’,” he said, drawing a somewhat dubious comparison between the largely legal migration of Italians to South America and Europe’s largely unregulated migrant crisis.
“In Europe we must recognize the contribution that migrants make to the societies that receive them and thank them for it,” the Jesuit added.
Then, in one of his more controversial claims, Father Sosa said that nations have no right to enforce their borders because in the end, the land belongs to everyone.
“Those who live in a given territory have no right to turn away migrants,” he said, “because they have no absolute right to that territory. They do not own it; the goods of the land are for everyone.”….

The Uncle of an Italian girl who was raped and murdered by a Nigerian migrant has threatened to show photos of her dismembered body to the Italian parliament if the country’s new government repeals Matteo Salvini’s strict immigration laws.
Following the collapse of Italy’s coalition government, led by populist firebrand Salvini, the 5 star movement is set to form a new coalition with the left of center Partito Democratico (PD).
This prospect led the Uncle of 18-year-old Pamela Mastropietro, who was raped, murdered and dismembered by a Nigerian “cannibal mafia” in the Italian town of Macerata, to threaten to display photos of his niece’s remains to the public.
Marco Valerio Verni has threatened to display blown-up images of the victim, which left her unrecognizable, “To remind those in power of the catastrophic effects of illegal immigration.”
The original hearing into Mastropietro’s murder was held behind closed doors because of the extremely gruesome nature of the photos, but now Verni is vowing to go public with the images if Italy’s new government once again approves the arrival of migrant boats arriving at Italian ports.
“Every day we are bombarded with tearful images of barges loaded with migrants that the Left would like to receive without worrying about the consequences. The same Left that remained silent when Pamela was raped and murdered with unspeakable ferocity,” said Verni.
Innocent Oseghale, Pamela’s murderer, arrived in Italia via a migrant boat. He is currently serving a term of life imprisonment.

Speaking to some reporters on Tuesday, former Vice President Joe Biden, now a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president, said, “White folks are the reason we have institutional racism. There has always been racism in America. White supremacists have always existed, they still exist.”

And, in a Biden administration, this would “not be tolerated.”
Biden is the front-runner for the Democratic nomination, largely because of black voters, and apparently wants to double-down on this appeal to increase his chances of actually capturing the Democratic nomination, and to drive turnout among the African-American community in the 2020 general election against President Donald Trump. Biden was actually quite blunt about his motivation, telling reporters that increasing the voter turnout among both blacks and Hispanics will be the “overwhelming focus” of his campaign strategy.
One of the reasons that 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton lost Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania to Donald Trump — all states won by President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 — was that she failed to generate much enthusiasm in the African-American community, and turnout was down from the previous two presidential campaigns. Biden intends to do what he can to do much better among black Democrats than did Clinton.
Because of this race-based strategy, Biden promised to advertise in black publications, campaign in black churches, in black fraternities and sororities, and at historically black colleges.
It is Trump that Biden blames for rising racial tensions in the country over the past few years, claiming that Trump’s words have stoked the racial divide. According to Biden, Trump’s rhetoric has an “appeal to the worst damn instincts of human nature.”
In contrast to Trump, Biden said, “I’ve never, ever, ever in my entire life been in a circumstance where I’ve felt uncomfortable being in the black community.” Biden added that many make “assertions and assumptions” about black voters that are not accurate, because “a lot of people haven’t spent much time in the [black] community.”
This support that Biden has enjoyed among black voters is assumed to be the reason that Senator Kamala Harris — the California Democrat who is one of Biden’s competitors for the Democratic nod — launched an assault upon Biden during the first presidential debate over his decades-old opposition to school busing. Harris, who is black, evidently believed that Biden’s opposition to school busing, ordered by federal judges to forcibly integrate public schools, would enable her to take some of those black voters away from Biden.
During the debate, Harris coupled her attack on Biden over busing with, “I know you’re not a racist, Joe,” which, of course, was an attempt to plant the idea in the minds of voters that Biden actually was a racist, or at least was not the champion of black voters that he is portraying himself to be.
The Trump presidential campaign shot back at Biden. Tim Murtaugh, the Trump campaign communications director, dismissed Biden’s charges that Trump uses racist rhetoric as politically motivated. “Having moved on from the Russia Hoax, Democrats are now employing the oldest play in the Democrat playbook: falsely accusing their opponents of racism, extending it even to the president’s supporters. Calling half the country racist is not a winning strategy.”
It is certainly not a healthy move for the country. It is widely believed that race relations were at their best in American history when Obama won the White House in 2008 — after all, the election of a black man to the presidency would have been unthinkable only a few short years earlier. Many hoped, even those who disagreed strongly with Obama’s political philosophy, that his election marked a moment of healing for the country.
But, once in office, Obama and Biden continued to use the “race card” in a callous effort to make sure that the percentage of black voter turnout — the highest in history in 2008 — would not fall off. During his time in office, Obama made public comments about an altercation in Florida between a “white Hispanic” man and a black teenager (Trayvon Martin), in which the teen was killed. “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” Obama opined, clearly exacerbating racial feelings in the incident. There were other incidents in which it became clear that Obama and Biden were determined to throw gasoline on the fire, all for political advantage.
Because of this, we have seen a definite decline in healthy racial relations over the past decade. Accusations of racism are routinely thrown at political opponents, with little regard as to the negative consequences for race relations.
Now it appears that Biden is prepared to continue this campaign strategy of inciting hatred by one ethnic group against another. While it might be unhealthy for the country, he evidently believes it might win him the White House.

When William Dudley, a bona-fide insider and tool of the Deep State, wrote that the Federal Reserve should work against the president’s agenda, even if it cost him next year’s election, the reaction came from all quarters: The Fed’s political bias has finally and permanently been exposed for all to see.
Dudley’s credentials are impeccably Deep State: He is a graduate of UC-Berkeley who worked for Goldmann Sachs for more than 20 years, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the Committee on the Global Financial System, and serves as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and vice-chairman of the Fed’s Open Market Committee.
Thanks to Dudley’s forthright op-ed at Bloomberg on Tuesday, that the veil has been lifted, and many insiders aren’t happy about it. It seems that he has unwittingly exposed the pervasive and carefully crafted myth that the Fed is “objective,” “unbiased,” “neutral,” and removed from all political considerations in conducting its policies. Those policies have been sold as guiding the U.S. economy on paths of low inflation (even as the bank itself is the engine of inflation) and full employment, and nothing more.
Dudley gave lip service to the myth before exploding it: “Staying above the political fray helps the central bank maintain its independence.” But then comes the bombshell: “[Fed] officials should state explicitly that the central bank won’t bail out an administration that keeps making bad choices on trade policy, making it abundantly clear that Trump will own the consequences of his actions.”
Dudley explains just how the Fed could derail the president’s strategy in dealing with the communists running China:
First, it would discourage further escalation of the trade way, by increasing costs to the Trump Administration.
Second, it would reassert the Fed’s independence by distancing itself from the administration’s policies.
Third, it would conserve much-needed ammunition [lower interest rates in the future to restimulate an economy in recession], allowing the Fed to avoid further interest-rate cuts at a time when rates are already very low.
It’s clear from Dudley’s op-ed that he’s miffed that the president had the audacity to criticize repeatedly the actions of the Fed. Other presidents have studiously avoided any public appearance of pressuring the Fed, but not The Donald. Wrote Dudley:
I understand and support Fed officials’ desire to remain apolitical. But Trump’s ongoing attacks on [Fed Chair Jerome] Powell and on the institution have made that untenable….
There’s … an argument that the election itself falls within the Fed’s purview. After all, Trump’s reelection arguably presents a threat to the U.S. and [the] global economy.
Let’s parse that “threat … to the global economy.” This is the global economy run by globalists for which Dudley and his establishment peers have been laboring for decades. Trump is a threat to that global economy by declaring America’s independence and sovereignty, and as a result must be removed from office. Dudley’s tool of choice is interest rates — keeping them high in a world of lower and lower interest rates in the hopes that it will stall the U.S. economy and weaken Trump’s hand in dealing with China.
Lest this sound like a “conspiracy theory,” it’s helpful to note that Jordan Weissmann, writing for the far-left Slate magazine, sees what few have been willing to see or articulate until now. Wrote Weissmann:
What elevates [Dudley’s] piece to truly epic heights of irresponsibility is that, until last year, Dudley served as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, widely viewed as the Fed’s second most powerful position.
He is an insider’s insider, and if ever a single piece of writing could fuel conspiracy theories that a cabal of central bankers is out to sabotage Trump’s presidency, this one is it.
Weissmann continued:
This is a very bad scheme that, in the end, would almost certainly undermine the Federal Reserve’s low legitimacy. But it gets worse. Dudley basically says the Fed should try to throw the 2020 election….
It is hard to overstate what a tremendously dangerous concept this is. Dudley is not talking about a conflict between two equal branches of government. If the economy crashes and Democrats don’t want to pass a stimulus because it might help Trump, that would be crappy and inhumane, but it’d also fundamentally be politics. Voters could decide who to hold accountable.
Here, Dudley is effectively talking about an economic coup staged by a group of unelected technocrats.
So it’s a “two-fer”: Dudley’s op-ed is a two-pronged destruction of a pervasive myth that has hidden the Fed’s agenda for decades, and the exposure of the deadly work of Deep State officials to bring the U.S. into a global economic and political system run by them.
For its part, the Fed has had precious little to say except that politics plays no role in their decision-making. Michelle Smith, a Fed spokeswoman, declared: “The Federal Reserve’s policy decisions are guided solely by its congressional mandate to maintain price stability and maximum employment. Political considerations play absolutely no role.”
Absolutely false! As The New American has noted,
In December 1965, Federal Reserve Chairman William McChesney Martin was summoned to the ranch of President Lyndon Johnson for a dressing-down. President Johnson, a believer in the fiscal stimulus programs enacted by his predecessor, John F. Kennedy, wanted to cut taxes further, and expected the Fed to do its part by keeping interest rates low. Martin, however, was of the opinion that interest rates should be raised, arousing the ire of the volatile president.
Ushered into what he expected would be a calm meeting with the president, Martin was shocked to find himself being physically shoved around the living room and against the wall by a furious Lyndon Johnson, who kept screaming at him, “Boys are dying in Vietnam, and Bill Martin doesn’t care!” President Johnson had apparently never gotten the memo on the supposed independence of the Federal Reserve from political influences. Cowed by the president’s belligerence, the Fed chairman maintained interest rates very low that year and the next, putting the lie to the Fed’s alleged detachment from tawdry politics.
Or consider the Fed’s blatantly political move late in 2018 to slow the economy deliberately by raising interest rates for the fifth time, declaring it was a “pre-emptive strike” against incipient inflation. The inflation rate (rate of price increases in the private economy) remained docile, but Wall Street investors saw their account balances drop by nearly 20 percent in the selloff that followed.
Ryan Cooper, writing for the liberal The Week magazine, told his readers what Dudley’s op-ed showed: “It’s a perfect demonstration of what is already obvious: America’s central bank, the Federal Reserve, is a highly political institution — its heavily rich-friendly politics are just usually obscured behind a technocratic façade.”
Thanks to Dudley’s op-ed, that façade has been ripped away, revealing the men behind the curtain who, until now, have wanted the rest of us to ignore their machinations.

MI SCHOOL DISTRICT Holds Taxpayer-Funded, 2-Day, Mandatory Islamic Training For Public School Teachers

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research purposes:
The Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national nonprofit public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has uncovered evidence of a well-orchestrated Islamic propaganda campaign aimed at teachers in school systems throughout Michigan and several other states.

Concerned about a two-day mandatory teacher-training seminar on Islam conducted by a Muslim consultant hired by Michigan’s Novi Community Schools District, TMLC filed a Freedom of Information Act request for documents related to the workshop.
Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel of the Law Center, commented on the results of their investigation, “We found that the teachers were subjected to two days of Islamic propaganda, where Islam was glorified, Christianity disparaged, and America bashed—all funded by Novi taxpayers.”
Moreover, during the past five years the school district has presented no teacher-training seminars focusing on Christianity, Judaism or any other religion – only Islam.

Huda Essa Facebook photo.

The hired Muslim consultant was Huda Essa, a resident of the Dearborn area and of Arab descent. She appeared before the Novi teachers in a hijab, the Muslim headscarf, billing herself as an expert in “cultural competency” and “culturally responsive teaching.”

Most disappointing was the fact that of the more than 400 teachers attending the workshop, not one teacher challenged Essa’s denigration of Christianity or attacks on America.
A quick glance at Huda Hessa’s Facebook page, might lead one to believe that she’s working toward a goal of inclusiveness for all students, but upon closer inspection, it appears that her goal is to convince teachers to incorporate far-left social justice teachings in the classroom. At the top of her page, Hessa posts a link to “21 Free Resources for Teaching Social Justice in the Classroom”
that includes links to the radical, anti-Trump, anti-conservative, Southern Poverty Law Center.
With no federal standards for the topic in place, teachers are left to their own devices for creating or finding social justice lesson plans. Our country’s history is rich with resistance, organizing, and civil rights campaigning—but for many teachers, these movements seem new.
If you want to guide your students through conversations about inclusion, diversity, and equity, it’s important to both teach the history and build upon the work of the countless people who contributed to social justice movements throughout the years.
From habeus corpus for Native Americans, to women’s suffrage, to civil rights, none of these freedoms were granted without collective organizing. Unfortunately, many of these stories are invisible. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
In one of her posts of Facebook, Hessa talks about why a “melting pot,” is a dangerous concept in America, and how foreigners should maintain the identities and cultures of their homeland (Sharia law?), and other should learn (convert?) from the customs and cultures of foreign immigrants.
On June 10, Hessa wrote: Serving as the Keynote Speaker to kick off the Orange County Public Schools Summer Academy Conference in Florida was an invigorating experience. I met so many professionals committed to creating a greater future through diversity, equity and inclusion. Our topic was focused on the dangers of the “melting pot”. Too many of us have lost so many of our identities due to this common notion. Instead, we should be a healthy, colorful salad where we reap the benefits of our differences. This allows us to take advantage of what makes this nation so great… a diversity of languages, cultures, histories and perspectives that leads to increased potential, innovation and overall success. ❤️🌎 #socialjustice
TMLC inspected dozens of internal school documents, including audio recordings of Essa’s presentation.
The information on Islam she provided to Novi teachers was riddled with falsehoods and errors of omission that were clearly meant to deceive.
Essa provided no truthful information on Sharia law and jihad, two of the most important aspects of Islam. All references to terrorism were dismissed as having nothing to do with Islam. White Christian males, she suggested, are more dangerous than Islamic radicals.
Essa is the face behind Culture Links LLC, a Michigan-based consultancy. She describes herself on the Culture Links website as an advocate of social justice who encourages children to “take pride in their many identities.”
But, as TMLC discovered from the Novi documents, the one identity Essa does not celebrate is that of patriotic Americans who believe in our nation’s exceptionalism.
And her message extends far beyond Novi.
Essa’s client list reveals she has been spreading her “trash America first” philosophy to colleges, universities, schools and professional educator associations throughout Michigan, California, Georgia, Texas, Florida and beyond. In Michigan alone her website lists nine school districts as clients – Oakland County Schools, Ann Arbor Schools, L’Anse Creuse Public Schools, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, Roseville Community Schools, Farmington Public Schools, Dearborn Public Schools, Birmingham Public Schools and Melvindale Public Schools.
Under the banner of promoting diversity, inclusion and a multicultural approach to education, Essa sets about comparing Islam to Christianity, calling them “mostly similar.” The one big difference, she claims, is that Islam is the world’s “only purely monotheistic religion.”
Islam’s holy book, the Koran, came straight from Allah to the prophet Muhammad and, unlike the Jewish and Christian scriptures, has never been altered or changed, she told the Novi teachers. Significantly, the Koran commands Muslims to “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.” (Koran 9:5)
Her message was clear: The Koran is superior to the Bible. But she did not address the fact that it calls for the extermination of Christian and Jews.
While quick to indict America as guilty of “cultural genocide,” Essa was silent on the 1400 years of actual genocides, also known as jihads, in which Muslims wiped out Jewish tribes on the Arabian Peninsula, and slaughtered millions of Christians throughout the Middle East, North Africa and the European Continent. Referring to Islam, Winston Churchill wrote, “No stronger retrograde force exists in the world.”
Novi’s Islamic teacher-training is just the latest example of professional Islamic indoctrinators infiltrating U.S. public schools even as Christianity has been forced out of the classroom.
“This type of infiltration amounts to an Islamic Trojan horse within our public-school systems,”Thompson said. “No other religion gets this kind of special treatment in our schools.”
Only action by patriotic American parents will put a stop to the indoctrination of teachers and students. They must attend school board meetings and call their board’s attention to the existence of unconstitutional Islamic propaganda whenever they find evidence of it in their children’s schools. And when their board is unresponsive, they must be willing to take legal action to stop it whenever the law permits.
TMLC has several active cases involving public schools bending over backwards to promote Islam while trashing Christianity.
In New Jersey, seventh-grade students at Chatham Middle School were taught “Islam is the true faith,” required to learn the Shahada, or Muslim creed, and forced to watch videos that sought to convert them.
TMLC is representing another student at La Plata High School in Maryland, where pupils in world-history classes were taught that “Most Muslims’ faith is stronger than the average Christian” and “Islam at heart is a peaceful religion.”
Jihad, meanwhile, was introduced to La Plata students as a “personal” spiritual struggle, having nothing to do with using violence to spread the faith. And, like in New Jersey, the Maryland students were forced to learn the Five Pillars of Islam and memorize the Shahada.
Essa spent a great deal of time in her Novi presentation talking about Muslim women, whom she described as victims of Islamophobia on the part of bigoted Americans.

She said her own mother’s decision to wear the hijab was met with “rage” from random Americans. Other hijab-wearing Muslim women have been spat upon, had hot liquids poured on them, been beaten and even killed because they wear the hijab, Essa said, without giving details of when or where these atrocities supposedly occurred.
Essa presented no statistics on hate crimes to back up her claims. FBI crime stats show that anti-Muslim attacks are relatively rare in America and actually fell by 17 percent in 2017. Anti-Jewish hate crimes that year out-numbered anti-Muslim offenses by nearly four to one.
Globally, Christians are the most persecuted of all religious groups, according to the watchdog Open Doors. Of the top-ten most dangerous countries to be a Christian, all but two of them are Muslim-majority nations, according to Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List.
But Essa’s attempts to con Novi teachers into accepting her anti-American, pro-Islamic worldview didn’t stop with the idea that Muslims are the most persecuted and victimized people.
She said any poor treatment of women in Islamic countries should be attributed to “cultural” differences, not the religion of Islam.
She failed to mention that Muhammad, Islam’s prophet, is reported to have said that the majority of hell would be populated by women (hadith by Sahih Bukhari Vol. 1:28, 301, Vol. 2:161, Vol. 7:124-126). Also absent from her presentation was the Koranic instruction for husbands to beat a disobedient wife (Sura 4:34).
Exercising the art of deception, Essa said Muslims love Jesus and refer to him as “messiah.”
But the word “messiah” has a different meaning for Muslims than for Christians. When Christians speak of Jesus their Messiah, they are referring to God’s “anointed One,” who has the power to forgive sin and grant salvation.
Muslims confer no such divine authority to their Jesus. Under Islam Jesus was only a man, a lower prophet under Muhammad, not the Son of God, and he did not die on a cross or rise from the dead as documented in the gospels.
Essa hammered Novi teachers with the Islamic teaching that the Jewish and Christian scriptures are not to be trusted. Although once pure, they were gradually “corrupted” by unscrupulous men. Only the Koran contains the final, “pure” words of God, she said.
Essa also schooled teachers in the proper use of the phrase “Allahu Akbar!” or “Allah is greatest!” While this is widely known as battle-cry of Muslim terrorists, Essa said it’s really just a refrain that Muslims use to convey feelings of happiness, sadness, anger, or thankfulness while praising Allah.
Essa said the word “Islam” is an offshoot of the Arabic term “Salaam,” which means peace. This is a common ploy used by Muslim apologists to deceive uninformed Westerners.
“Islam” is more accurately translated as “submission” and good Muslims know they must submit to Allah and his Sharia (Islamic law), above all other systems of law.
Essa noted Islam is the world’s fastest-growing religion without mentioning that Muslims are forbidden from leaving the faith. Considered apostates, those leaving the faith are subject to severe punishment, up to and including death. And forced conversions have been a well-documented fact of history.
Here are some other facts uncovered by TMLC’s Freedom of Information Act requests:
•     Novi school district has no guidelines for the selection of presenters for teacher-training events.
•    The school district did not fully vet Huda Essa before selecting her as a presenter and providing her with data about the school district and its students.
•     Essa was given access to data from student and teacher surveys.
•    The school district said it had no records that would indicate it ever conducted a factual analysis of Essa’s presentation.
•     The school district signed a contract on August 2, 2017, agreeing to pay Essa $5,000 for her two-day seminar on August 28 and 29, 2017.

A Freedom of Information Act request filed by the Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan revealed deeply concerning information on a mandatory two-day teacher training session on Islam conducted for public school teachers in the state which denigrated Christianity while presenting Islam in an exclusively positive light.

“We found that the teachers were subjected to two days of Islamic propaganda, where Islam was glorified, Christianity disparaged, and America bashed—all funded by Novi taxpayers,” explained Richard Thompson, president and chief counsel at the Thomas More Law Center. He noted that the school district had not sponsored teacher trainings on Christianity, Judaism, or other religions over the past five years, but solely on Islam.

The “cultural competency” expert hired by the Novi Community Schools District in Michigan is Huda Essa of Culture Links LLC, a hijab-wearing woman of Arab descent. After examining numerous documents relating to Essa’s presentation including audio transcripts from her talk, the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) found that “information on Islam she provided to Novi teachers was riddled with falsehoods and errors of omission that were clearly meant to deceive.”

During the two-day training session, Essa “spent a great deal of time in her Novi presentation talking about Muslim women, whom she described as victims of Islamophobia on the part of bigoted Americans,” explains a press release from the TMLC. She described cases where hijab-wearing Muslim women have been attacked or killed for their religious dress but provided no details on when or where these attacks occurred. As the Thomas More Law Center pointed out in its release, “anti-Muslim attacks are relatively rare in America and actually fell by 17 percent in 2017” while “Anti-Jewish hate crimes that year out-numbered anti-Muslim offenses by nearly four to one.”

Essa also claimed that mistreatment of women in Islamic countries is due only to “cultural” differences, and not to the Islamic religion itself, which in fact dictates radically different rules for men and women.

Her presentation repeatedly portrayed Christianity in a negative light, claiming that the Christian scriptures were “corrupted” over time whereas the Koran contains the true and “pure” word of God. Claiming that Christianity and Islam are “mostly similar,” she also asserted that Islam is in fact the world’s “only purely monotheistic religion.”
Teachers attending the training session were taught to believe in a whitewashed version of Islam. Essa told those in attendance that the word “Islam” is a variation on the Arabic word “salaam” which means peace. As the TMLC points out, Islam is more accurately translated as “submission,” since Muslims must submit to Allah and Sharia law before all other authorities. She also described the phrase “Allahu Abkar” as a refrain used to convey strong emotions; she did not mention that this same phrase is used as a battle-cry by Islamic terrorists conducting attacks.
The problematic presentation on Islam was not limited to one Michigan school district. Essa’s website lists nine separate school districts in Michigan as clients and also public schools, colleges and professional organizations in numerous other states including California, Texas, Georgia, and Florida. For the two-day presentation for the Novi Community Schools District, Essa’s organization was paid $5,000. The Freedom of Information Act requests filed by the TMLC further revealed that the district did not fully vet Essa before allowing her to conduct the mandatory training, nor did they conduct a factual analysis of her claims. In spite of the school district’s limited screening process, Essa was given access to data from student and faculty surveys.

“This type of infiltration amounts to an Islamic Trojan horse within our public-school systems,” Thompson of the Thomas More Law Center said. “No other religion gets this kind of special treatment in our schools.”

Oran Canfield: My childhood in freefall

republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research purposes:
Musician Oran Canflield's early memories are of growing up in a punk rock
commune, juggling in a travelling circus and hating his father, a famous self-help
'guru'. His parents don't remember it in quite the same way.
Oran Canfield writes that his birth in 1974 was presided over by 10 Buddhist monks who chanted throughout the 72-hour delivery. His parents, Timothy Leary-types who ran a holistic health centre in Massachusetts, dined on the placenta. For the first year of his life, as Canfield describes in Freefall, his memoir of growing up in a dysfunctional family, he was cared for by "a community of weird therapists, early self-help freaks and drug-experimenting hippies".
It set the pattern for the rest of his childhood, which was lived in the shadow of two parents more devoted, as Canfield tells it, to the human potential movement than to their children or each other. Their two boys, Oran and Kyle, were sent to live in a succession of progressive boarding schools, libertarian communes and even a travelling circus run by Wavy Gravy, the Grateful Dead's "official clown", famous for his tie-dyed false teeth; aged 14, Canfield took his first acid trip with Jerry Garcia's daughter.
Canfield's humorous chronicle of his countercultural upbringing is intercut with the story of his struggle with heroin addiction, which saw him confined to various rehabs for much of his 20s (he has been clean for eight years). I meet Canfield, now 35, in a cafe in Williamsburg, the hip section of Brooklyn to which he moved from San Francisco several years ago. He arrives, hunched over against the cold, looking world-weary. With pensive brown eyes, a furrowed brow and circumflex eyebrows, he reminds me of one of the anxious-looking clowns painted by Jean Dubuffet.
In conversation he is spiky and funny and at ease with his past. His memoir, for all its cynicism and bitterness, is devoid of self-pity; it is a black comedy influenced, he says, by David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs, two writers who have also wittily documented their crazy childhoods and, in Burroughs' case, a journey to sobriety.
The book, perhaps predictably, upset his family, who remember things rather differently. His mother goes as far as describing it as "fiction". But Canfield says that writing it was "more cathartic than anything else I've done – much of the victimisation and blame that I felt throughout my life went away. A lot of the drug stuff I'd already processed and got through, but the childhood stuff was really hard to write – I'd never looked at it that closely."
He has just returned from a tour with Child Abuse, the noise band in which he plays the drums, and when I ask him if he considers himself to have been an abused child, he says, "I think that maybe I would have said yes to that before writing this book."
Canfield's father is Jack Canfield, the bestselling author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of self-help books and a motivational speaker who styles himself "America's No 1 Success Coach". In 1998, seven of Canfield Sr's titles were on the New York Times bestseller list simultaneously, earning him a place in the Guinness Book of Records. "At the time," Canfield says, laughing, "there was a great contradiction between how he told other people to live their lives and how he interacted with his family."
Canfield was only one when his father left his pregnant mother for a masseuse, and he only saw him every few years after that. He demonises his father as a "lying, cheating, conniving, manipulative, inhuman son of a bitch". Canfield has read only a few pages of the first volume of Chicken Soup, which was dedicated to him, and says he was disgusted by the vacuous platitudes of its inspirational anecdotes. The working title of his memoir was Give Me Some Bread with that Chicken Soup; he describes it jokingly as Chicken Soup for the Misanthropic Soul.
After Jack left, Canfield says his mother took her two babies on the road in a camper van and spent the next two years in Central America waging a one-woman crusade against Nestlé baby formula. She returned to the US to set up a practice as a Gestalt therapist in Philadelphia, and at night would take her two small boys to watch her play jam sessions at a local bar. "My mum is a strong, intense woman who has always tried to expose Kyle and me to all the wild variation that America has to offer," Canfield says, taking a sip of coffee. "She's wilful and controlling, which is bad if you're her kids, but all my friends loved her."
She was the kind of mother who, when she found out her son had eaten a burger, made the manager at the local McDonald's pin up a picture of him and promise never to serve him again.
Struggling on her own, she sent the boys to a progressive community school in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which consisted of a couple of trailers on a dirt lot. Lessons were voluntary and the seven-year-old Oran and his younger brother spent most days honing their trampolining skills, while the older pupils taught them how to steal golf carts and throw stones at cars. When they got into trouble with the police for smashing the windscreen of one passing vehicle, Canfield was sent to live with Fred, a former clown at Wavy Gravy's circus, where they spent the summers. Fred was now a born-again Christian and spoke in tongues. Canfield was expelled from the fundamentalist school to which Fred sent him, when it was discovered just before he was due to be beaten, that his mother had refused to sign the corporal punishment waiver – she had written "Do Not Hit My Son" in a cursive hand where the signature was supposed to be.
"Believe it or not," Canfield tells me, "I never felt abandoned by my mum. We got dropped off and lived with different people, but she was 110% involved, all the time … with every detail. Even if we spent a year without her, we still couldn't eat sugar or watch TV, eat dairy or meat – everything was planned out."
Some children dream of running away to the circus, but Oran's mother, who had always encouraged his juggling (in 1986 he came third at the International Juggling Convention), signed him up to one. Canfield moved into the Farm in San Francisco's Mission district, which he describes as "part circus rehearsal space, part punk-rock club, part apartment complex, part animal farm, part community garden, part preschool, and part anything else that could bring in a few extra bucks". He juggled five clubs atop a human pyramid, rode a 6ft-tall unicycle, was immersed in punk rock, and played a small part in a political commentary on the Reagan administration as told through the circus arts. The organisers got tired of having to talk to his mother by phone every day, with her constant demands, and he wasn't invited to join the circus on tour. But his time there, he says, was the happiest period of his life.
It was in his attempt to recreate it that he first became involved in drugs. He was a 23-year-old art-school dropout living in San Francisco, working as a piano restorer, drumming in a band called Optimist International, and trying to found a Farm-like events space in the converted storefront in which he and his friends were squatting. A Stanford University professor staged a performance piece there called Composition for Mood Swings that involved inviting an audience into the damp cellar, where a small pharmacy of illegal drugs was laid out on a table under a 120w bulb, and inviting them to choose their poison. Canfield chose heroin. He was soon a secret user, lying to and stealing from his friends, and funding his habit by selling the recording studio equipment that his father had given him a $10,000 loan to buy so that he could set up a business. "My mind wasn't involved," he explains of his addiction. "It's like muscle memory. These environmental cues happen and your body just goes and does what it needs to do." Heroin fuelled his self-loathing but it was also the only thing that seemed to soothe it. After eight years of AA, he now wonders whether he might have been more addicted to self-loathing than he was to heroin.
Ironically, it was drugs that brought his family back together. One day he fell out of his top bunk, knocked himself unconscious and came around three days later to find his parents, brother and 20 friends crammed into his hospital room ready to stage an intervention. His family drove him to a rehab facility, the first time that they had all been in a car together since a childhood trip to Disneyland. They dropped him at the clinic, locked the car doors and drove off as he chased them. "It was the worst day of my life up until that point," he says. Even though he had no money with him, he made it home by hiding in a train toilet and got high again, but he eventually agreed to seek help. He spent the next few years in and out of rehab clinics, none of which seemed to help him.
One of the difficulties was that the doctors all seemed to speak his father's language of self-help, which was anathema to him. "In a lot of ways it didn't seem like I had a chance because of that," he acknowledges. "It was very hard for me to get past all my criticism of that whole scene … even if it meant my life." At 16, Canfield had been invited to assist his father in one of his self-esteem seminars, during which he and the audience were given foam baseball bats and instructed to vent their rage. "I hate you, Jack. I hate you, Jack," Canfield shouted. He ridiculed his father's happy-clappy pop psychology, accusing him of being "essentially a drug dealer peddling temporary relief from a permanent problem". But, in the end, it was his father to whom he turned. He made the journey to his mansion and begged for help. In a phone conversation, Jack Canfield tells me how painful it was to see his son after he had been speed balling for weeks at a time. "He was in his late 20s," he says, sighing, "and he looked like he was 83 years old".
After two more spells in rehab, he made a last-ditch attempt to get clean, signing up to an expensive experimental treatment with ibogaine, a psychedelic that is still illegal in the US (he was test subject no 121). He travelled to the Bahamas to submit himself to the powerful mind-altering nightmares the drug induces. "It was horrible," he says, "but I came away from it realising that I'd been living the bad acid trip for the past four years". Ibogaine induces a huge serotonin boost, which numbs the addict's usual painful experience of withdrawal and, though he did relapse, Canfield says, "The drugs weren't doing what they were supposed to do. I was done." His father says he is proud of his son for staying clean: "The cure rate is only about 15-20% at best, so Oran beat the odds."
Canfield tells me that his relationship with his father "actually kind of started as a result of writing the book – he was overwhelmingly supportive, weirdly so". When I speak to Jack Canfield, he admits that he was hurt when he read the "sarcasm and cynicism" directed at him and his work, but that he could empathise with his son's point of view: "I was teaching things about love and relationships and going for your dreams and yet he wasn't that included in my life at that point."
To deal with the emotions that the book opened up, Jack Canfield says, the entire family have gone on a series of therapeutic family retreats. "All anger is really traumatised fear layered over hurt," he says. "There was a need to just be in a safe place where he could talk and I could listen."
Of his relationship with his mother, Canfield says, "It's not great right now. I knew my dad could take the criticism, and I know my mum can't." She threatened to sue him if he included her name in the book (he didn't), and she was horrified by his portrayal of her in it. "She tells me that I've defamed her, ruined her life, stuff like that. It's touchy," he adds with some understatement. Both Canfield and his father doubt that she will talk to me, but I phone anyway and she does, but demands: "My name is not to be used. There is a lawyer involved. I am a professional person." She explains, "I'm in a huge bind. I love my son and I support my son but I can't give credence to the book … What I've read of the book is so far beyond anything that I recollect." She made a list of all the factual inaccuracies. "I was a 24/7 mum. I don't know anything about Nestlé and baby food, I didn't play jazz piano … it's one story after the next. So it's very hard for me."
"The book is fiction," she claims. "Oran lived at home, except for the one year when we did the transition from Pennsylvania to California … it's false memory syndrome."
It is all very reminiscent of the debate (and court case) that surrounded Augusten Burroughs' Running With Scissors; his stepfamily, the children of an eccentric therapist, sued him for exaggerating and twisting the facts of their lives in damaging ways. Coincidentally, Canfield told me that he was born in the same town where Burroughs grew up and suspects that his parents knew this rogue analyst. In person, Canfield is persuasive, but when I listen to the tape of our conversation, I find myself wondering if he has elaborated on the truth for comic effect. I'm struck by how he talks about his book as if it were fiction – of "having empathy with all the characters", of how he realised in writing it that "really everyone in the story did the best they could with what they had". But then Canfield's mother denies that they've been engaged in family therapy, which both he and his father had talked about and it becomes hard to know what to believe.
The Canfields are caught in the strands of their competing narratives, and the book, though entertaining to those outside its orbit, has created a sticky web that has reunited, strained and entangled them. "Everyone's got their stories that they've been telling themselves over the years," Canfield says, "and to read someone else's version can be jarring."

Controversial “faith healer” and false teacher Todd Bentley — who once boasted about how God told him to kick a woman in the face with his biker boot — took to Facebook on Friday to address numerous allegations of moral impropriety, including claims of homosexual advances toward interns and other sexually-related sins. Bentley, who divorced his wife in 2009 for a ministry assistant with whom he was having an affair, is denying most of the allegations and only admits to sending texts “beyond pornography” as he is being confronted about sins past and present from former associates who have gone public about his behavior.
Christian News Network has reviewed testimony and evidence from several of those who have made various allegations, including one man who was ordained under Bentley in 2016 — after the stated time of “restoration” — and says that he personally witnessed Bentley using sexual speech during his travels.
“I was in a place where I shouldn’t have been taking those thoughts that weren’t right and having those kind of conversations with people that I thought were friends and brothers that I … could really trust,” Bentley said in the 41-minute live video. “But nevertheless, I repented.”
A man who once traveled with Bentley came forward on Thursday with the allegations after initially personally contacting Rick Joyner, the leader of MorningStar Ministries and an overseer for Bentley. He says that he did not seek out the information, but others began coming to him to express concern about Bentley’s behavior.
“I believe that Todd has a perverse sexual addiction that he picked up when he was a young man through his dark demonic childhood and through him being abused as a kid,” Stephen Powell wrote on Facebook.
“I believe that that same demonic entity uses Todd to prey on others that have come into Todd’s ministry with their guard down because they felt all was safe being in the presence of an anointed man of God,” he said.
Powell outlined that he has screenshots from at least two women who received messages from Bentley that were inappropriate, including asking one repeatedly for “pictures of herself.” Christian News Network reviewed these screenshots, which include remarks such as “You have great eyes,” “That’s a great photo. Wow,” and “What [are] you wearing today?”
Powell also explained that he has testimony from others who allegedly received sexual advances from Bentley, such as male interns who were offered money for sex acts or photographs, and one who said they caught Bentley with pornography on his phone.
Others alleged that they had heard Bentley engage in crude, sexual speech and that he had a problem with drunkenness.
However, while the testimony mostly comes from others, Powell says that he witnessed concerning behavior himself while traveling with Bentley.
“I myself have seen things over the years that I find very disturbing. I myself have seen Todd preach, pray, and prophesy over the people, only to leave the meeting, purchase hard liquor, and walk into his hotel to party the rest of the night,” he wrote. “I myself have seen and heard Todd and Jessa speak with unclean/foul speech.”
Powell stated that he himself used “locker room talk” for a time and the Lord convicted him of it, adding, “with the vile culture that has infiltrated the charismatic church, it is extremely difficult at times to have fellowship with other ministers, and build alliances with others for the kingdom, and not be affected by this stuff.”
On Friday, Bentley took to social media to address the allegations, during which time he said that he’s “not a homosexual” or “having cocaine-infused parties” or engaged in “swinging,” but admitted that in 2013, he had sent “a lot” of sexually-charged texts about his wife to other men.
“I had them with associates, interns. They were sexually suggestive,” Bentley admitted. “Some of the texts, in nature, were outright inappropriate to have these conversations, even about Jessa. Things that were in our marriage bed and things that should have never been out there, and talk and fantasy, and I’ve had to own that. It’s embarrassing to have it out in public now.”
“There was degrading communication, not just jokes or brief lapses of judgment, but these things were on a darker level,” he continued. “There were things in me from my past that I needed to confront, beyond pornography. We’ve struggled, many men, with pornography, but this is beyond that.”
Bentley said that he denied his sin at first and tried to “cover it up,” but “friends would not let me do this.” He stated that he stepped away from Fresh Fire for six months due to his behavior and has been in counseling for years.
“During this long season, I have continued to pursue, even in my heart, true deep repentance,” Bentley said, reading from a statement he said was crafted with the assistance of his accountability team. “I need to be free and I want to walk in purity and holiness, and the Lord has called us all to that.”
“My staff and I have also worked to bring more holiness into our dealings with each other, keeping each other accountable to eliminate foolish practice [and] borderline behavior,” he stated. “I think I’ve made a great deal of progress. I’m still battling to be totally free of a lot of the darkness that gripped me during my lifestyle before Christ even. I’m still being delivered.”
While Bentley admitted in his statement that he was still struggling, he also asserted in his Facebook video that the situation had been dealt with in 2013 but that the allegations had “forced” him to go public and that he’s not in any “ongoing sin.”
However, on Sunday, Ben Burges of Healing Word Ministries issued a letter outlining that he was ordained under Fresh Fire Ministries in 2016, and that during his travels with Bentley, he witnessed firsthand Bentley engaging in crude sexual jesting, including in the presence to a female intern, who he says turned red with embarrassment.
“Todd’s response was, ‘Oh, get over it. You better get used to [sexual act] soon; you are about to get married,” Burges wrote.
He also says that Bentley is “no longer welcome in Pakistan among the leaders and churches he works with” due to allegations of sexual impropriety against three young women. Burges traveled with Bentley to Pakistan in 2017.
“My concern is that considering Todd’s past that there appears to be a growing amount of red flags in Todd’s life, and I would have thought that after Lakeland there would be an appearance to walk in a manner that is worthy of the call of Christ and avoid the appearance of these things in this letter,” Burges wrote.
“My concern is that if these things are not handled properly by leadership that Todd cannot get the help he needs,” he added. “There are people that are sexually scarred for life, and if leaders don’t handle this properly it will be because of the negligence of leaders that choose to not handle this appropriately.”
Bentley had gone through a “restoration” process once before in 2009 after he divorced his wife, Shonnah, and married his assistant, Jessa.
Bentley is known for his wild “faith healing” practices, stating during one meeting years ago that God had told him that there wasn’t movement during the service “[b]ecause you haven’t kicked that woman in the face.”
“And there is this older lady worshiping right in front of the platform and the Holy Spirit spoke to me. The gift of faith comes on me. He said, ‘Kick her in the face with your biker boot,'” he claimed. “I inched closer and I went bam! And just as my boot made contact with her nose, she fell under the power of God.”
Bentley is also stated to have written an article in 2008 in which he outlined that Bob Jones of the Kansas City prophetic movement once asked him if he had ever met the angel “Emma,” as she had purportedly been of assistance to Jones and others during the 1980s. Bentley says that within weeks, Emma appeared during a service in North Dakota.
“She glided into the room, emitting brilliant light and colors. Emma carried these bags and began pulling gold out of them. Then as she walked up and down the aisles of the church, she began putting gold dust on people,” he wrote. “‘God, what is happening?’ I asked. The Lord answered, ‘She is releasing the gold which is both the revelation and the financial breakthrough that I am bringing into this church.'”
“During this visitation the pastor’s wife got totally whacked by the Holy Ghost — she began running around barking like a dog or squawking like a chicken as a powerful prophetic spirit came on her,” Bentley continued. “Also, as this prophetic anointing came on her, she started getting phone numbers of complete strangers and calling them on the telephone and prophesying over them.”
A controversial video posted to YouTube also shows Jessa Bentley convulsing violently during a service as she told those gathered about a dream in which Oral Roberts put his hands over her eyes and she saw a vision of an elephant and a lion.
Christian News Network left a voicemail on a private number obtained for Bentley to seek specificity on the claims being denied and to inquire about a timeline of events. The article will be updated accordingly should more information be received.

QUOTE: "Hopewell Network of Churches is a fellowship of churches empowered by the Holy Spirit to advance Christ’s Kingdom by preparing leaders for ministry and mission. The Hopewell Network of Churches had its beginning back in the charismatic outpouring. The first church was built on Hopewell Road in Elverson in the mid 1970’s by a small number of families. Within approximately 10 years, the founding congregation, called Hopewell Mennonite Church, had grown to about 900 people, had undergone numerous additions to the original building, and had planted 10 churches. These daughter churches also began to plant churches and these became the Hopewell Network in 2001."

"Worship is superficial. I find this church to be very liberal. They have a different "prophet" (profit) through every other week. These "prophets" "Speak forth" lies into lives of the congregants. The Pastor of this "church," Curt Malizzi, claims to be an apostle so you can see the cult like practices. If you read their by-laws they expect you to sign a "covenant card" relinquishing many Constitutional rights. I believe this church to be a cult.
In 2008 Hopewell encouraged the following of the "Lakeland Outpouring" lead by Todd Bentley, a confessed Alcoholic who was having an adulterous affair with a woman he eventually married to the demise of his wife and child. Todd was "commissioned" by Pastor Curt Malizzi's senior, C. Peter Wagner, Presiding apostle of the ICA (International Coalition of Apostles.)
Wagner "commissioned" Bentley BEFORE it was discovered that he was an adulterer. Wagner claims to be a prophet also. Any way, Hopewell christian is a false church and very dangerous. DO NOT GO THERE, if you do, you go at your own peril."

In this interview with The New American’s Alex Newman, U.S. Parents Involved in Education founder Sheri Few highlights some of the problems with federal control over education. Even though federal funding makes up about 10 percent of the funds, the feds control almost 100% of what happens at school, she explained. Blasting Common Core, Few also pointed out that the federally mandated assessments were the crux of the federal government’s control. Getting the feds out of the classroom is the first step in fixing education, she added. South Carolina is now working to study what it costs to comply with federal mandates–almost certainly more than the state receives. She also explains how USPIE works, including the advisory board, which has Alex Newman, Michelle Malkin, Dr. Duke Pesta, Dr. Sandra Stotsky, Dr. James Milgram, and other experts. Despite the overwhelming evidence that the Palestinian “resistance” is really an endeavor designed to advance the Islamic jihad, far too many are a still being duped into believing that there is “Israeli apartheid,” Palestinian “oppression,”  a history of “Palestine” that goes back thousands of years, and that Palestinians desire a fair “peace process.” The Palestinian jihad notoriously includes a Pay for Slay program in which jihadists and their families are rewarded monetarily for murdering Israelis, from the youngest child to the oldest senior. Yet international aid to Palestinians is also in the billions; it has become a bogus “anti-racism” cause that is lining the pockets of profiteers and crooks at the expense of the willfully blind who are willing to sacrifice the state of Israel.
The real Palestinian goals are terrorizing Israelis, delegitimizing the Jewish state of Israel, and ultimately wiping Israel off the map — from the River (Jordan) to the Sea (Mediterranean). And now the Palestinian “resistance” has more than ever become a part of the American political landscape, since Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib entered the picture. Tlaib supports a one-state solution, which would mean the demise of the Jewish state.
Tlaib now makes no secret of her views, but prior to her victory in the Michigan Democratic primary, she deceptively endorsed “a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” as well as  American aid to Israel. The anti-Israel Jewish group J-Street endorsed her. But Tlaib’s position changed quickly after her victory; the change was celebrated by Palestinian “resistance” activists. She now considered herself free to stoke the flames of the Palestinian jihad against Israel, presenting it as “resistance,” pulling a sudden bait and switch.
Last week, 17-year-old Rina Shnerb was killed in a jihad bomb attack in the West Bank, “at a natural spring outside the central West Bank settlement of Dolev.” Rina’s brother, 19, was seriously injured, along with her father.
Chairman Arthur Stark and executive vice chairman Malcolm Hoenlein of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations issued a statement, saying…
This vicious act, using an explosive device, comes a day after [P.A. leader Mahmoud] Abbas once again reasserted his commitment to the ‘pay to slay’ program, rewarding those engaged in the kinds of terror attacks witnessed today and in recent days and inciting further outrages by providing lifetime funding for the perpetrators or their families.
Rina’s death happened because she is a Jew living in the Jewish state of Israel, the state which has been targeted for obliteration by the neighboring Muslim countries since 1948. Rashida Tlaib implied that Rina’s murder happened as a result of the “Israeli occupation.” She did not and has not called for the end to the Pay for Slay program, or for an amendment to the Palestinian Authority, Fatah, Hamas and the PLO charters which call for Israel’s obliteration.
As Jihad Watch reported, Tlaib said: “We need to support nonviolent approaches to ending the Israeli occupation and guaranteeing equal rights for all.” In other words, Tlaib reiterated the claim that Israel is oppressing the Palestinians, violating their rights, and blamed Rina’s murder on that oppression. Meanwhile, Tlaib’s fellow Palestinians were busy cheering and celebrating the teens murder.
Terror organizations have praised the attack, with Hamas terrorists taking to Gaza’s streets with portable microphones to praise the terrorists for their actions and the results thereof. In addition, the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades and the Martyr Ayman Judeh groups also praised the “heroic action.” In an announcement, they praised the “legitimate fight” of the “Palestinian nation” against the “enemy Zionist army and the hoards of settlers.
This is a primary source of anti-Semitism today: Islamic anti-Semitism, rooted in hatred.
Yet the West is full of people who accept Palestinian propaganda and even the Palestinians’ use of their own women and children as human shields to advance the jihad against the Jewish state.
“Palestinian’ organizations applaud murderous terror attack,” by Dalit Halevi, Israel National News, August 24, 2019:
The Palestinian Authority and its chairman, Mahmoud Abbas, have not yet condemned the terror attack which killed 17-year-old Rina Shnerb and injured her father and brother.
However, terror organizations have praised the attack, with Hamas terrorists taking to Gaza’s streets with portable microphones to praise the terrorists for their actions and the results thereof.
In addition, the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades and the Martyr Ayman Judeh groups also praised the “heroic action.” In an announcement, they praised the “legitimate fight” of the “Palestinian nation” against the “enemy Zionist army and the hoards of settlers.”
The Popular Resistance Committees, an Islamic terror group, said the terror attack was a “quality” action in the “Palestinian” struggle in Judea and Samaria, claiming it is a natural consequence of the settlers’ “crimes” in Jerusalem……

When is Marvel going to introduce their Christian, Jewish, Hindu and Buddhist superheroes? They are only introducing this Muslim superhero because of the hugely successful post-9/11 campaign by Islamic supremacists and their Leftist allies to portray Muslims as victims of “Islamophobia” and “hatred” — when actually the incidence of attacks on innocent Muslims is very low (not that a single one is acceptable or justified), and the entire “Islamophobia” campaign is an attempt to intimidate people into thinking that there is something wrong with fighting against jihad terror and Islamic supremacism.
Will Kamala Khan fight against jihadis? It’s much more likely that she will face an array of “right-wing Islamophobes,” leering evilly as they pull of hijabs and vandalize mosques.

Dozens of Alleged Epstein Victims Describe Abuses By Pedophile In Court

Accusers recall horrific rapes and

sexual predation by billionaire

when they were underage girls

SEE: https://www.infowars.com/dozens-of-alleged-epstein-victims-describe-abuses-by-pedophile-in-court/republished below in full unedited for informational, educational and research purposes:
Over 30 women claiming to have been victims of Jeffrey Epstein appeared outside of a Manhattan court Tuesday to describe the abuses they allegedly endured at the hands of the late billionaire pedophile.
To the victims, including Epstein’s most well-known accuser Virginia Giuffre, the hearing is their last chance to tell their story to a federal judge before Epstein’s case is closed following his suspicious death in his prison cell earlier this month.
Many of the victims, some of whom haven’t been named, ripped Epstein as a “coward” who “ruined” their innocence and “robbed” them of the chance to confront the pedophile in court.
“Jeffrey Epstein sexually abused me for years,” said Courtney Wild, who says she was a middle schooler who wore braces when Epstein groomed her. “I feel very angry and sad and justice has never been served in this case.”
Another anonymous victim released this statement: “Jeffrey Epstein stole my innocence. He gave me a life sentence of guilt and shame. I do not consider myself a victim — I see myself a survivor. The abuse that I endured cannot continue. Let’s stop this before it happens to other young women.”
Other unnamed victims put out statements of their own for U.S. District Judge Richard Berman.
“I used to be relatively carefree, inquisitive, hopeful, and excited about life,” one accuser said. “But, my life changed because of Jeffrey Epstein. My perspective on life became very dark when I was unknowingly recruited by one of his agents. Jeffrey Epstein ruined me. His recruiter ruined me.”
“The far-reaching consequences of that day ruined my family’s lives. I’ve chosen to remain anonymous in order to protect my family from unwanted media attention.”
Another accuser said Epstein was very “strategic” in how he selected and groomed his victims.
“Each of us has a different story and different circumstances as to why we stayed in it,” said a woman identified as Jane Doe 2. “It was like the analogy where the frog is in the pot and the heat goes up over time.”
Jane Doe 4 said Epstein’s victims “will never heal” from his abuses.
“He could not begin to fathom what he took from us,” she said. “I am every girl that he did this to and they are me. Today we stand together.”
The judge will likely close the criminal case against Epstein now that he’s dead, but the victims have vowed to sue his $577 million estate.
Lawyers of the victims also asked the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI to bring all of Epstein’s “co-conspirators to justice.”
