THE GROTESQUE IMMORALITY OF MAINSTREAM ISLAMIC ETHICS PART 3

I am a Canadian ex-Muslim. In Part 1 and Part 2 of this series of articles, I addressed the harsh realities of Islamic apostasy and the permissibility of rape and pedophilia in Islamic theology. In this segment, I will address the permissibility of wife-beating in Islamic theology and law.
Sadly, there are numerous passages contained within Islam’s most revered and authoritative texts (the Qur’an, hadiths and sira) that establish wife-beating to be permissible for Muslim men.
In the above-mentioned texts, the Qur’an in particular, Muslim men are instructed to beat their wives should they become disobedient. Disturbingly, Chapter 4, Verse 34 of the Qur’an teaches that Muslim men can beat those of their wives from whom they merely “fear disobedience.”
Qur’an 4:34: Men are in charge of women by what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in absence what Allah would have them guard. But those from whom you fear arrogance – advise them; forsake them in bed; and strike them. But if they obey you, seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.
In the verse above, the Qur’an proclaims that men are superior to women, implies that women who are not “devoutly obedient” are unrighteous, and that if a Muslim husband merely “fears arrogance” from his wives, he is to first admonish them, and then lastly beat them if they do not comply.
Sadly, as mentioned above, the permissibility for Muslim men to beat their disobedient wives is also found in Muhammad, the prophet of Islam’s, Sunnah (the sayings and doings of Muhammad contained within the hadith and sira) as well as Islamic Sharia law.
The Sahih Bukhari hadith below depicts the prophet of Islam failing to admonish one of his men folk followers for beating his wife to the point where dark bruises appeared on her skin. Because of Muhammad’s supreme authoritative role in Islam, his failure to forbid wife-beating in effect gives tactical approval of this inhumane practice. Furthermore, after the women in the hadith below pleaded with Muhammad to have her husband desist from beating her, Muhammad not only failed to forbid the practice, but ordered the women to return to her husband and acquiesce to his sexual demands.
Sahih Bukhari: Volume 7, Book 72, Number 715:
Narrated ‘Ikrima:
Rifa’a divorced his wife whereupon ‘AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. ‘Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Apostle came, ‘Aisha said, “I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!” When ‘AbdurRahman heard that his wife had gone to the Prophet, he came with his two sons from another wife. She said, “By Allah! I have done no wrong to him but he is impotent and is as useless to me as this,” holding and showing the fringe of her garment, ‘Abdur-Rahman said, “By Allah, O Allah’s Apostle! She has told a lie! I am very strong and can satisfy her but she is disobedient and wants to go back to Rifa’a.” Allah’s Apostle said, to her, “If that is your intention, then know that it is unlawful for you to remarry Rifa’a unless Abdur-Rahman has had sexual intercourse with you.” Then the Prophet saw two boys with ‘Abdur-Rahman and asked (him), “Are these your sons?” On that ‘AbdurRahman said, “Yes.” The Prophet said, “You claim what you claim (i.e.. that he is impotent)? But by Allah, these boys resemble him as a crow resembles a crow.”
The hadith below depicts the prophet of Islam hitting his child bride and favourite wife, Aisha, “striking her on the chest and causing her pain.” Because the Qur’an teaches (Verse 33, Chapter 21) that Muhammad has left an “excellent example of conduct” for Muslims’ to follow, wife-beating is considered to be normative behavior for Muslim believers. In other words, the inhumane crime of wife-beating has unfortunately become sanctified in Islamic theology, and hence mandated in Islamic law.
Sahih Muslim: Book 004, Number 2172:
Muhammad b. Qais said (to the people): Should I not narrate to you (a hadith of the Holy Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He (Muhammad b. Qais) then reported that it was ‘A’isha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi’. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I also returned. He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I, however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in the bed, he (the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O ‘A’isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal, Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come to you), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and I did not like to awaken you, fearing that you may be frightened. He (Gabriel) said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi’ (to those lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I pray for them (How should I beg forgiveness for them)? He said: Say, Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the Believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone ahead of us, and those who come later on, and we shall, God willing, join you.

Like the U.S. Catholic bishops, the Italian bishops appear not feel any obligation to support measures that would protect their people from jihad attacks. The message that the Italian bishops are sending to Catholics and other citizens of Italy is simple: drop dead. They are apparently unconcerned about the jihad attacks and spiraling crime rates that have come to Italy with the mass Muslim migrant influx.
Some reminders: all of the jihadis who murdered 130 people in Paris in November 2015 had just entered Europe as refugees. In February 2015, the Islamic State boasted it would soon flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees. The Lebanese Education Minister said in September 2015 that there were 20,000 jihadis among the refugees in camps in his country. On May 10, 2016, Patrick Calvar, the head of France’s DGSI internal intelligence agency, said that the Islamic State was using migrant routes through the Balkans to get jihadis into Europe.
The Italian bishops have never expressed any concern about any of this. They are completely in line with Pope Francis, who has claimed risibly that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” This has become a super-dogma in the Catholic Church: if you don’t believe that Islam is a Religion of Peace, you will be ruthlessly harassed and silenced by the hierarchy. The bishops of the Catholic Church are much more concerned that you believe that Islam is a religion of peace than that you believe in, say, the Nicene Creed. And so what possible reason could there be to be concerned about these “refugees”? It’s a religion of peace!

“Italian bishops champion ‘voiceless’ migrants,” by Isabella Haberstock de Carvalho, The Tablet, July 20, 2018:
The leadership of the Italian bishops’ conference has pledged its support for migrants arriving in the country while warning against a growing culture of xenophobia across Europe.
“We feel responsible for this army of the poor, victims of war and hunger, of deserts and of tortures,” they wrote in a statement released on Wednesday. “It is the story of suffering, of men, women and children – [a story] which prevents the closing of borders and the erection of barriers – which asks us to show solidarity, justice and peace.”
The letter, written by the Presidency of the Episcopal Conference of Italy, admits that the bishops and the Church “know the solutions are not simple” but “enlightened by the Gospel of Jesus Christ we [want to] continue to lend our voice to those who do not have one.”
The President of the Conference, Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, explained in a separate interview with Vatican newspaper “L’Osservatore Romano” that Europe must avoid “fear and xenophobia” and build societies based on “reunion and solidarity.”
The statement by the bishops’ leadership – which includes the president of the conference, the three vice-presidents and the secretary-general – comes days after almost 1,000 priests, theologians and charity workers signed a letter to the bishops complaining that too few church leaders were speaking out against a growing climate of racism and anti-migrant attitudes in Italy and Europe.
The letter stressed that Christianity is incompatible with hostility to migrants and that there was “an exploitation of the Christian faith, with use of religious symbols such as the crucifix, the rosary or verses from the scriptures, in a sometimes blasphemous and offensive way.”
This was a thinly veiled criticism of Matteo Salvini, Italy’s new interior minister who earlier this year held up his rosary while swearing to implement the Italian constitution “according to the teachings of the sacred gospels”, but has become renowned for his hardline stance against migrants.
One of the initiators of the letter, Fr Rocco D’Ambrosio, political philosophy professor at the Gregorian University, stressed that the authors were not trying to condemn Italian churches for not making an effort to welcome migrants but rather were asking bishops to address “a growing racism in churches and people’s attitudes”….
In their statement the leadership of the conference stressed they would “walk with our Christian communities, getting involved in a widespread hospitality that is able to increase fraternity.”…
Finally, they say that the way to save humanity from “vulgarity and barbarism” is a commitment to “preserve life” starting with “the most exposed, humiliated and trampled.”

Greg Johnson, the pastor of the PCA church that is hosting the infamous “Gay Christian” Revoice Conference, says that he’s open to a similar conference for Christians identifying as pedophiles.
Appearing on the Cross Politic podcast, Johnson was interviewed by co-hosts, Gabriel Rench, David Shannon, and Toby Sumter. The podcast, which stands for “Christ over politics,” claims to mix “the taboo formula of faith, culture, and politics to bring the clarity of the gospel into muddle America.” The three interviewed Johnson about the controversial LGBTQXYZLMNOP conference and asked friendly questions about why he would do such a thing, while drinking coffee and huffing what appears to be a Swisher Sweet and Mild cigar.
The pertinent time stamp of this interview is at the 4.30 mark, in which the host asked Johnson if he would consider hosting a similar conference designed for pedophiles. You can watch the video below.

Host: The central question that we wanted to raise with the parody site, is….if you were asked, the elders at Memorial Presbyterian, to host a conference that would ‘support, encourage and empower’ pedophile Christians – people who are attracted to children, sexually – so that they can ‘flourish while observing the historic Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality,’ do you think you would seriously consider that request.
Johnson: That’s an interesting question. If you’re talking about people who have sexual brokenness and are committed to Christ and aren’t acting on it, maybe they’re taking chemical castration drugs, they’re being monitored and they really want to know ‘how I can walk with Jesus’ I think we’d definitely consider taking them in and having a safe place for that conversation…

There are differences between Same Sex Attraction (SSA) and pedophilia, according to Johnson, including a “power differential” between adults and kids and that even non-intimate relationships between adults and children outside the family unit are inappropriate. Other than that, Johnson seems to answer in the affirmative that it’s perfectly possible to identify as a pedophile and a Christian and that his church is willing to help them be “supported, encouraged and empowered as pedophile Christians.”

Of all people, the Roman Catholic pope calls out the heresy of the prosperity gospel movement, condemning it as a “pseudo-gospel” that is “different and dangerous.” Of course, coming from the mother whore of false gospels, the Roman Catholic Church, this seems ironic. Nonetheless, when even Catholics are able to see and point out a dangerous and heretical movement, there might be something to it.

In the latest edition of the Vatican-approved Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica, two of the pope’s top communication advisers wrote an article about the damage caused by the prosperity gospel, spread by American evangelicalism.
The article, “The Prosperity Gospel: Dangerous and Different” directly calls out the idea as fake theology intertwined with the American dream and Donald Trump, and specifically references American megachurch pastors and televangelists, Oral Roberts, Pat Robertson and Joel Osteen. The article mentions that the prosperity gospel has made those preachers wealthy while they spread a “pseudo-gospel” that is counter-biblical. The prosperity gospel essentially says “wealth and success as synonymous with true religious conviction, and consequently, sees ‘poverty, sickness and unhappiness’ as a lack of faith,” according to Cruxnow.com.
The authors, the Rev. Antonio Spadaro and Marcelo Figueroa, talk about how the prosperity gospel ends up being directly in contrast to social justice, salvation and the charge to love the less fortunate: “In truth, one of the serious problems that the prosperity gospel brings is its perverse effects on the poor. … In fact, it not only exasperates individualism and knocks down the sense of solidarity, but it pushes people to adopt a miracle-centered outlook because faith alone—not social or political commitment—can procure prosperity.”
“This is why there can be a lack of empathy and solidarity in these cases from [prosperity gospel] followers,” the authors wrote, referring to different crises around the world. “There can be no compassion for those who are not prosperous, for clearly they have not followed the rules and thus live in failure and are not loved by God.”
The article goes on to say that the prosperity gospel is very clearly American as it serves the U.S. economic-political model, as well as the idea of “American exceptionalism,” which has led many people to believe that the U.S. “has grown as a nation under the blessing of the providential God of the evangelical movement.”

The Southern Baptist Convention is fully “woke.” Each and every entity of the SBC is pumping out Critical Race Theory as aggressively and quickly as they can. Lifeway Christian Resources, the publishing and retail arm of the SBC is keeping pace with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary’s “Kingdom Diversity” Affirmative Action initiative and the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission’s hard at an unapologetic promotion of Cultural Marxism. Lifeway now has launched a ministry devoted entirely to one specific ethnicity and to the exclusion of other ethnicities.
Back in the day we all agreed that was racist.
Martin Luther King may not have been a Christian (he denied the resurrection and the deity of Christ, just for starters), but he would have strongly rejected Lifeway’s approach to relevancy and pragmatism. In fact, Dr. King would have considered the notion of exclusivity-by-race to be a gross perversion. We should, as King asserted, judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Critical Race Theory, on the other hand, insists on fixating upon race and ethnicity and finding identity solely in demographic minority status. These Cultural Marxists go so far as to claim that “color-blindness” – perhaps the central tenet of Dr. King’s ideology – is inherently racist (the ERLC has made this claim repeatedly).

“Black Church Life” is the division of Lifeway designed “to serve urban and multi-cultural pastors, ministries, and lay leaders through authentic Bible studies, resources, and events that understand their unique ministry needs and point-of-view.”
Apparently, there aren’t black people in rural America. Who knew?
Of course, there are not unique ministry needs in “urban and multicultural” communities. People are sinners who need saving. That never changes, and neither does the Gospel.
They also just finished hosting a “Black Church Leadership and Family Conference” today. Pulpit & Pen has reached out to Lifeway and asked if they have a “White Church Leadership and Family Conference” planned. They have not responded by the time of publication.

In the meantime, the current consensus of the Evangelical Intelligentsia seems to be, “We can’t be racist; we intentionally divide people by ethnicity.” Southern Baptists in the segregated Jim Crow South would have been so proud.
