An incendiary kite flown from Gaza sparked a major fire in an open field across from the Sapir College in the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council, near the southern city of Sderot on Tuesday afternoon.
Heavy smoke covered the college building as firefighters were dispatched to the area and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to the nearby road and into the college. There were no reports of injuries.
On Tuesday afternoon, fires broke out in seven other locations in the Gaza vicinity, four in the Eshkol Regional Council and three in Sha’ar Hanegev. Firefighters gained control of the fire in all places….
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Monday that Israel was not prepared to accept a reality in which incendiary kites are flown over into the country from the Gaza Strip on a daily basis.
“We should be clear that we are not prepared to accept the kites becoming normality. The same applies for riots on the border fence and attempts to breach it and cause damage to the sovereign territory of Israel,” Lieberman said during his remarks at the Yisrael Beytenu faction meeting….
“That’s why we will act in accordance with Israeli interests in time and at a timing that suits us, whenever we decide,” he warned. “In any event, I am not in the custom of leaving scores unsettled and we will settle all scores with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.”
According to the defense minister, 600 such kites have been sent from the strip so far, while 400 have been intercepted by Israeli security forces using technological means.
“Two-hundred succeeded in reaching our territory and they burned 9,000 dunams of crops and forests,” Lieberman said.

Jim Kenney, mayor of sanctuary city Philadelphia, has waded into a dispute between President Trump and the Eagles football squad, accusing Trump of not being a “true patriot” for disinviting the team from a White House visit.
Some Eagles players have used the traditional invitation to make a political statement regarding their opposition to the Trump administration and the President’s staunch position on showing due respect for the National Anthem.
It is reported that the team planned to send less than 10 players to the event – an affront to more 1,000 fans expected to be in attendance.
The President preempted the organization’s maneuver, canceling their invitation and announcing that the gathering will instead be used to “honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.”
Mayor Kenney, a Democrat, took the opportunity to signal his offense with the President’s decision and lob a variety of insults on behalf of his city, which has actively provided aid and shelter to criminal illegal aliens since 2014.
An official statement from the Philadelphia Mayor’s office reads as follows:
The Eagles call the birthplace of our democracy home, so it’s no surprise that this team embodies everything that makes our country and our city great. Their athletic accomplishments on the field led to [a] historic victory this year. Fans all across the country rallied behind them because we like to root for the underdog and we feel joy when we see the underdogs finally win. I’m equally proud of the Eagles’ activism off the field. These are players who stand up for the causes they believe in and who contribute in meaningful ways to their community. They represent the diversity of our nation—a nation in which we are free to express our opinions.
Disinviting them from the White House only proves that our President is not a true patriot, but a fragile egomaniac obsessed with crowd size and afraid of the embarrassment of throwing a party to which no one wants to attend.
City Hall is always open for a celebration.
The City of Philadelphia and the Department of Justice are currently locked in a legal battle over the federal government’s move to withhold funding from cities which do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement – otherwise known as ‘sanctuary cities.’
After a brief period in 2015 when former mayor Michael Nutter reversed the city’s sanctuary policies, Mayor Kenney immediately reinstated them on his first day in office.
Philadelphia’s Office of Immigrant Affairs website explains: “There is no legal or uniform definition of what constitutes a ‘sanctuary city.’ We do not use that term. We are a ‘Welcoming City.’ We do not allow our City employees, including police officers, to ask about the documentation status of people they encounter.”
The modified event for Eagles fans will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the White House, where the United States Marine Band and United States Army Chorus are slated to perform patriotic American music.
Instead of hosting Super Bowl LII winners the Philadelphia Eagles at the White House Tuesday, the President has instead opted to host a parade celebrating America.

On Monday Trump announced he would no longer host the Eagles at the White House after only 10 players agreed to attend.
Trump just issued a statement that the Philadelphia Eagles are “unable to come” to the White House tomorrow “with their full team” because they “disagree with their president” on standing for the anthem.
“The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better,” Trump wrote in a statement.
“These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony–one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America.”

The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly held that police owe no legal duty to protect individual citizens from harm. That means I am on my own in an emergency, and I have no recourse if the police show up after an emergency, or never show up at all.
S102 and A2761 (firearms magazine ban) limit my ability to defend myself in an emergency. The same government that abandons its legal duty to protect me shouldn’t also limit my ability to protect MYSELF (it really should be empowering me instead). Don’t make me a victim! Vote NO on S102 or A2761, or amend to add meaningful grandfathering of existing magazines.

“Held” Mental Health Bill Now Released For Full Vote Thursday
Last week, S2259 – so-called “extreme risk protection order” legislation – was held in Senate committee so it could be further amended. Yesterday (June 4), the bill was amended in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and released for a full floor Senate vote this coming Thursday, June 7.
Even as amended, the bill provides for the unconstitutional suspension of Second Amendment rights and seizure of firearms with no advance due process. It also fails to contain a specific provision severely penalizing those who fabricate allegations simply to harass those with whom they disagree. ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach slammed the legislation in testimony at yesterday’s hearing. Note: the newly amended version of the bill was not available on the legislative website when this alert was released.

Nathan Larson, an accountant who lives in Fauquier County, thinks it’s okay for adults to have sex with children. He is running as an Independent for Virginia’s 10 Congressional District.
And he wants to make it legal.
