Vice News interviewed students and staff at a New Mexico
private school who work with local law enforcement to train for an
active shooter situation.

New Life Baptist Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico is led by pastor and former police officer Larry Allen and his wife Lillie.

The school is receiving attention following the Parkland, Florida shooting that has reignited the debate over school safety.

Every student from kindergarten through 12th grade undergoes active
shooter training and select upperclassmen, called Pastor’s Warriors, go
through tactical training.

Also, five of the school’s twenty teachers are armed, but nobody knows who carries and who doesn’t.

Pastor Allen says, “We try to tell our kids, okay if you’re gonna die you may as well die fighting.”

BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS & POLICE COLLUDED TO SHIELD CRIMINAL STUDENTS FROM ARREST SO THAT SCHOOLS COULD GET MORE STATE & FEDERAL GRANTS

BROWARD COUNTY SCHOOLS & POLICE COLLUDED TO SHIELD CRIMINAL STUDENTS FROM ARREST TO GET MORE GRANT MONIES
 “The
Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a
political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to
stop arresting students for crimes.”

“The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to
‘improve their statistics’ and gain state and federal grant money for
improvements therein.””
Clues about how Nikolas Cruz slipped through cracks are emerging
BY DAN LYMAN
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Bombshell claims alleging collusion between Broward County law
enforcement and the Broward school district to protect criminal students
from arrests and disciplinary action have been leveled by a journalist
familiar with the protocols in practice.
According to information currently available, Parkland mass shooter
Nikolas Cruz was visited by local law enforcement 39 times over the
course of seven years and was also reported to the FBI at least twice,
leaving many to wonder how he slipped through the cracks, evaded arrest,
continued attending school, and legally purchased firearms that he
would later use to kill 17 of his former classmates and teachers.

Some clues may have emerged from a report chronicled
by the editors of the Conservative Treehouse (CTH), an independent
blog, who have provided corroborating documentation that paint a very
convincing picture for the circumstances that may have enabled Cruz to
slip through the cracks.

“I spent about 18 months in 2012, 2013 and 2014 investigating Broward
and Miami-Dade school policies and how those policies transfer to law
enforcement practices,” CTH explains. “What I stumbled upon was a
Broward County law enforcement system in a state of conflict. The
Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a
political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to
stop arresting students for crimes.”

“The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to
‘improve their statistics’ and gain state and federal grant money for
improvements therein.”

The 2013 “Collaborative Agreement On School Discipline” between the School
Board of Broward County and the Sheriff of Broward Country, as well as
the Fort Lauderdale Branch of the NAACP and a variety of other state and
local legal bodies, can be found HERE.

In short, the agreement established new standards and practices by
which law enforcement would seek alternatives to arresting students who
had committed crimes or “minor disturbances,” with a specific focus on “students of color, students with disabilities and LGBTQ students,” who were “disproportionately impacted by school-based arrests for the same behavior as their peers.”
CTH asserts that the types of lawbreaking being swept under the rug quickly escalated from minor offenses to serious felonies.
“The need to continue lowering the arrests year-over-year meant that
increasingly more severe unlawful behavior had to be ignored. Over time
even the most severe of unlawful conduct was being filtered by
responding police,” CTH writes. “We found out about it, when six cops
blew the whistle on severe criminal conduct they were being instructed
to hide.”
Media reports corroborate the external results of the new policies
implemented in Broward, and school district superintendent Robert
Runcie, who had been brought in from the Chicago public school system
to mitigate the massive issues in Broward, was hailed as a hero as
suspensions magically dropped by 40% percent and arrests by 66% in just
two years.
The American Prospect reported at the time
“Broward announced broad changes designed to mitigate the use of
harsh punishments for minor misbehavior at the beginning of this school
year. While other districts have amended their discipline codes,
prohibited arrests in some circumstances, and developed alternatives to
suspension, Broward was able to do all these things at once with the
cooperation of a group that included a member of the local NAACP, a
school board member, a public defender, a local sheriff, a state
prosecutor, and several others.”

In 2015, Runcie was invited to join an Obama White House school discipline summit to share his ‘secrets to success’ in lowering student arrests and suspensions.
In 2016, Runcie was awarded ‘Florida Superintendent of the Year.’
The Miami Herald alluded to the types of oversights and ‘missed’ signs that enabled Nikolas Cruz to glide through the system in a report on Wednesday.
“And long before Cruz embarked on the worst school shooting in
Florida history, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies had multiple warnings
that the 19-year-old was a violent threat and a potential school
shooter, according to records released Thursday.”

“In November, a tipster called BSO to say Cruz ‘could be a school
shooter in the making,’ but deputies did not write up a report on that
warning. It came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize
his weapons. Two years ago, according to a newly released timeline of
interactions with Cruz’s family, a deputy investigated a report that
Cruz ‘planned to shoot up the school’ — intelligence that was forwarded
to the school’s resource officer, with no apparent result.”

On Wednesday, Broward Sheriff Scott Israel revealed that an armed
Parkland school officer, Scot Peterson, arrived on the scene at Marjory
Stoneman Douglas High School as Cruz was in the process of killing 17
innocent victims, but never went inside the building to render aid.

CPAC CENSORSHIP & HIJACKING OF FREE SPEECH PANEL~DAN SCHNEIDER & MATT SCHLAPP THE CULPRITS

CPAC Censors, Hijacks AFDI Free Speech Panel
BY ROBERT SPENCER
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has never been
much interested in hosting honest discussion of the jihad terror threat.
I was on a panel there in 2003, and in 2007 debated both Dinesh d’Souza
and “moderator” Suhail Khan on Islam and the jihad threat (partial
video here). I was on various AFDI panels while we were still able to have them there, but I haven’t been back since Suhail Khan flew into a hysterical rage at CPAC 2012 when I challenged him to debate, except for an appearance on Breitbart’s “Uninvited” panel in 2013.

Not only has CPAC consistently dissembled about the nature and
magnitude of the jihad threat, but it has also shown a disturbing
tendency to dance to the tune of the Left.
Saul Alinsky’s 13th Rule for Radicals is “‘Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.
Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go
after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than
institutions.” The Left consistently does this; in the case of
counter-jihadis (including me), it presents our statements, however
correct and demonstrable, as egregious and individual to us — that’s
freezing and personalizing the target. Then Leftists move to “cut off
the support network and isolate the target from sympathy,” demanding
that others on the Right disavow and condemn, or at very least shun, the
target. And establishment conservatives have always willingly played
along, allowing their associations and allies to be dictated by their
enemies.

I’ve been the recipient of both the Alinsky treatment and the
shunning from caitiffs on the Right, including CPAC, for years, but I’ve
never seen a more nauseating example of CPAC’s cravenness, cowardliness
and dishonesty than what has played out with my colleague Pamela Geller
over the last ten days. Since last September, Geller has been trying to
get a room at CPAC for an AFDI event, even offering to pay sponsorship
fees, which are pricey, since sponsoring organizations are given a room
in which they can hold an event. CPAC stonewalled and ran out the clock.

Finally on February 14, she submitted a proposal for a panel discussion
entitled “Suppression of Conservative Views on Social Media: A First
Amendment Issue.” She added a list of proposed speakers, including James
Damore, Google whistleblower; Harmeet K. Dhillon, renowned free speech
attorney; Dan Gainor, Vice President for Business and Culture, Media
Research Center; Jim Hoft, Editor-in-Chief, Gateway Pundit; James
O’Keefe, Project Veritas; and Marlene Jaeckel, Tech Entrepreneur. I know
this because I consulted with Pamela Geller at the time about the focus
of this panel and who the speakers should be, before she submitted this
proposal to CPAC.

CPAC’s Dan Schneider and Matt Schlapp approved this panel, but would
not let it be an AFDI event. Schneider and Schlapp insisted that the
panel be sponsored by the American Principles Project (APP), which
neither Geller nor I had ever heard of.
Otherwise, however, they made no
changes — until shortly thereafter, when Hoft enraged the Leftist
establishment by noting what has been likewise observed by many people —
that the pro-gun control students speaking out in the wake of the
Florida school shooting appeared coached. As condemnations rained down
on Hoft from the likes of Chelsea Clinton and Paul Krugman, CPAC again
rushed to do the Left’s bidding. APP top dog Terry Schilling, a board
member of the American Conservative Union (ACU), which hosts CPAC,
demanded that Hoft be dropped from the panel. Geller refused to play
lapdog for the Left, and so Schilling and CPAC canceled the panel.

And then they stole it.

Today at CPAC there is a panel entitled “Suppression of Conservative
Views on Social Media: A First Amendment Issue” and featuring Damore,
Dhillon, Gainor, O’Keefe, and Jaeckel. Hmmm, where did they get the idea
for such an event? CPAC claims that it was all their idea. CPAC
officials issued CPAC staffers talking points
on various issues, so that they would march in lockstep in the media
(very conservative, that). One of these talking points stated: “CPAC
sponsor APP is hosting a panel discussion on conservative voices being
silenced on the internet. APP invited Pamela Geller to participate on
the panel. She initially accepted but she then made her participation
contingent on APP including another person who was obviously a poor
choice. Pamela is actively promoting a version of events that are
intentionally inaccurate designed to mislead and mischaracterize the
construction of this presentation. She is no longer a participant, her
claims that the panel is cancelled are false and the panel will move
forward as intended.”

This is, to put it politely, a pack of lies. APP did not originate
this panel. It did not invite Geller to participate. She did not make
her participation contingent on anyone else being included. She is not
promoting a false version of event; they are. In reality, Geller
originated the panel. APP was added on by CPAC. Hoft was on the panel
from the beginning, with CPAC’s agreement. When CPAC insisted that Hoft
be dropped because the Left was angry with him, Geller refused,
whereupon CPAC canceled the panel. I know all this because I have been
involved with this imbroglio at every step of the way.

I knew CPAC brass, including Dan Schneider, Matt Schlapp, and Terry
Schilling, were cowardly. I didn’t know they were a bunch of liars and
thieves. But they are: this panel is going on today, with Geller’s title
and Geller’s speakers. CPAC stole the whole thing.

CPAC’s attendance has been declining over the years. We can only hope
it will keep on zooming down, all the way to zero, or that CPAC will
soon get a complete overhaul in leadership, to bring in some people with
some integrity.

BRUTAL MS-13 GANG TARGETED BY TRUMP HAS SPREAD TO 22 STATES

BRUTAL MS-13 GANG TARGETED BY TRUMP
HAS SPREAD TO 22 STATES
BY WARREN MASS
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

A February 2018 report from the Center for Immigration Studies
(CIS) — a non-profit research organization specializing in
immigration-related matters — reveals that the MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha)
transnational criminal gang has spread to 22 U.S. states.

The report noted that 207 murders have been tied to MS-13 since 2012,
and there are over 500 cases nationwide of MS-13 members being charged
in major crimes. The states with the greatest number of such cases were
California, with 92; Maryland, with 85; New York, with 80; and Virginia,
with 63.

CIS researchers, after reviewing more than 500 cases of MS-13 gang
members arrested nationwide since 2012, concluded that the growth of the
gang’s influence represents an extremely serious threat to public
safety in communities where MS-13 has established itself. Furthermore,
concluded CIS, this growth is directly connected to the illegal arrival
and resettlement of more than 300,000 Central American youths and
families that has continued unabated for six years. Another factor named
by the immigration organization has been the de-prioritization of
immigration enforcement in the interior of the country that occurred
during the same time as the arrival of the young illegal aliens.

Jessica Vaughan, the director of policy studies at CIS, noted that
the Trump administration has declared war on MS-13, reprising a similar
initiative launched by the Bush administration in 2005 that stifled the
gang’s activity after several years. However, noted the report, the gang
has been able to rebuild itself since 2012, which was the year that
Barack Obama was re-elected to the presidency.

The report said that the growing number of so-called sanctuary cities
has hampered efforts to apprehend MS-13 members, stating, “The
proliferation of sanctuary policies that interfere with cooperation
between state and local law enforcement agencies threatens to hamper
efforts to stifle MS-13 activity. The federal government must take steps
to clarify how federal law permits such cooperation and also must set
up consequences for those jurisdictions and officials who impose
sanctuary policies.”

Regarding Vaughan’s observation that the Trump administration has
declared war on MS-13, that fact was made evident to millions of viewers
who watched the presidential State of the Union address on January 30.
The president invited the parents of two girls who were brutally
murdered while walking in their neighborhood by six members of MS-13.

“These two precious girls were brutally murdered while walking
together in their hometown. Six members of the savage gang MS-13 have
been charged with Kayla and Nisa’s murders. Many of these gang members
took advantage of glaring loopholes in our laws to enter the country as
unaccompanied alien minors and wound up in Kayla and Nisa’s high
school,” Trump said during his address.

“Everyone in America is grieving for you,” the president continued.
“And 320 million hearts are breaking for you. We cannot imagine the
depth of your sorrow, but we can make sure that other families never
have to endure this pain.”

CBS News provided details of the brutal murder in a January 30 report:

On September 13 [2016], the day before
her 16th birthday, Nisa Mickens’ brutally beaten body was found on a
tree-lined street. The next day, the beaten body of her lifelong friend,
16-year-old Kayla Cuevas, was discovered in the wooded backyard of a
nearby home. In March, the United States Attorney for the Eastern
District of New York announced 13 defendants were charged with seven
murders, including the deaths of Nisa and Kayla.

Those charged with the murder of the two girls were identified as members of MS-13.

CBS News noted that MS-13 is headquartered in El Salvador, according
to the FBI. In 2012, the brutal gang was designated a transnational
criminal organization by the Treasury Department, which said the gang is
involved in “serious transnational criminal activities, including drug
trafficking, kidnapping, human smuggling, sex trafficking, murder,
assassinations, racketeering, blackmail, extortion, and immigration
offenses.”

The State of the Union address was not the first time that Trump has
publicly declared war on MS-13. Last July, CNN reported that the
president traveled to Long Island to deliver a speech in front of
law-enforcement officers at Suffolk County Community College. Long
Island has been plagued with large numbers of MS-13 gang members in
recent years.

“Together we’re going to restore safety to our streets and peace to
our communities and we’re going to destroy the vile, criminal cartel
MS-13 and many other gangs,” Trump told his audience.

“We’ve gotten a lot of them out of here,” Trump said, “But the rest are coming. They’ll be out of here quickly, right? Quickly.”

The CNN report noted that there were roughly 24,000 MS-13 members in
Central America in 2012, according to an analysis by the UN Office on
Drugs and Crime. As of last July, the Justice Department estimated
roughly 30,000 members worldwide and more than 10,000 in the United
States, a number that has held steady for some years but that the DOJ
believes is trending upward.

MS-13’s infiltration of the United States, hidden among
“unaccompanied immigrant children,” was reported as far back as 2014. We
reported back in July of that year that an internal summary of Border
Patrol operations at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Nogales
(Arizona) Placement Center stated that 16 unaccompanied immigrant
children being held at the facility were members of MS-13.

We noted at the time that the then-current report from Border Patrol
officials confirmed what had been known for some time. On June 12, 2014
then-Arizona Governor Jan Brewer sent a letter to then-House Speaker
John Boehner (R-Ohio) and then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
(D-Nev.), in which she expressed serious concerns about the gang
presence among the illegal immigrants from Central America crossing our
borders. Her letter stated:

By the Obama administration’s own
estimation, 230,000 unaccompanied alien minors are expected to cross
through the Rio Grande Sector by the end of next year…. If Border
Patrol is overwhelmed, what consideration is being given — and what is
being done — to determine if any of these illegal aliens have criminal
histories or gang affiliations? For example, we know that MS-13, one of
the world’s most notorious international gangs, has strong ties to
several of the Central American countries from which these aliens are
arriving. The administration’s refusal to properly verify that violent
criminals are not among those entering the United States shows an
alarming lack of concern for our homeland’s security. As a nation, we
cannot sit back and allow this policy to continue.

While it is encouraging that Trump is taking the problem of MS-13
more seriously than did his predecessor, the job of reining in and
stopping this violent criminal gang is much more difficult now that they
have had several years to spread across our nation and become more
firmly entrenched.

COLUMBINE SURVIVOR INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO PUSH FOR MORE GUNS, NOT LESS

COLUMBINE SURVIVOR INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO PUSH FOR MORE GUNS,
NOT LESS
BY RAVEN CLABOUGH
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

The Left has been using the victims and families of the Parkland,
Florida, shooting to advocate for more gun control, and in some extreme
cases, to call for an all-out repeal of the Second Amendment. But not
all survivors of mass shootings agree that gun control is the
appropriate response to school shootings. Colorado House Minority Leader
Patrick Neville, a former student of Columbine High School during the
1999 mass shooting, has once again introduced legislation to remove
limitations on concealed carry in K-12 schools.

According to the Washington Times, Neville has introduced
the bill annually since he was elected in 2014, asserting that the
current law “creates a so-called gun free zone in every K-12 public
school,” making students and teachers easy targets.

“This act would allow every law-abiding citizen who holds a concealed
carry permit, issued from their chief law-enforcement officer, the
right to carry concealed in order to defend themselves and most
importantly our children from the worst-case scenarios,” Neville said in
a statement.

Neville’s response to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass
shooting is far different from the typical knee-jerk reaction seen among
the Left and the mainstream media following mass shootings.

“As a former Columbine student who was a sophomore during the
shootings on April 20, 1999, I will do everything in my power to prevent
Colorado families from enduring the hardships my classmates and I faced
that day,” Neville said. “Time and time again we point to the one
common theme with mass shootings: they occur in gun-free zones.”

Neville understands that more guns in the hands of law-abiding
citizens will go a long way in helping to stop would-be mass shooters.
Conservative pundit Ann Coulter observes,
“Thanks to our Second Amendment, the United States has fewer mass
shootings per capita than many other developed countries, including
Norway, France, Switzerland, Finland, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
(And 98 percent of our mass shootings occur in ‘gun-free zones.’)”

But these facts do not fit in with the Left’s narrative about gun
safety and rights. Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro notes that the Left
often resorts to victim identity politics to advance legislation that
would otherwise be unpopular. It has become a regular activity of the
Left to trot out victims of gun violence to make emotional but overly
simplistic pleas about gun control. Nearly all major media outlets seem
to have featured commentary from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
students. Some of the school’s shooting survivors are feeding right into
the Left’s ploys by leading a March for Our Lives rally in Washington,
D.C., on March 24.

The problem, of course, is that while these students are certainly
sympathetic speakers, their impassioned pleas are full of emotion and
devoid of fact. For example, one student, Emma Gonzalez, gave a gun
control speech last
week that was highlighted by CNN in which she argued that it was
“harder to make plans with friends on weekends than to buy an automatic
or semi-automatic weapon,” a statement that is simply untrue.

What’s worse is that these survivors are being manipulated by the
mainstream media and the Left and likely do not even realize it, and any
students who refuse to stick to the Left’s anti-gun narrative are left
behind.

According to Colton Haab, an ROTC student at Stoneman Douglas High
School who helped usher students to safety, Wednesday’s CNN town hall
event on the school shooting entitled “Stand Up: The Students of
Stoneman Douglas Demand Action” was scripted. Haab says he was censored from asking questions other than the ones that were provided by the station.

“CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted,” Haab told WPLG-TV.

Haab explained that he wrote questions that addressed school safety
and wanted to suggest using veterans to help protect schools, but that
was unacceptable to the network.

It was clear that the town hall was overwhelmingly stacked with anti-gun zealots. Two students hand-picked by CNN openly attacked National Rifle Association spokesperson Dana Loesch as a bad mother while moderator Jake Tapper sat in silence.

Using emotional victims to push policy never paves the way for constructive policy debate. Shapiro expounds on this for the Daily Wire:

Good policy is good regardless of timing;
bad policy is bad regardless of timing. But when something horrific
occurs, it’s in the interest of those pushing a related policy to
suggest that those who oppose the policy somehow don’t care enough about
victims. We heard this from gun control advocates after Sandy Hook,
after Pulse, after Virginia Tech, after Columbine — after every mass
shooting. Passion doesn’t make policy good or worthwhile. And injecting
emotional accusations into the process never makes policy — or the
country — better. Usually such accusations merely end with more
heavyhanded government policy that doesn’t actually achieve the end for
which it supposedly aims.

For the same reasons the American Medical Association’s Code of
Medical Ethics states that physicians should not treat themselves or
members of their immediate families in fear that emotions will cloud
their judgment, victims should not be treated as unbiased resources for
policy proposals immediately following the events in which they were
victimized.

INDIANA: PARENTS NO LONGER NEED TO BE NOTIFIED ABOUT RADICAL SEX EDUCATION CURRICULUM

INDIANA: PARENTS NO LONGER NEED TO BE NOTIFIED ABOUT RADICAL SEX EDUCATION CURRICULUM
Lawmakers in Indiana betrayed parents, Christians, and constituents this
week by gutting parental consent requirements before children in
government schools can be exposed to homosexuality, gender confusion,
sex education, and other controversial matters related to “sexuality.”
Parents will not be allowed to even see the materials being used to
sexualize their children. The move sparked an outcry that continues to
grow, though, so the battle is far from over.

The legislation in question, known as Senate Bill 65, originally would
have required that government schools obtain permission from parents
before exposing children to the LGBT agenda and “sexuality.” However,
the Indiana House Education Committee amended the Senate bill this week,
passing the gutted version 8 to 5. Among other schemes, the lawmakers
removed the parental consent requirement, as well as the requirement
that sexuality materials be made available to parents.
