THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The governor of Texas has
signed into law a bill that prevents the government from subpoenaing
copies of sermons or questioning pastors about the content of their
messages.
“Texas law now will be your strength and your sword and your shield,”
Gov. Greg Abbott declared during a ceremony at Grace Church of the
Woodlands. “You will be shielded by any effort by any other government
official in any other part of the state of Texas from having subpoenas
to try to pry into what you’re doing here in your churches.” Senate Bill 24 was
birthed following the 2014 controversy surrounding Houston Mayor Annise
Parker, who had requested copies of sermons and other material from
several area pastors as part of the discovery phase of a lawsuit over a
petition seeking to repeal the city’s “bathroom bill.” As previously reported,
attorneys for Parker, an open lesbian, asked for “all speeches,
presentations, or sermons related to [the bathroom bill], the petition,
Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity…”
A motion was soon filed in turn to stop the city from scrutinizing
the speech of area pastors, which caused Parker’s attorneys to alter
their demands.
The clergy members who were the subject of the city’s discovery
requests then sued Parker for “trampl[ing] on the rights of one million
Houston citizens” through the subpoena requests.
Uproar over the matter spurred lawmakers to present legislation that would prevent such situations in the future.
“A governmental unit may not, in any civil action or other civil or
administrative proceeding to which the governmental unit is a party,
compel the production or disclosure of a written copy or audio or video
recording of a sermon delivered by a religious leader during religious
worship of a religious organization or compel the religious leader to
testify regarding the sermon,” read Senate Bill 24, presented by Sen.
Joan Huffman, R-Houston.
While the bill was signed into law at the governor’s mansion on
Friday, a special ceremony was also held at Grace Church on Sunday, with
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick also attending.
“We got in a situation we had never been in, didn’t want to be in,”
Steve Riggle, the senior pastor, told the Houston Chronicle. “We got our
sermons subpoenaed—which is a difficult position, because you’d sure
like the mayor to read the sermons and to listen to them—but at the same
time, we weren’t about to give them over because of a document that was
given to us in subpoena form. We felt like that was wrong, so we said
no.”
Patrick told those gathered that the bill didn’t arise from a
Democratic or Republican issue, but “a right to keep men out of ladies’
rooms and to not allow boys and girls to shower together in the 10th
grade.”
He further elaborated that the nation is “not split between
Republicans and Democrats, but it’s split between those who believe in
our Savior Jesus Christ and those who are lost like I was once and all
of us were.”
A few residents protested Abbott and Patrick’s appearance at the
church, claiming it violated the “separation of Church and State.”
“It
is to be understood the actual “patriotic” worth of the
CIA’s actions depend upon who sits at the helm (Obama) and the
director of the CIA always is a reflection of the POTUS. Hence we
have John Brennan who you should recall refused to release 28 pages
of the 911 Report because HE claimed it contained inaccurate information”.

Who
is John O. Brennan? Most certainly a globalist, supporter of the Obama
agenda and a man who has worked for the CIA in enough positions for
the past 25 years to write a book. Brennan withdrew his name from
consideration for Director of the CIA in the first Obama administration
over concerns about his support for transferring terror suspects to
countries where they may be tortured while serving under President
George W. Bush. Instead, Obama appointed Brennan Deputy National Security
Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism AND Assistant to
the President, a new position which did not require Senate confirmation.
Placing
Brennan in the position of Dir. of the CIA, has put one of Obama’s
closet and most powerful aides in charge of an agency that has been
transformed by more than a decade of secret wars. Working for Obama
Brennan has:

Overseen the escalation of drone strikes in Pakistan in 2010. • Was the principal architect of the administration’s
secret counter terrorism operations in Yemen. • Became a prominent public spokesman for the
administration, appearing on television after foiled terrorist plots
and giving speeches about the legality and morality of targeted killing. • Brennan denied his use of brutal interrogation
methods and ended up with the prize job for Obama. • After Brennan was sworn into his office
not on a Bible but on a copy of the Constitution rumors came out
he had converted to Muslim

Other nations in Europe seem to be headed in the same direction as

The German parliament is debating a proposal to force
social media platforms to either delete hate speech quickly or risk
hefty fines.
The problems that many critics point out are the vague definitions of
the term “hate speech” and the restrictions that the proposed law may
have on freedom of speech. Justice Minister Heiko Maas disagrees,
arguing it will only help protect freedom of speech in Germany.
“The point of the proposed legislation is that statements that
violate the law must be deleted,” Maas, a Social Democrat, said Friday,
according to Deutsche Welle. “These are not examples of freedom of
speech. They’re attacks on freedom of speech. The worst danger to
freedom of speech is a situation where threats go unpunished.”
Flagrant violations need to be removed within 24 hours while more
complex cases have to be removed within one week, according to the
proposal. Failure to remove posts may result in fines of up to 50
million euros ($56 million dollars).
“Practice shows that not too much, but too little, gets deleted,”
Maas said. “We’re at a crossroads. Should the digital revolution be
allowed to continue to call our state, based on law and order, into
question?”
The Social Democrats’ coalition partners, including Chancellor Angela

In a stunning victory in the war against radical
Islam, state legislators in the Lone Star State passed a version of the
much debated “American Law for American Courts” (ALAC) bill, banning
Muslim Sharia law within Texas.
Sharia is the Islamic religious code governing all aspects life.
It mandates death for nonbelievers, death for adulterers, death for
homosexuals, crucifixion for highway robbers, amputation for petty
theft, and more. Muslim “honor killings” of women and young girls — also a Sharia practice — are occurring regularly in Texas. Read here, and here.
Both houses of the Texas legislature voted in favor of HB 45, the Texas Foreign Law Procedural Protection Act Monday, May 22, and the bill now heads to the governor’s desk for signature.
Infowars
reached out to Pamela Geller of the American Freedom Defense Initiative
(AFDI) for her thoughts on these new developments in Texas.
“The
intention is to stop the aspects of Sharia that contradict American law
from being applied here. This law should accomplish that,” Geller told
Infowars.
“But, the court system is full of Leftist
activist judges who disregard the law and run roughshod over the will of
the people in the service of a globalist, socialist, internationalist
agenda,” she said cautioning that the fight is not over.
Echoing the FBI and other law enforcement authorities,
Geller suggested Texas also “require the mosques to institute programs
teaching young Muslims to reject the al-Qaeda/ISIS view of Islam.”
“The mosques must be monitored,” Geller added.
Mirroring her comments on the gruesome Manchester attack,
Geller pointed out that Sharia is observed not only during terrorist
attacks, but also in the silence of countries hosting the Muslims who
commit these atrocities.
“Sharia is always enforced
after every jihad attack, as the mainstream media (or the enemedia, as I
call it) whitewashes the jihadi motivations and connections of the
perpetrator, and tries to portray him as a lone wolf. Texas is
absolutely doing the right thing, but much more needs to be done,”
Geller remarked.
Women are the main victims of Sharia’s
harsh punishments, and allowing Sharia to coexist alongside Texas law
(or any law) is not compassionate, Geller contends.
“It
isn’t compassionate to women who are thereby subjected to Sharia’s
discriminatory regulations regarding wife-beating, polygamy, divorce,
inheritance, and testimony,” Geller stated.

ALAC In Texas: An Uphill Fight
Muslim
activists vocally opposed ALAC legislation in the last two sessions,
culminating in a giant protest on the steps of the state capitol
building, where representatives from the terrorist-linked Council on
American Islamic Relations (CAIR) declared they were “above” U.S. law.
“If
we are practicing Muslims, we are above the law of the land,” said
Mustafa Carroll, executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth CAIR
branch, at the Austin protest.
Protest organizers cited
“the recent House and Senate bill proposals involving the implementation
of ‘anti-Sharia’ legislation, where the First Amendment rights and
freedoms of Muslims would ultimately be hindered.”
“Islam
isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become
dominant” and the Quran “should be the highest authority in America, and
Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.”
The
protesters admitted the purpose of their efforts was to defend Sharia.
“We tried to downplay Sharia, because we didn’t want to give the other
side any excitement for being here,” Carroll said.
The same CAIR operative is on record defending Hamas, still classified by the U.S. as a terrorist group.
“I
think you can only blame Hamas for so long. It takes two to tango. And I
think, you know, that what we’ve heard for a number of years is this
terrorist, terrorist, terrorist, terrorist, Hamas, Hamas, Hamas, was not
just Hamas,” Carroll said.
Rev. Ronnie C. Lister, a Nation of Islam radical, also spoke at Muslim Capitol Day:
“This
country belongs to you. This state house is your state house. The
police department is your police department,” he told the crowd. “This
land is your land. … God is on your side … this is your house. [It] does
not belong to the Republicans. It does not belong to the Democrats. It
does not belong to just Americans. It belongs to all of us!

Manchester bomber Salman Abedi apparently wasn’t the only
member of his family to harbor extremist views as Libyan officials
arrested the suicide bomber’s father and two brothers, and uncovered
what investigators called a plot for a new attack.
Hashim Abedi, who was born in 1997, was arrested in Tripoli on
Wednesday evening by the Libyan counter-terrorism force Rada on
suspicion of links to the Islamic State, and was planning a new attack
on the Libyan capital, a government spokesman told Reuters on Wednesday.
The father of the bomber was arrested in Tripoli on Wednesday, a
Libyan security spokesman told The Associated Press. The father, Ramadan
Abedi, had said another brother of the bomber, Ismail, was arrested
Tuesday.
Salman’s mother, Samia Tabbal, is belived to have returned to Libya,
while the Facebook profile for his sister, Jomana, suggests that she
still lives in Manchester. The mother was described in an article by the Guardian as a “very nice woman” who taught a friend’s daughter to read the Quran.
Earlier Abdel-Basit Haroun, a former security official in Libya, told
The Associated Press Wednesday that he personally knew Ramadan Abedi,
the father of Salman Abedi, and that the elder Abedi was a member of the
Libyan Islamic Fighting Group in the 1990s. The group had links to Al
Qaeda.
Although the LIFG disbanded, Haroun said the father belongs to the
Salafi Jihadi movement, the most extreme sect of Salafism and from which
Al Qaeda and the Islamic State group hail. Haroun added that Abedi,
also known as Abu Ismail, had returned to the Libyan capital of Tripoli.
The LIFG was founded in 1995, and was involved in attempts to
assassinate then-Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi as well as violent
clashes with Benghazi police. In 2002, a senior LIFG commander, Anas
al-Libi, who also was a companion of Al Qaeda founder Usama bin Laden,
was detained by U.S. forces for his role in the 1998 bombings of the
American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, which killed more than 200
people.
The group also was involved in the bloody riots at Abu Salim prison near Benghazi in 1996 that killed more than 1,200 prisoners.
The LIFG reportedly teamed up with the Moroccan Islamic Combatant
Group in planning the May 2003 bombings in Casablanca, Morocco, that
killed more than 40 people and injured more than 100. The group also has
been linked to the 2004 attacks in Madrid that killed 194 people.
Ramadan Abedi escaped Tripoli in 1993 after Qaddafi’s security
authorities issued an arrest warrant and eventually sought political
asylum in Britain. The elder Abedi first immigrated to London before
settling in the Whalley Range area of south Manchester, where they had
lived for at least a decade.

members living in exile, including Abd al-Baset Azzouz – an expert
bomb-maker who left Manchester to run a terrorist network in eastern
Libya overseen by Ayman al-Zawahiri, Usama bin Laden’s successor as
leader of Al Qaeda. Media in the United Kingdom reported in 2014 that Azzouz had 200 to 300 militants under his control.
In a telephone interview from Tripoli, Ramadan Abedi — who is now the
administrative manager of the Central Security force in the Libyan
capital — denied to The Associated Press that his son is linked to any
militant group or the suicide bombing that killed 22 people.

“Chained to the Rhythm” singer suggested that people “unite” following

A suspected suicide bomber, identified as Salman Abedi, detonated
what is believed to be a nail bomb as concert-goers were exiting the
Manchester Arena. The attack took the lives of at least 22 people, many
of them children, and wounded at least 59 more.

Major media touts a vast chasm between ideologies of the leader of
the free world and the leader of the Catholic world. But in President
Donald Trump’s first meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican on
Wednesday, both leaders tempered their differences with rhetoric worthy
of subtle UN diplomats. The pontiff wanted to talk about climate change;
the president wanted to discuss combating terrorism. In the end, they
settled on ambiguous “fundamental values” to “promote human rights,
combat human suffering, and protect religious freedom,” as relayed in a
White House press release
immediately following the half-hour private audience. Trump did appear
to score a few Francis points with his pledge of $300 million of U.S.
taxpayer dollars for “anti-famine” foreign aid in countries such as
Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia and Nigeria.
Overall, the pope seemed reserved. He returned Trump’s effusive
greeting and friendly “It’s an honor to meet you” with uncharacteristic
detachment and a rather awkward welcome, prompting one reporter to comment that this somber Francis did not “exude his usual warmth and cheerfulness,” and another to remark
that the pontiff looked “for all the world like he’d rather be
literally anywhere else but in that room with that man.”Though the Holy

discussions between Trump and the Holy Father as “cordial,” Pope
Francis certainly reserved his toothiest grins for First Lady Melania
Trump, who wore a black lace mantilla and long-sleeved black dress, the
traditional garb for women in private audience with the pontiff.
Perhaps Francis’ conduct was influenced by the memory of his comments
questioning Trump’s Christianity during the presidential campaign, when
he said (from inside the Vatican walls) that anyone who wants to build
walls rather than bridges is “not Christian,” referencing Trump’s
proposal to combat illegal immigration with a wall along the Mexican
border. Then-candidate Trump, a Presbyterian, countered Francis’ attack
as “disgraceful.” After the election, Francis compared Trump’s victory
to the rise of Nazism in Germany. The two men also disagree on proper
ways to address the environment, poverty, and international relations.
However, a gentler manner accompanied the pope’s face-to-face
comments Wednesday as he addressed his pet issues of climate change and
world peace, though Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later told
reporters that “immigration itself did not come up.” He said that
instead, Francis presented Trump with a copy of his influential and
controversial encyclical on the environment,
which argues that humans are destroying the earth, and calls radical
environmentalism a moral imperative. Vatican Secretary of State Pietro
Parolin also urged Trump to maintain U.S. commitment to the Paris climate agreement,
despite his campaign promise to pull out of that UN treaty. Tillerson
said the president intends to make a final decision upon his return home
after this nine day, multi-nation tour.
Francis also gave Trump copies of his encyclicals Evangelii Gaudium and Amoris Laetitia. The former denounces market-based capitalism, and the latter has caused

granite from the MLK memorial in Washington, D.C., and a bronze
sculpture that the White House said represents “hope for a peaceful
tomorrow.” When Francis presented Trump with a large medallion of an
olive branch and said, “I give this to you so that you can be an
instrument of peace,” Trump replied, “We can use peace.”
Neither the White House nor the Vatican has issued statements
detailing the private conversation between Francis and Trump, but both
press offices expressed
satisfaction “for the good existing bilateral relations between the
Holy See and the United States of America.” When the president left, he
told the pope, “Thank you. I won’t forget what you said.” Afterwards,
Trump wrote on Twitter: “Honor of a lifetime to meet His Holiness Pope
Francis. I leave the Vatican more determined than ever to pursue PEACE
in our world.”
Does this mean that Trump has had a conversion to the socialistic
aims Pope Francis seems to embrace? Probably not. Michele Dunne of the
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington told Catholic News Service that “while they are likely to differ again in the future, today’s meeting poured balm on a wounded relationship.”

The Egyptian president, al-Sisi, gave President Trump the
ultimate compliment yesterday. He said, “Mr. President, let me express
our appreciation and respect. Let me say you have a unique personality
that is capable of doing the impossible.” (Can you imagine the angst our American Socialist media is feeling?!)
In watching all the speeches and pomp and ceremony, I was very proud
of our President, and proud for America. For the first time in decades,
I’m seeing foreign dignitaries respect America’s leader, and truly like
him. Maybe it’s just politics, but I don’t think so. Despite all the
hatred spewed by our media, the democrats and the neo-cons, this
President can and will accomplish great things.
It is suffocating living in America where freedom of speech is
oppressed in the name of hatred for our President because he won the
election. The disrespect and sedition fomented by the media, by
Hollywood, by commentators is a sign of the disintegration of decency in
our culture. Is it even possible to get back to the basics of civility
with each other? The societal decay is sadly so very evident, that I
highly doubt it. I’ve even experienced this lack of civility from a
Hillary supporting neighbor we’ve been friends with for 30 years.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia
It refreshing to see the president away from home, where he is
treated well. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi led the way in
confronting Islamic terrorism. He exiled the Muslim Brotherhood and
formed a coalition of Arab nations to confront the extremist elements
promoting violence. King Abdullah III of Jordan joined in 2014; and
that eventually led to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States uniting and
forming an anti-extremism Arab coalition.
In 2015, King Salman of Saudi Arabia took up the cause for peace, and this has resulted in the Arab Islamic American Summit.
On Saturday, the 20th of May, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman
placed the King Abdulaziz al Saud Collar around President Trump’s neck
during a ceremony in the country’s capital. The gold medallion is
considered the kingdom’s highest civilian honor.
Trump received the medal during a ceremony at the Royal Court in
Riyadh shortly after he arrived in Saudi Arabia for his first foreign
trip as president.

first son-in-law came out of Iran when the Shah was still in power, and
they loved him and being westernized. When his parents visited America,
after the Shah had died, if I mentioned Khomeni’s name, they’d
immediately say, “Morte, Morte,” meaning “death.” They hated him.
The President didn’t mince words when he spoke about eliminating
Islamic terrorism and murderous acts against Jews and Christians.
There is still much work to be done. That
means honestly confronting the crisis of Islamic extremism and the
Islamists and Islamic terror of all kinds. We must stop what they’re
doing to inspire, because they do nothing to inspire but kill. Religious
leaders must make this absolutely clear. Barbarism will deliver you no
glory. Piety to evil will bring you no dignity. If you choose the path
of terror, your life will be empty, your life will be brief, and your
soul will be fully condemned. And political leaders must speak out to
affirm the same idea. Heroes don’t kill innocents. They save them.
This is a battle between barbaric
criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all
religions who seek to protect it.
This is a battle between Good and Evil.
Unfortunately, Saudi Arabia may well obtain a massive weapons arsenal
and missile defense system in a $110 billion deal pushed by H.R. McMaster, Gary Cohn, and Dina Habib Powell.
Under this arrangement, the Saudis will obtain technology to build
civilian nuclear reactors. President Trump has expressed strong
skepticism of this deal.
The Grace of our First Lady Wins Israeli Fans
The very lovely and thoughtful first lady won many fans with her kindness to Nechama Rivlin, President Rivlin’s wife.
Here is the story from my dear friend in Israel:
The most memorable moment from this trip, to me, was that moment at the entrance to the house of President Rivlin.
Nechama Rivlin, President Rivlin’s wife,
welcomed the First Lady Melania Trump at the door. As they were about to
walk inside, Nechama whispered to Melania that she will do her best to
catch up with the walking pace, but she might be a bit slower because of
her medical condition which requires her to use an oxygen tank. Melania
took her hand, looked at her and said, “We’ll walk at any pace you
choose.” And so, they walked, slowly, gracefully and proudly, hand in
hand.
That is the moment I choose to cherish. That silent gesture has neither
any political significance nor any colorful tone to it, but it is
everything.
It is the hope we yearn for when we speak of peace;
It is the kindness we wish to protect when we speak of defeating terror;
It is the dignity we want to teach when we speak of stopping hate;
It is the friendship we pray for when we speak of our unbreakable bond;
In other words, this gesture encompasses everything that is good, kind and human.
The Trumps and Netanyahus
It is quite obvious these two leaders and their wives are very
affectionate friends. Benjamin Netanyahu is a totally different man
than he was with Barack Hussein Obama.
I don’t remember which trip it was that Netanyahu made to the Obama
White House, but I do remember that Obama was rude, offensive,
antagonistic and proper protocol, which we rarely saw from Hussein, was
totally defunct. The former President even made Netanyahu use the rear
entrance to the White House…such poor taste was evident with an ally we
desperately need in the Middle East. I was appalled and embarrassed and
angry at what was done to our ally.
Remember when Netanyahu came to the United States and addressed the joint session of Congress on the danger of the American-Iran deal?
That infuriated Obama. He tried to get that speech cancelled but he
couldn’t because the Speaker of the House is who extends such
invitations. I loved that speech, it was phenomenal and I’m sure
General Flynn can validate Netanyahu’s worries.
Limbaugh reminded us of another horrible slight by Obama to Prime Minister Netanyahu. He told this story:
Obama and Netanyahu and their various
aides were working on something, and abruptly Obama got up and said to
Netanyahu, “I’m leaving. I have to go have dinner with my family. You
stay here. You keep working on this, and I’ll come back afterwards and
see where you are.” The White House was very proud of that. They made
sure that news got out. Disrespecting the prime minister of Israel? That
was a big plus for Obama with his buddies around the world and his
lunatic Democrat base.
Obama
may have felt big when he did this, but he made America small. Now we
have a President who we can once again be proud of as he travels the
globe and represents the United States and her people.
President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
delivered remarks to the media prior to dinner together at the residence
of Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu.
The protocol was one of ease and great friendship, and this is
historic for our country as is the fact that our president was the first
to make a trip to the Western wall, one of the holiest sites in
Judaism.
Netanyahu said he would go with President Trump to the wall, but our
President said he did not want it to be a media event, he wished to pay
respects alone.
Our President also visited the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. This was
a great day for these two countries who are such great allies.

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered remarks to the

We want you to know how much we
appreciate the change in American policy on Iran which you enunciated so

American leadership in the Middle East….I look forward to working
closely with you to confront the dangers we face together in this
violent and volatile Middle East.
I believe that together we can roll back
Iran’s march of aggression and terror in this region and we can thwart
Iran’s unbridled ambition to become a nuclear weapon state. I also look
forward to working closely with you to advance peace in our region
because you have noted so succinctly that common dangers and turning
former enemies into partners, and that’s where we see something new and potentially something very promising.
It won’t be simple, but for the first
time in many years, and Mr. President, for the first time in my
lifetime, I see a real hope for change, (not the change of former
President Obama). The Arab leaders who you met yesterday could help
change the atmosphere and they could help create the conditions for a
realistic peace. These are all great signs on your historic visit.
It’s a visit that I think has echoed down the ages because the great
Abraham Lincoln is reported to have said that there was no city on earth
that he so much desired to see as Jerusalem. Well, Mr. President,
Donald, there’s no city on earth where you are more welcome than right
here with us in Jerusalem. Welcome to Jerusalem! Welcome to Israel!
Our President and First Lady at Yad Vashem
Yad Vashem is Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Established in 1953, Yad Vashem is on the western slope of Mount Herzl, also known as the Mount of Remembrance.
It is dedicated to preserving the memory of the dead; honoring Jews who fought against their Nazi oppressors and Gentiles who selflessly aided Jews in need; and researching the phenomenon of the Holocaust in particular and genocide in general, with the aim of avoiding such events in the future.
Conclusion
The American media has called our President incompetent, incapable,
reckless and so dangerous and stupid and uninformed and ill-prepared
that he could undo all of the great accomplishments of every president
before him and do it in record time. But that’s not what’s happening is
it!? Instead, the foreign leaders are singing President Trump’s
praises.
The Donald Trump of the media would have you believe everything
negative they spew about our President, but the man who is representing
America is truly the epitome of a great leader.
We now have a president who is respected by foreign leaders, and I
thank God for him, and would ask everyone to pray for our President, for
guidance, wisdom, and protection.

The director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), “former” Communist Party operative Irina Bokova (shown),
is facing what appears to be an internal rebellion among the
controversial UN organ’s own staff members. Among other concerns, more
than 150 employees of UNESCO who spoke out portrayed Bokova as an
out-of-control and deeply corrupt official who has been abusing the
organization for her own personal benefit since she got there. And now,
she is apparently working to install a friendly successor — preferably
one loyal to a communist regime — to ensure that her alleged
mismanagement and abuse of power are not exposed. But the truth is
coming out anyway.
In a May 5 letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres,
159 current and former UNESCO staffers said that Bokova must either
resign or be fired from her post. Blasting what they said were Bokova’s
many personal and professional failings — not to mention her well-known
background with the mass-murdering Bulgarian Communist Party — the UN
employees also said she must be prevented from continuing to travel
around the globe wasting the organization’s scarce resources, “creating
chaos,” and appointing top managers who lack basic skills and
qualifications. If she refuses to resign, “she should be dismissed
immediately by the Governing bodies of UNESCO for major diplomatic and
managerial errors,” said the letter, which was also sent to the prime
minister and president of Bulgaria.
On top of that, the employees called for internal and external
investigations of Bokova and dozens of her “collaborators.” “Taxpayers
deserve to know where and how UNESCO money was used over the last 4
years,” explained the letter to UN chief Guterres, who sources say has
received it. “We therefore appeal to the UNSG, to the internal and to
the external UNESCO auditors for a rapid investigation of Bokova’s
decisions on using UNESCO funds over that period. The findings must be
made public, then discussed by the Executive Board in order to trigger
off the accountability and impeachment procedure.” The signatories also
pointed to comments made by government ambassadors to UNESCO, including
Arab and European officials, highlighting problems at the UN agency.
UNESCO employees were obviously pleased with that. “Under the
leadership of one of the contesters for the UNSG position, the former
communist regime activist Ms. Irina Bokova, who luckily for the entire
world did not get the job, our wonderful and deeply cherished
Organization is totally agonizing,” they wrote. “Ms. Bokova is a
disastrous Director-General, a mean human being and we are all happy
that you won over her. After destroying UNESCO, she could have been in a
position to dismantle the UN. The diplomatic battle over the UNSG
position exposed the UNESCO Director General and transparently
demonstrated her managerial ineptitude and total lack of moral values to
lead UNESCO.”
Among the many criticisms of Bokova outlined by the outraged UN
agency staffers was her enabling of an anti-Israel resolution
downplaying the Jewish people’s links to the Temple Mount, the Western
Wall, and other religious sites in Jerusalem. “By her absence from the
usual diplomatic process organized inside UNESCO that all previous
Directors Generals led themselves, by her time spent on campaigning
instead of working at UNESCO, by her interest directed only towards her
personal ambition, she greatly contributed to this outcome that
legitimately raises Israel’s and U.S. ire,” they wrote. “The Russian
‘Red Princess’ is the only DG that proved capable to rile up
simultaneously both Arab countries and Israel and its supporters.”
Also sparking outrage among agency staffers was Bokova’s personal
role in admitting the “State of Palestine” to the UN agency as a
full-fledged member state, an act that immediately triggered a statutory
ban on U.S. funding of UNESCO. That blow resulted in a loss of about a
fourth of UNESCO’s budget. Next, in an apparent effort to please the
mass-murdering Communist Chinese dictatorship — which held a key vote on
the UN Security Council as she was seeking the UN’s top job — Bokova
alienated the Japanese government, another one of UNESCO’s top
financiers. According to the letter, Bokova’s antics have resulted in
governments refusing to hand over some $750 million that they otherwise
would have paid to UNESCO.
Bokova’s use and abuse of UNESCO resources to pursue her own
ambitions — namely, the highest UN post — also came under fire from
staffers. They noted that in seeking the appointment, she named UNESCO
deputies from four of the five permanent members of the Security Council
“in total disregard for normal practices and with no consideration for
qualifications and competences.” They also accused Bokova of “stealing
funds” from programs aimed at promoting girls’ education, the safety of
journalists, and free speech so she could travel around the world
campaigning for the position of UN secretary-general. In all, they said,
more than $3 million were “effectively stolen” from priority UNESCO
activities. “Only for that proven deed she should be asked to resign
immediately,” they said.
Along with that, she “enhanced bad practices within the organization
such as corruption and traffic of influence,” the staffers and their
representatives wrote. “Bokova is neither respected nor appreciated by
UNESCO’s staff who considers her unfair, unreliable and selfish,” the
more than 150 current and former UNESCO employees, under the banner of
“Save UNESCO,” said in the letter. “Also, using the private jets of
presidents for her travels is not passive but active corruption.” Other
examples of malfeasance highlighted in the document include Bokova’s
refusal to disclose her financial declaration as other UN high officials
do, preventing UNESCO’s Ethics Office from investigating her financial
situation, lying on her CV to inflate her credentials, and more.
In an exclusive story published in January, this magazine reported
on insiders within the organization trying to blow the whistle on
widespread internal corruption, nepotism, and more. Multiple
governments, including many of UNESCO’s top donors, were fleeing the
organization, with several, including the United Kingdom, issuing
scathing criticism of UNESCO and its leadership. Officials with UNESCO
called for an investigation by an external auditor to sort out the
facts. The Bulgarian watchdog group Bivol conducted an investigation and
found that Bokova’s luxury properties across multiple countries could
not be accounted for with her taxpayer-funded salary, even when adding
in her husband’s tax-funded salary.
On her way out the door, though, with her term ending later this year, UNESCO sources told The New American
at the time that Chinese Communist agent Qian Tang, who leads UNESCO’s
“education sector,” was seen as a good candidate for the job by Bokova.
He is now among the finalists, along with a number of candidates from
communist and Islamic governments such as Vietnam, Qatar, Egypt,
Azerbaijan, and Iraq. Bokova is known to be close to the strongman
ruling Azerbaijan, which has attracted scrutiny from members of the U.S.
Congress. There is also said to be an effort to pack the agency’s
leadership — the top job, the executive board, and the president of the
general conference — with Islamic officials. Either way, the goal is to
ensure that no serious investigations occur after she leaves office.
A well-informed senior UNESCO official who requested anonymity to speak freely — after all, the UN has a long and sordid history of persecuting whistleblowers
— outlined the plot. “Bokova is desperately trying to push for a
successor from a friendly country [government],” the source told The New American
in an interview. “At least three of the candidates — Egypt,
Azerbaijan, and China — and possibly Vietnam, are said to have been
thrown in the game by Bokova in order to get a successor who would not
touch her dirt. Promises have been made to all those candidates. So she
is playing these people, too, and in full knowledge that they are not
suitable for the post she is nonetheless pushing for their candidacies.
The Chinese candidate tops this game.”
The source also said that Guterres reacted to the letter by giving
Bokova advice on how to avoid investigation. According to the source,
Guterres is worried about doing anything that might be perceived as
“revenge” against his leading competitor for the top UN post. However,
he also is said to be concerned about allowing the scandals to pass
without consequences — especially with the UN facing growing scrutiny in
the media and among U.S. lawmakers for corruption, impunity, and more.
Indeed, despite their differences, Guterres and Bokova share quite a bit
in common. Bokova’s renamed Bulgarian Communist Party, which murdered
hundreds of thousands of innocent people over its history, is a member
in good standing of the Socialist International, which Guterres led
prior to taking his current job at the UN.
UNESCO has a long history of being under the control of communists,
corruptocrats, mass murderers, tyrants, and other extremists. Indeed,
the extremism was so outrageous that President Ronald Reagan withdrew
from UNESCO entirely. The agency continues to push its radical
ideological agenda on children worldwide, most recently issuing a report demanding more globalist and socialist indoctrination of children via textbooks.
It remains unclear how the Trump administration intends to deal with
UNESCO, which remains ineligible for U.S. funding under federal law.
Unless Bokova resigns or is removed from her post, she will remain on
the job until November, at which point the next director-general will
take over. The selection of the next leader is currently ongoing.
Sources told The New American that the letter would likely be
released publicly in the coming weeks, especially if no efforts are made
to rein in Bokova’s alleged reign of criminality and corruption. Bokova
has refused to respond to repeated requests for comment from The New American
magazine. Bulgarian officials who received the letter have not
commented either. But one thing is certain: UNESCO and its leadership
are far from unique within the increasingly corrupt and lawless UN.
