Fellowship with darkness is no stranger to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. It was the president of this Southern Baptist seminary, Paige Patterson, that once enrolled a practicing Muslim into the seminary. It seems as though this seminary prides itself on its diversity–you know, the 2 Corinthians 6:14 (ESV) kind that Paul warns against:
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?
On October 27, 2016, a famous TV star will be carted in to address the chapel at Southwestern. Reverend Alan Robertson, known for his appearances on Duck Dynasty as the clan’s pastor, will be available to proclaim his version of the Gospel to the students. Alan Robertson and the Duck Dynasty clan are members of White’s Ferry Road Church (WFR). White’s Ferry Road Church is a part of the Church of Christ denomination which arose out of the restoration movement over a century ago. The Church of Christ denomination has long held to the heresy of baptismal justification–that the act of baptism is essential to salvation. According to WFR’s statement of faith found on their website, they believe the following regarding salvation:
WE BELIEVE that salvation is by grace through faith in the gospel. God showed us His grace through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. It is that message that calls people to believe the gospel and its power to save, turn from their sins, confess Jesus as Lord, and be immersed in water, reenacting the death, burial and resurrection. This is the message that was preached in the first century beginning with Acts 2 and how the people responded to this message.
The denomination’s statement of faith affirms the belief in the necessity of salvation by faith and baptism. Further, you can also see a video of Phil Robertson, another leading member of the Duck Dynasty clan, and an elder at WFR Church, explain the church’s belief regarding baptism confirming its necessity for salvation.
You might ask, “what’s the harm here?” We’re sure the majority of students at Southwestern Seminary would agree that baptism has no power to save and that the belief in the necessity of baptism for salvation is, in essence, a denial of Christ’s finished work on the cross–a damnable heresy. The bigger question, however, remains unanswered: what fellowship has light with darkness?
What could possibly be the benefit of bringing in Alan Robertson, a man who clearly denies the saving power of Christ’s finished work on the cross, to address the students at a Southern Baptist Seminary? Are they bringing him in to debate the merits of his false Gospel, and expose his heresies? Unlikely. The likely reason is this: it attracts people.
Let’s just be real for a moment, shall we? Paige Patterson knows full well that Alan Robertson believes in baptismal justification. He also knows that this false gospel has no power to save. But I suspect he also believes that these unfortunate facts do not outweigh the perceived benefits of attracting large amounts of professing Christians. By bringing in a conservative television hero, the seminary can say “hey, look at us. We’re relevant, we’re cool, join us, send us money.”
You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. – James 4:4 (ESV)

NANCY LEIGH (DEMOSS) WOLGEMUTH MIXES PAGAN WITCHCRAFT CIRCLE-MAKING WITH CHRISTIANITY

NANCY LEIGH DEMOSS “HEARTS REVIVED”, BUT AT WHAT PRICE? A VENEER OF CHRISTIANITY HIDING SPIRITUAL FORMATION DISCIPLINES, CONTEMPLATIVE MYSTICISM & WITCHCRAFT?

NANCY LEIGH (DEMOSS) WOLGEMUTH MIXES PAGAN WITCHCRAFT CIRCLE-MAKING
WITH CHRISTIANITY
BY JEFF MAPLES
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

One of the most basic devices used in ancient pagan spirituality is the “circle of protection.” You find it everywhere from the Eastern mystery religions to modern witchcraft. The circle of protection was commonly used in old Gypsy magic, as it was thought to create an impenetrable barrier of protection around those in which it was created.
This “magic” circle, spiritual in nature, could be something physical, such as lines drawn in the dirt or sand, or even a sprinkling of salt. But they could also be imaginary. On page 43 of Gypsy Magic: A Romany Book of Spells, Charms, and Fortune-Telling by Patrinella Cooper, she says
A similar exercise can be done at any time when you are feeling uneasy or before you go to sleep at night. Visualise the blue line of fire. In your mind’s eye, slowly draw its vibrant protective beam around yourself, your bed, or your property. Try to imagine every detail of its path until it finally closes in a protective circle.
Creating a circular boundary is an ancient form of spiritual protection. The space within the circle becomes consecrated ground. The circle itself becomes a barrier keeping all unwelcomed things at bay.
The use of this protective circle and other forms of witchcraft have been an integral part of Gypsy spiritual life and culture since the earliest foundations. It’s quite common for cultural traditions to be carried over from generation to generation, even when other religions, including Christianity, become an accepted or even prominent expression of spirituality. One famous Gypsy from the late 19th century and early 20th century, named Rodney “Gipsy” Smith, is widely regarded as a great Christian evangelist and revivalist from England. The practice of integrating the Gypsy witchcraft circle of protection into Christianity is widely attributed to Smith. When asked of Smith how to start a revival, he replied:
Find a piece of chalk, and find an empty room. Go into that room and shut the door. Draw a circle on the floor with that chalk, kneel down in that circle, and ask God to start revival right there.
Of course, this practice of circle-making can be found nowhere in Scripture. This is purely a pagan practice that Mr. Smith adapted from his cultural upbringing to fit with his newly found Christianity. So does this practice of circle-making by Mr. Smith really have anything to do with the ancient Pagan circles of the Gypsies?
Perhaps the most prominent figure in modern day evangelicalism who promotes the practice of “prayer circles” is Mark Batterson. Batterson attempts to trace his practice of circle-making back to Gipsy Smith. Batterson writes:
The goal of Draw the Circle: The 40-Day Prayer Challenge is to help readers establish a daily prayer habit with a daily dose of prayer inspiration.  It picks up where The Circle Maker left off, with the story of Gipsy Smith. Then it shares new stories and new learnings in prayer that will inspire you to dream big, pray hard, and think long!
Batterson also writes in an articleSeven Prayer Circles for Parents,
In Praying Circles Around The Lives of Your Children I share seven tips, seven circles. They range from praying a hedge of protection around your kids to making prayer lists.
So here we can see that regardless of how Mr. Smith himself intended to use his “prayer circle,” Mark Batterson has interpreted it the same way the ancient Pagans and Gypsies have done. He sees the circle as not only a symbol to ask God for “revival,” but as a device for spiritual protection. The practice of circle-making and praying circles (or hedges) of protection are wildly unbiblical ideas and completely foreign to the context of Scripture. (For more on this, I would suggest Jim Osman’s book, Truth or Territory)
Sadly this witchcraft circle-making heresy has crept its way into orthodox evangelical circles (no pun intended) through the likes of men like Batterson and former Southern Baptist president, Ronnie Floyd. But another prominent figure who is promoting this junk is Nancy Leigh (DeMoss) Wolgemuth. A very popular women’s prayer event, CryOut, is led by DeMoss, and the event centers around this unbiblical form of pagan prayer. DeMoss, as well, attributes her practice of circle-making to Gipsy Smith, as she says,
Gipsy Smith was a nineteenth-century revivalist who did something unusual when he came to a new town. He’d stop on the outskirts and draw a circle in the dirt. Then he would stand inside that circle and say, “O God, please send a revival to this town, and let it begin inside this circle.”
It won’t do much good for me to ask God to convict the world around me of sin if there’s unconfessed sin in my own heart. The first step toward revival is to ask God to show us our sin and repent.
Would you ask God to revive His people? Would you let the Holy Spirit draw a circle within your own heart? Then say, “Lord, I long for You to send a revival to my nation, my church, my marriage, and my children. But Lord, would You first start a revival inside this circle? Let it begin in me.”
DeMoss also turns her listeners of her radio program to a known false teacher and promoter of pagan mysticism, Richard Foster. Foster is one of the founders of the Spiritual Formation movement, a movement whose central disciplines revolve around contemplative prayer and other forms of Eastern mysticism.
While she claims that her (unbiblical) practice is rooted in Christianity and is merely symbolic of the revival that we should pray for in our hearts, she is clearly misguided on what are acceptable forms of prayer and worship in the eyes of God. Has she forgotten in Exodus 32, when Aaron commanded the Israelites to remove the gold jewelry from their bodies and fashion a golden calf out of it? He proclaimed, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.” (Exodus 32:5) Even though Aaron believed that he was doing this for the Lord, the Lord had clearly set guidelines for what he found acceptable as worship, and Aaron and the Israelites ignored. God’s wrath was against them.
Does Nancy Leigh DeMoss really believe that God is okay with her promoting and practicing spiritual paganism and calling it Christian? God has not given grounds or precedent to do this. Yet, she is opening up the doors of witchcraft and demonic influences to her followers by pushing this practice. Does she think she’s found a new way to pray for revival–a way that God didn’t already think of? Does she think that this Eastern mysticism-influenced form of prayer will be somehow more effective than the methods God has laid out for us in Scripture?
Be very careful of who you follow, whose books you read, and whose prayer conferences you attend. Test everything against Scripture to see if they are of God (1 Thessalonians 5:21). And please, do your research, so that you can’t be led astray (2 Tim 2:15).
take care that you be not ensnared to follow them, after they have been destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods?—that I also may do the same.’ – Deuteronomy 12:30

N.Y. BOMBER TIED TO CIA’S AL-AWLAKI

N.Y. Bomber Tied to CIA's al-Awlaki
BY CLIFFORD CUNNINGHAM
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

Questions surround NY bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami’s manifesto praising known CIA-asset Anwar al-Awlaki as well as numerous visits to Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A manifesto found on Rahami made mention of the Boston Marathon Bombing, as well as Yemeni-American cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was reportedly killed by a US drone strike in Yemen.
al-Awlaki, a known CIA and FBI asset who dined at the Pentagon shortly after 9/11, directly inspired the Chattanooga shooter, the Ft. Hood shooter, the underwear bomber and the Charlie Hebdo terrorists.
“American-born cleric al-Awlaki’s role as a key figure in almost every recent terror plot targeting the United States and Canada, coupled with his visit to the Pentagon, only confirms our long stated position that al-Awlaki is a chief terrorist patsy-handler for the CIA – he is the federal government’s premier false flag agent,” wrote Paul Joseph Watson.
Rahami’s high school girlfriend, with whom he has a child, expressedsurprise over his involvement in the bombings, despite prior comments denouncing American culture and homosexuality.
“I never thought he would do something like this. I think he was brainwashed,” said the woman, identified only as Maria.
A U.S. official said Rahami made at least three months-long trips to Afghanistan and Pakistan since 2014. During one trip to Pakistan in 2011, Rahami reportedly visited Quetta, a hotbed of Taliban activity.
One of his friends noted that, upon returning from one of the trips, Rahami sported a beard and traditional Muslim robes; he reportedly began praying regularly in the back of his family’s fried chicken restaurant in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
“It’s like he was a completely different person,” said Flee Jones, a childhood friend of Rahami. “He got serious and completely closed off.”
Rahami met his wife in Pakistan, and procured a visa for her to come to the United States in 2012. Law enforcement officials are now looking to speak to the wife, who seemingly fled the United States to Pakistan, via the United Arab Emirates, just a few days before the attacks.

NY jihad bomber asked Congressmen for help to bring wife to US; wife left country days before jihad bombing

Maybe she is spending time with the Orlando jihad murderer’s wife. The father of the shooter should be questioned before he, too, vanishes. Meanwhile, the fact that the jihad bomber sought help from a Congressman to get his wife here is yet another illustration of how jihadis manipulate the system for their own advantage. The immigration system is in drastic need not just of reform, but of a total overhaul.
“Chelsea bombing suspect’s wife left US days before attack,” by Jamie Schram, Tina Moore and Yaron Steinbuch, New York Post, September 20, 2016:
The wife of the Afghan immigrant suspected in the New York and New Jersey bombings left the US for Pakistan just a few days before the attacks, according to reports.
The woman, who has not been named, has been intercepted by authorities in the United Arab Emirates, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Officials are working with authorities in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to question her about what she knew about her husband’s plans, a law enforcement source told CNN.
Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized US citizen, made at least three months-long trips to Pakistan and Afghanistan since 2014, officials said.
He stayed in Pakistan for a year between April 2013 and March 2014, spending time in a Taliban stronghold, CNN reported.
Rahami has clammed up and is refusing to cooperate with authorities, a source told The Post.
“We are looking into who may have helped him in training, with money” and with other means, the source said. “His family is being looked at, too.”
FBI Assistant Director William Sweeney said there was “no indication” of an active terror cell in the New York area — but evidence suggests Rahami was not acting alone, sources told CNN….
O’Neill said the bombing had all the hallmarks of “an act of terror.”…
Rep. Albio Sires (D-NJ) said Monday that Rahami contacted his office from Pakistan in 2014 seeking help because his pregnant wife had an expired Pakistani passport.
“He wanted his wife to come from Pakistan,” Sires told MSNBC. “At the time she was pregnant and in Pakistan. They told her that she could not come over until she had the baby, because she had to get a visa for the baby.”…

Ahmad Khan Rahami's Own Father Knew He Was A Terrorist. Why didn’t the FBI?

Father of NYC jihad bomber called FBI on his son in 2014; Marine says father was jihadi in Afghanistan

BY ROBERT SPENCER
republished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:
Ahmad Khan Rahami lived with his father. His father never noticed the pressure cookers, the bomb parts — none of it? He should be closely questioned.
“‘I called the FBI 2 years ago!’: Chelsea bombing suspect’s dad,” by Kevin Sheehan and Yaron Steinbuch, New York Post, September 20, 2016:
…After closing his New Jersey fried chicken restaurant, Mohammad Rahami was asked by reporters whether he had called the feds on his son.
“Yes, I called the FBI,” he said as he drove off in his Chevy Suburban after speaking with FBI agents in Elizabeth, where he lives above his First American Fried Chicken joint.
He also said he didn’t think his son is a terrorist. Asked why, he said: “Because the FBI — they know that.”
The cryptic response followed one he made earlier, when he yelled, “I called the FBI two years ago!”…
A day earlier, the elder Rahami said he had “no idea” about his son’s alleged bomb plots in New York and New Jersey.
“My heart is very, very…,” he said before trailing off.
Asked if he been aware of what his son was up to, he told NBC News: “No idea.”…
A neighbor and former Marine who served in Afghanistan told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz that “the father used to be a mujahedeen in Afghanistan.”
“He is from the same city where I was deployed as a Marine,” Jonathan Wagner told Haaretz, adding that the father used to say the Taliban were ruining Afghanistan.
An agent has confirmed that Mohammad Rahami really did call the feds, but then retracted his claims about his son: “Ahmad Rahami’s dad accused son of being a terrorist in 2014,” by Kevin Johnson, USA Today, September 20, 2016:
New York bombing suspect Ahmad Rahami surfaced on the FBI’s radar about two years ago when Rahami’s father allegedly referred to his son as a terrorist, a federal law enforcement official told USA TODAY on Tuesday.
The reference came during a domestic dispute involving the family, prompting the FBI to review the father’s claims, according to the official who was not authorized to comment publicly.
The official said the matter was closed in part because the father recanted his claim, and there was nothing to substantiate it.

East Coast Bomber’s Father Warned Police About His Son in 2014

In 2014, the East Coast bomber’s father told FBI agents that his son was a terrorist. The father, Mohammad Rahami, told the New York Times:
Two years ago I go to the FBI because my son [Ahmad Khan Rahami, shown] was doing really bad, O.K.? But they check almost two months [and] they say: “He’s O.K., he’s clean, he’s not a terrorist.”
I say O.K.
It’s not OK. The father did the right thing: acting as the first line of defense against a radical jihadists who threatened innocents. The FBI investigation, called an “assessment,” failed to turn up enough evidence to so much as put Ahmad on a watch list.
Yet after the bombings, evidence turned up that previously should have triggered more than a cursory “nothing to see here, move along” from the police or the FBI. To wit: The terrorist made several trips abroad between 2010 and 2014, including a year’s stay in Pakistan. His notebook, recovered at the scene of his arrest, following the attack in New York, revealed a follower of Anwar al-Awlaki (al-Qaeda’s leading propagandist, who was killed five years ago in Yemen) and a supporter of Nidal Hassan, the murderer of soldiers at Fort Hood.
In addition Ahmad spent three months in jail for attacking and knifing his brother. Didn’t that register on the assessment screen?
Apparently not. That “assessment” didn’t even involve a conversation with the accused bomber. Two months: no evidence, no concerns, no conversation?
An official, when asked about the inquiry, said the father made the comment out of anger at his son and later recanted.
Mr. Rahami was charged with aggravated assault and illegal weapons possession, according to court records. He spent over three months in jail, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. A grand jury, however, declined to indict Mr. Rahami. Assistant director William F. Sweeney, who heads the F.B.I.’s New York office, alluded on Monday at a news conference to a “domestic incident” in which he said the “allegations were recanted.”
If lone-wolf jihadists are to be stopped, or even slowed, at least two things must happen: Non-jihadist Muslims must not remain silent when terrorists exist in their midst, plotting, planning, and carrying out their acts of terror. If they don’t, then every Muslim in the country will be painted with the same brush: You’re all terrorists!
And investigations such as the “assessment” that revealed nothing must go deeper and reach further in order to identify those who would harm U.S. citizens. Without at least these two changes, more lone-wolf attacks by disaffected Muslim terrorists posing as Americans can be expected to maim and kill innocents.

OBAMA AT U.N.: SUBMIT TO WORLD GOVERNMENT, BASHES AMERICA 11 TIMES IN FINAL SPEECH AS PRESIDENT

Obama Brags About His Globalist Legacy
At Final UN Speech
Published on Sep 20, 2016
The United Nations General Assembly in New York City spent the day painting a rosy picture around the autocratic nightmare known as Agenda 2030. Then President Obama stepped up to the podium for his final love fest of himself as the President of the United States. As if speaking into the vacuum of space, Obama lectured the international body of globalist banking pawns with half truths and grandiose ideas. Still promising big things after eight years of diligently checking off the multinational corporation’s to do list at the expense of any real hope or change benefiting the citizens of the United States.

Meanwhile, just outside the doors of the United Nations building in Manhattan. The true impact of Obama’s policies basked in stark reality. As the number of black food-stamp recipients rose 58.2% under Obama. A stagnant GDP growth of 2.4% in 2015 froze the economy. And a national debt ticked away incessantly as it essentially doubled under Obama’s spending spree on global initiatives and the prerogatives of other nations.

As our national security is threatened by Obama’s Immigration Trojan Horse, the hesitation to consistently deny the existence of radical terrorism is a clear and present danger. Billionaire Obama and Hillary supporter George Soros added insult to injury by announcing a donation of $500 million to keep the destabilization of civilization on an even keel. CNBC reported “We will invest in startups, established companies, social impact initiatives, and businesses started by migrants and refugees.” the 86-year-old George Soros said in an official statement.

Todays hollow talk in the United Nations building was nothing short of a desperate attempt to push an Agenda 2030 narrative with more empty promises masking a New World Order stratagem waging a soft war on the very sovereignty of nations.

President Obama said that nations will have to give up some of their autonomy and freedom to achieve security on Tuesday during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly.
Obama told the audience that he believes global security can be achieved with the help of international institutions like the U.N. In his remarks, Obama said “powerful nations” like the United States will have to accept constraints and give up some of their freedom. The president acknowledged that he has been criticized by his own citizens for this belief, but that he remains convinced he is right. Obama also stated that, while countries will have to accept some limits on their freedom, they should not give up the right to defend themselves.
“We can only realize the promise of this institution’s founding to replace the ravages of war with cooperation if powerful nations like my own accept constraints,” Obama said. “I’m convinced in the long run giving up some freedom of action, not giving up our ability to protect ourselves or pursue our core interests but binding ourselves to international rules, over the long-term, enhances our security.”
Full remark:
“We have to put our money where our mouths are. And we can only realize the promise of this institution’s founding to replace the ravages of war with cooperation if powerful nations like my own accept constraints. Sometimes I’m criticized in my own country for professing a belief in international norms and multilateral institutions, but I’m convinced in the long run giving up some freedom of action, not giving up our ability to protect ourselves or pursue our core interests but binding ourselves to international rules, over the long-term, enhances our security.”

OBAMA USING TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO BUY IMMIGRANT VOTES FOR DEMOCRATS

OBAMA USING TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO BUY IMMIGRANT VOTES FOR DEMOCRATS

The Obama administration continues to devote taxpayer dollars to register new immigrant voters (i.e., Democratic voters) in time for the November election. After spending $19 million early this year on the registration efforts, the administration has dedicated another $10 million this month.
Judicial Watch reports, “The money is distributed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Homeland Security Agency that oversees lawful immigration, to organizations that help enhance pathways to naturalization by offering immigrants free citizenship instruction, English, US. History and civics courses.”
The agency has spent a significant amount of money on these grants, $63 million since 2009, to prepare over 150,000 immigrants for citizenship, according to Judicial Watch.
“We intend to award about $1 million to first-time recipients in the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program for fiscal year 2016,” the USCIS grant announcement states. “If you represent one of these organizations, or know of an interested organization, we strongly encourage that organization to consider applying. Additionally, another $9 million will fund programs that provide both citizenship instruction and instruction and naturalization application services.”
The Department of Homeland Security has also recruited other groups to help provide the necessary services for immigrants to gain citizenship status. “USCIS acknowledges the valuable role that local service provider community-based organizations play in immigrant communities,” the announcement reads. “Due to the strong relationships these agencies often have with immigrants in the local area, these organizations can assist USCIS in its effort to reach underserved populations.”
These efforts fall under a larger initiative launched by the Obama administration last year with the creation of the Task Force on New Americans, chaired by his domestic policy director, Cecilia Muñoz, the former vice president of the notoriously anti-American group National Council of La Raza (NCLR), which has cost millions of taxpayer dollars.
Likewise, numerous federal agencies have joined the effort, including the Departments of Labor, Education, Justice, Housing and Urban Development and Health and Human Services. Each Department’s contribution involves further use of taxpayer dollars and funds things such as workforce programs, education toolkits, and access to housing programs, all of which are subsidized by taxpayers.
Judicial Watch contends that the program is clearly intended to qualify “as many immigrants as possible to vote since they tend to cast ballots for Democrats.” The $10 million grant is targeting more than a dozen states, including Ohio and Florida, both of which are key swing states that can make a big difference in November.
In 2012, a Cooperative Congressional Election Study found that among 2,900 naturalized immigrants, 62.5 percent identified as Democrats, 12.9 percent as independent, and 24.6 percent as Republican. Among non-citizens, those figures are even worse for Republicans, with just 16.8 percent identifying as Republican, 60.4 percent as Democrat and 22.9 percent as independent.
Likewise, a 2014 report from the Center for Immigration Studies revealed that increased immigration amounts to a growing Democratic voter base. “The enormous flow of legal immigrants into the country — 29.5 million from 1980 to 2012 — has remade and continues to remake the nation’s electorate in favor of the Democratic Party,” concluded the report. “As the immigrant population has grown, Republican electoral prospects have dimmed, even after controlling for alternative explanations of GOP performance.”
Sadly, the Republican-led Congress is an all-too willing participant, as it approved the money for the USCIS grant, notes WND.
Robert Spencer, author of the JihadWatch.org blog, contends that the Democratic Party has been buying votes for years with taxpayer dollars
“Ever since 1932, the Democratic Party has been buying constituencies and securing their status as the majority party by offering benefits — welfare, etc. — to the constituent groups,” Spencer said. “Their push for unrestricted immigration and amnesty for illegals is no different. It’s just another scam to get more Democrat voters into the polling booths.”
Meanwhile, at the same time the Obama administration is pouring taxpayer dollars into recruiting new Democratic voters, it is simultaneously fighting state voter ID laws that seek to prevent voter fraud. In other words, even when the administration cannot turn enough immigrants into legal voters, the absence of voter ID laws can ensure that illegal immigrants can cast their ballots in November.
Despite claims by the Left that voter fraud is non-existent, a 2014 study confirmed that close races are influenced by non-citizens who cast ballots. That study found that in 2008, for example, non-citizens likely won Barack Obama the state of North Carolina.
It seems like this administration has all its bases covered so that it can push for four more years of the same policies under a new Democratic leader.

I am positively gobsmacked over the fact that folks who are planning to vote for Hillary Clinton cannot see her level of hypocrisy. Even worse her history of pathologically lying is blatantly apparent, even in mainstream media; a miracle indeed that they’re being truthful about it. Nevertheless, for those who are still walking the fence on to whom they should vote for, allow me to show you the type of President you would be voting for should you decide on Clinton.
1a) The country is getting poorer as are the median income households.
1b) Hillary Clinton states she left the White House in debt because, among other things, she had two mortgages to pay for monthly. Yet, through her and her husband’s charitable foundation she is now worth more than $150,000,000.
2a) Hillary claims Trump is in love with Putin.
2b) Wasn’t it Hillary who lovingly embraced Russia by creating her so-called “reset button”?
3a) She claims Donald Trump cannot be trusted with national secrets.
3b) Yet, Hillary put 110 “Classified Documents” on her server according to F.B.I. Director James Comey.
4a) According to Hillary, Trump doesn’t have the temperament to be our next President.
4b) Hillary’s volcanic temper is legendary according to first-hand accounts, especially those who had work/worked for her or her husband when he was President.
5a) Hillary claims Trump is constantly lying about the facts.
5b) Hillary is a serial liar! She is “constantly” being caught in a spider web of lies which she had spun. Can we say Benghazi? Or how about her emails? Even so, how about her testimony before Congress?
6a) Hillary claims that Trump is hiding things.
6b) The F.B.I. recovered more than 32,000 emails Hillary attempted to hide from the public, including classified material and national secrets. She even had a number of her Blackberries and IPads destroyed with hammers to hide the evidence.
7a) Hillary claims that Trump is a misogynist even though he was the first person in history to leave the entire construction of a building in the hands of a woman. That building was Trump Towers.
7b) On the other hand women who worked for Hillary during her reign as Secretary of State were being paid eighteen cents less per dollar than their male counterparts. I thought she was supposed to be the “so-called” champion of women’s rights??? As Secretary of State Hillary could’ve immediately given all of those women a pay raise that would equal to the amount their male counterparts were being paid. Yet, nothing had been done.
8a) Hillary claims Trump could not deal with International events and people.
8b) International events? Hillary, can you say Benghazi?
9a) Clinton accuses Trump of being a xenophobe, racist, misogynist, homophobe, etc.
9b) And still Hillary calls “at least half of Trumps supporters ‘deplorables’”.
10a) Trump admits he needs to lose 10 – 20 pounds.
10b) Hillary, as always, lied and tried to hide her medical conditions. Her concussion, coughing fits, pneumonia are just a few examples. And, from my own medical background, I can assure you she cannot be perfectly fit as she has claimed. Pneumonia will usually take between 2 – 4 weeks to recover from with proper antibiotics, and even longer for older folks. Yet, supposedly, after 5 days’ worth of resting she now perfectly healthy again. Give me a break! I suspect we’ll see something down the road.
11a) Hillary demands that Trump release his tax records. Which, by the way, is only a tradition and not a requirement for becoming the President. This tradition is a little bit more than 30 years old now.
11b) Hillary needs to have the Clinton Foundation financial reports and records released for illegal activities such as “pay-for-play” and illegal “campaign funds”, etc.
12a) Hillary claims Trump isn’t telling the truth about so many different things.
12b) According to family members, Hillary lied to them about the death of their sons during the Benghazi terror attack which left the embassy in flames.
13a) Donald Trump faces the music everyday by allow easy access to reporters.
13a) On the other hand Hillary avoided the press like the plague for 271 days (9 months). She certainly doesn’t want the press to ask her questions about Benghazi, her email server, jeopardizing national secrets, etc. Hillary does not want to face the music!
14a) Trump is not afraid to say “Islamic Terrorists” or “Radical Islam”.
14b) Hillary refuses to call it for what it is: “Islamic Terrorism(ists)” even though we just had two more attacks in New York and Minnesota.
15a) She has stated that Trump needs to be transparent.
15b) After being in the public eye for 30 years Hillary is riddled with layer upon layer of concealment, lies and deceptions. Hillary and Obama’s idea about transparency is akin to that of Mississippi mud!
16a) Hillary claims Donald Trump would be completely incompetent as our next Command-in-Chief.
16b) This is exactly what the F.B.I. stated about Hillary and her handling of our nation’s top secrets. They stated that she was “criminally negligent and incompetent”.
17a) Hillary claims Donald Trump would make America more unsafe.
17b) Meanwhile, Hillary wants to bring in tens of thousands of more refugees with terrorists hiding among them into America; into your neighborhoods.
18a) Trumps wants to build a wall to help keep out terrorists and drug runners who are coming into America through South America.
18b) Hillary wants to implement more of the same old policies as the solution to terrorism and drug running.
19a) Donald Trump wants to make America safe against Islamic terrorists.
19b) Thanks to Hillary’s and Obama’s policies in Iraq, Libya and Syria we now have the Isis problem and throughout the world.
20a) Donald Trump wants to bolster our 2nd. Amendment rights.
20b) Hillary wants to put on even more regulations about “the right to bear arms”. By the way, Hillary, it was Jason Falconer, an off-duty officer and NRA certified instructor who took down the terrorist in the mall in Minnesota. And ISIS did take credit for this attack.
21a) Donald Trump wants to downsize the Government.
21b) Hillary wants “business as usual”.
22a) Trump wants to lower taxes.
22b) Hillary will raise taxes by getting us, the taxpaying citizens, to pay for “tuition free” colleges and to pay for all of the debt that those students have accrued. I put myself through University by having two partial scholarships, holding two-part time jobs, whatever money I could save during the summer months and my VA benefits. It was very difficult at times but I left University without owing anyone a penny. If I could do it so can all of those pampered princes and princesses.
23a) Trumps states: “We’re at War”!
23b) Hillary and her cronies states that “We’re in a narrative fight.” Are you kidding me?! A “narrative fight” is when children call each other names on the playground. It’s not a “narrative fight” Hillary when people’s sons and daughters are being brutally murdered and tortured by the enemy. And as a combat trained veteran of the United States Army…Hillary, you and your comments disgust me!
24a) Hillary claims that Trump’s comments are being used to recruit people into various terrorist groups.
24b) None of Hillary’s so-called policies or actions have done anything to detour ISIS or terrorism.
25a) Donald Trump’s campaign slogan is: “Make America Great” again. Hillary claims this is a racist remark.
25b) Hillary Clinton’s husband, Bill, when he was on the campaign trail in 1991 was using the exact same slogan: “Make America Great Again”.

Hillary Clinton is constantly laying accusations at the feet of Donald Trump while at the time being guilty of every single one of those claims. Hillary, hypocrisy looks good on no one!

ANDY STANLEY & “NEW” CHRISTIANITY’S “BIBLIOLATRY”

ANDY STANLEY & “NEW” CHRISTIANITY’S “BIBLIOLATRY”
SEE: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/newsletters/2016/newsletter20160919.htmrepublished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

As we reported earlier this week, mega-church pastor (and son of Charles Stanley) says that Christian leaders need to “get the spotlight off the Bible.” Stanley may think he has come up with some unique idea and saying, but he hasn’t. It’s the same ol’ emerging talk that has been going on with emergent figures all along. For instance, Biola University professor J.P. Moreland once said that evangelical Christians are too committed to the Bible.

“In the actual practices of the Evangelical community in North America, there is an over-commitment to Scripture in a way that is false, irrational, and harmful to the cause of Christ,”  [Moreland] said. “And it has produced a mean-spiritedness among the over-committed that is a grotesque and often ignorant distortion of discipleship unto the Lord Jesus.” The problem, he said, is “the idea that the Bible is the sole source of knowledge of God, morality, and a host of related important items. Accordingly, the Bible is taken to be the sole authority for faith and practice.(source)

But just like Stanley’s statement isn’t going to upset most Christians and certainly isn’t going to ruffle any Christian leader feathers, Moreland’s absurd comments didn’t ruffle anything up either. In fact, he’s still a major influential voice in evangelical Christianity.
While Moreland gives examples such as non-charismatics who steer clear of any and all venues such as “impressions, dreams, visions, prophetic words, words of knowledge and wisdom,” there may be more behind his statements than meets the eye. This idea of “bibliolatry” (the idolizing of the Bible) did not originate with Moreland either. Contemplative Brennan Manning (who gets many of his ideas from mystics like Thomas Merton and William Shannon (Silence on Fire), once said this:

I am deeply distressed by what I only can call in our Christian culture the idolatry of the Scriptures. For many Christians, the Bible is not a pointer to God but God himself. In a word—bibliolatry. God cannot be confined within the covers of a leather-bound book. I develop a nasty rash around people who speak as if mere scrutiny of its pages will reveal precisely how God thinks and precisely what God wants.”–Brennan Manning, Signature of Jesus, pp. 188-189

Without checking the further inferences of such statements, some may agree with Manning and Moreland solely on the idea that we should not worship a leather-bound book but rather the One of whom the book is about. But few “over-committed” Bible-believing Christians would argue with that. Christians who believe the Bible is the actual inspired word of God know that the Bible is not God Himself, but it is the Jesus Christ proclaimed in that Bible who is to be worshiped. But they also know that within the pages of the Bible are the holy words, ideas, and truths of God (and, in fact, the words are so inspired by God that it is called a two-edged sword). So for Moreland and Manning to suggest that these types of Christians don’t really worship God but rather pages in a book is a misrepresentation of Bible-believing Christians.
Emergent Scot McKnight is another who uses this term, bibliolatry. In his book A Community Called Atonement, McKnight says, “I begin with the rubble called bibliolatry, the tendency for some Christians to ascribe too much to the Bible” (p. 143).
Emerging spirituality figure Walter Brueggemann uses the term in his book Theology of the Old Testament (p. 574).
There may be a logical reason why these men condemn those who adhere to the Bible too strongly. All have something in common – they all promote contemplative spirituality. And, as we have shown time and again, those who embrace the contemplative spiritual outlook, often shift their focus from the moral (doctrine) to the mystical as Henri Nouwen suggested in his book In the Name of Jesus:

Through the discipline of contemplative prayer, Christian leaders have to learn to listen to the voice of love . . .  For Christian leadership to be truly fruitful in the future, a movement from the moral to the mystical is required. (p. 32)

In Moreland’s book, The Lost Virtue of Happiness, he talks about rediscovering important spiritual principles that have been lost. In Faith Undone, Roger Oakland cites this book in explaining the problem of mysticism:

Two of the spiritual disciplines . . .  are “Solitude and Silence” (p. 51). The book says that these two disciplines are “absolutely fundamental to the Christian life” (p. 51). . . .  Moreland and Issler [co-author] state:

In our experience, Catholic retreat centers [bastions of mysticism] are usually ideal for solitude retreats . . . We also recommend that you bring photos of your loved ones and a picture of Jesus . . .  Or gaze at a statue of Jesus. Or let some pleasant thought, feeling, or memory run through your mind over and over again (pp. 54-55)….

Moreland and Issler provide tips for developing a prayer life. Here are some of the recommendations they make:
[W]e recommend that you begin by saying the Jesus Prayer about three hundred times a day (p. 90).
When you first awaken, say the Jesus Prayer twenty to thirty times. As you do, something will begin to happen to you. God will begin to slowly begin to occupy the center of your attention (p. 92).
Repetitive use of the Jesus Prayer while doing more focused things allows God to be on the boundaries of your mind and forms the habit of being gently in contact with him all day long (p. 93).
Moreland and Issler try to present what they consider a scriptural case that repetitive prayers are OK with God. But they never do it! They say the Jesus Prayer is derived from Luke 18:38 where the blind man cries out, “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me,”(p.90) but nowhere in that section of the Bible (or any other section for that matter) does it instruct people to repeat a rendition of Luke 18:38 over and over. (from Faith Undone, pp. 117-119)

To be sure, the worship of leather and paper would be unscriptural and idolatrous, but we have never known or heard of a single case where a Christian advocates or practices Bible worship in that sense. As far as that goes, we have known countless Christians who respect (revere) the Bible as being the inspired Word of God; now if that were a point deserving criticism and condemnation, then we would necessarily need to place the apostle Paul under such scrutiny for having said, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Was Paul a Bible worshiper? We know he was not. We also know that he never instructed anyone to repeat words or phrases from the Bible over and over for the purpose of achieving a “silence” (i.e., a mind-altering state). Such a practice is not taught anywhere in Scripture; hence, we propose that it is just such a practice that is a misuse of Scripture. Is it mere coincidence that in almost every case where someone uses the “bibliolatry” argument, that person also promotes contemplative prayer, a practice that cannot be supported through Scripture? And by downplaying scriptural authority, cannot the contemplative viewpoint be easier to promote within Christianity?
One last case in point about “bibliolatry” comes from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho (NNU) where Dr. Jay McDaniel was invited to speak. McDaniel is a self-proclaimed “Christian” Buddhist sympathizer. When asked by a student at the lecture whether he believed that Jesus was “the way, the truth, and the life,” McDaniel stated that if Jesus had meant to say that He himself was the way, the truth, and the life, it would have been egocentric and arrogant of Jesus – He only meant to point people in the right direction – letting go of ego and grasping love. McDaniel stated also that Buddhist mindfulness (eastern meditation) is just as truth filled as doctrine and theology. He said there was an overemphasis in the church on doctrine calling it bibliolatry (idol worship of the Bible). (source) (click here to watch video of McDaniel lecture)
There is an attack on the Word of God. That’s no new thing–secular humanists, New Agers, and philosophers have attacked the Bible for centuries. But this attack of which we speak comes from within the ranks of Christianity out of the halls of highly respected universities, off the presses of successful Christian publishers, and out of the mouths of really popular Christian leaders.
What can we make of this idea of “bibliolatry”? The following statement offers some valid insight regarding this idea that Christians put too much emphasis on the Bible:

Today some are saying that the Bible is a lesser revelation than the Son. But if we do not make much of the Bible, then we cannot know much of the Son, for our only source of information about the Son (and hence about the Father) is through the Bible. Furthermore, if the Bible is not to be trusted, then again, we cannot know truth about the Son . . . if the Bible is not completely true, we end up with either misinformation or subjective evaluation. Jesus Himself asserted that the Bible revealed Him (Luke 24:27, 44-45, John 5:39). (A Survey of Christian Doctrine, Ryrie, p. 17)

In summary, we find it rather odd that in a time in history when many churches are hardly even opening the Bible that Bible-believing Christians would be accused of focusing too much on the Bible (what is it about the Bible these guys don’t like?). Our continual plea to all Christians is to be diligent in their study of the Scriptures and to be as the Bereans who “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11). We should also note that Jesus never corrected people for studying the Scriptures but rather for their lack of understanding them. Paul nailed it on the head when he said, “Study to show thyself approved unto God . . . rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Could this accusation of “bibliolatry” be nothing more than a smoke screen to further the contemplative agenda, which ultimately leads right to a one-world global religion that will declare all is God and God is in all.

Almost 20 years ago, Andy Stanley—the son of Southern Baptist legend Charles Stanley—emerged as a new generation pastor, a man of rare gifts when it comes to communicating. He eschewed jackets and ties and the more formal trappings of traditional church.

In about 2000, he was instrumental in helping develop a leadership entity known as Catalyst.
In the midst of all this, Stanley the Younger was in a feud of sorts with Stanley the Elder over the latter’s separation from his wife (Andy’s mother).
Over time, the son’s church eclipsed the father’s church in terms of attendees, and today Andy Stanley is one-third of what I call the Evangelical Trifecta: Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, and Stanley. Quite interestingly, Warren is based on the west coast; Hybels holds down the Midwest from Chicago, and Stanley is entrenched on the east coast. In more ways than one, they blanket the country and absolutely control the evangelical narrative. Their books and methologies totally dominate evangelicalism and their church growth techniques are now American dogma.
In recent years, Andy Stanley has made waves with his brand of what I’d call Progressive Evangelicalism. His prayers at Obama’s inaugurations,1 and his willingness to allow Michelle Obama to speak at his North Point Church are part of a troubling trend. He also has absolutely helped mainstream homosexuality within the evangelical church.
What gives?
Stanley, who comes across as a winsome, easy-going fellow, is really a major change agent. His podcasts, messages, and books are absorbed by many tens of thousands of U.S. pastors.
I will tell you clearly that I believe he is described in the book of Jude. Men like Stanley have crept in unawares.
In our time.
What does this have to do with Israel?
Stanley’s rise, and that of his fellow change agents, coincides with a sharp downturn of support for Israel in the churches. It’s one element in an overall larger story, but the bottom line is this: Stanley’s watering-down of Christianity runs parallel to the rise of the so-called Christian Palestinianists. While Stanley himself rarely speaks of Israel, many of his friends and associations are anti-Israel.
Often, people answer me by saying: “But Charles Stanley supports Israel!”
He does so far as I know, but you do see that’s irrelevant in the context of what Andy Stanley is doing . . . don’t you?
Overall, Andy Stanley wants to fundamentally change what the Evangelical Church is. He, like Warren and Hybels, wants conformity and group-think. He wants you to think as he thinks.
And he thinks in dangerous ways.
Late last month, the Southern Baptist Convention’s “Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission” (ERLC) hosted another self-serving conference in Nashville, titled “Onward” (shockingly, the same title as that of the ERLC chief’s new book; it’s about the marketing, stupid). Stanley was invited to speak.
Boy, did he.
While ERLC President Russell Moore looked on grinning, Andy Stanley said the following:

“I would ask preachers and pastors and student pastors in their communications to get the spotlight off the Bible and back on the resurrection.”

Get the spotlight off the Bible!
Welcome to the Age of Apostasy.
Did you hear what he said? Andy Stanley speaks blasphemy and nonsense . . . and no national leader says a word.
Just for a moment, think about the illogical nature of Stanley’s statement: how do we know about the resurrection? Through Scripture.
Does anybody call him on this nonsense? No. He grows stronger.
Several years ago, Stanley gave an interview in which he openly said that as a college freshman, he embraced his professor’s contention that Genesis 1-11 is a fairy tale.
You need to understand this one bit of information undergirds everything he does. It is foundational to his thinking and “ministry.”
He is arrogant and powerful.
When you have famous national evangelicals with this kind of worldview, you will see a downturn in support for Israel. Stanley has made several outrageous statements about the Bible in the past three years; in short, he wants people to get their focus off the Bible. Can you imagine such?
Andy Stanley’s so-called ministry is an outrage. Would that he was held accountable. But he won’t be.
This is a key reason (though largely unknown by the rank-and-file) why Israel has fallen out of favor. If you relegate the Bible to myth, why pay attention? Why would Israel’s historical claims to the land be more valid than anyone else’s?
Stanley is helping destroy the American Church. In my opinion, he will be a major reason the American Church morphs into the State Church before too many more years pass.
And remember: my views of Stanley aren’t the story here. The story is the unconscionable violence he is willingly doing to Scripture and to the evangelical community.

GATEWAY TO APOSTASY: SOUTHERN BAPTIST GATEWAY SEMINARY ADDED TO CONTEMPLATIVE PROMOTING COLLEGE LIST~THE APOSTATE/HERETICAL GETTYS WILL BE COMING TO GATEWAY TOO!

GATEWAY TO APOSTASY:
SOUTHERN BAPTIST GATEWAY SEMINARY http://www.gs.edu/
ADDED TO CONTEMPLATIVE PROMOTING COLLEGE LIST
SEE: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/newsletters/2016/newsletter20160919.htmrepublished below in full unedited for informational, educational, and research purposes:

After a request by a Lighthouse Trails reader to check into Southern  Baptist Convention’s Gateway Seminary which has locations in five different US cities, Lighthouse Trails has added Gateway Seminary to the Lighthouse Trails Contemplative-Promoting College list. If you are not familiar with that list, it is a list of NOT recommended Christian colleges, universities, and seminaries. These schools all have one major thing in common. They all promote contemplative spirituality through their Spiritual Formation programs. So, in other words, these are schools that are not going to be biblically sound and will be a spiritual danger to students.
You can do some of your own research on Gateway Seminary by visiting this page that lists all their course’s syllabi: http://www.gs.edu/academics/course-syllabi/. But here is one example:

  1. In Gateway’s Dr. David Robinson’s Spiritual Formation course, his syllabus states: “This course is designed to explore and experience the concepts of Christian spiritual formation and the establishment of spiritual disciplines that foster continuous spiritual growth. Students will participate directly in specific spiritual disciplines.” Here’s the required textbooks for the course:

Benner, David G. The Gift of Being Yourself: The Sacred Call to Self-Discovery. DownersGrove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2004.
Buchanan, Mark. The Rest of God: Restoring Your Soul by Restoring Sabbath. Nashville, TN:W Publishing Group, Div. of Thomas Nelson, 2006.
Willard, Dallas. The Spirit of the Disciplines: Understanding How God Changes Lives. NewYork, NY: Harper Collins Publishers, 1991.

That means if your future (or even present) pastor or youth pastor is studying at that school, he is going to get a hardy helping of the writings of contemplative prayer advocates. You see Dallas Willard was highly influenced by the Catholic contemplative prayer movement as is David Benner. And don’t be fooled by Mark Buchanan’s innocent sounding book title. His book is endorsed on the back cover by emerging figures Lauren Winner and Philip Yancey. And why wouldn’t they endorse the book?—It fits right in with what they believe. And his book is filled with the usual contemplative language and suspects.
You must remember, in the contemplative prayer movement, the whole objective is to convince people they must “stop thinking,” “rest the mind,” “still the soul,” “be still,” “turn off thoughts,” and so forth. What they are really talking about is putting the mind in neutral, so to speak, and thus going into an altered state of consciousness as prescribed in eastern meditation. Why? So one can “hear the voice of God.” What is this “voice of God” going to tell you? That you are “beloved,” “divine,” “I AM,” “a higher self,” “the true self”—oh yes, that you are God!! That’s what this whole movement is all about. Whether it’s Jesus Calling, The Shack, Purpose Driven, Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, or Henri Nouwen, the message is coming across loud and clear, YOU’VE GOT TO HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD! This “hearing the voice of God” that happens during contemplative meditation is different than the legitimate prompting, leading, and guiding of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life.
The problem contemplatives have run into in their idea of hearing the voice of God is a two-fold obstacle: the Word of God and our minds (our thoughts). So we have to turn the Bible into a meditation tool with things like lectio divina and then shut out those thoughts we have with meditation exercises. Then we can finally hear “the voice of God.” Remember what Brennan Manning said:

“The first step of faith is to stop thinking about God at the time of prayer.” -From Signature of Jesus, Brennan Manning, p. 212 (page 198 in a later edition)

Lighthouse Trails has always said that contemplative and emerging are synonymous terms? Take a look at professor Robinson’s bibliography for his Spiritual Formation course at Gateway Seminary. It’s a “Cream of the Crop” who’s who in emerging contemplative spirituality. A few names in his list: Brian McLaren, Henri Nouwen, Richard Foster, Morton Kelsey, John of the Cross, Doug Pagitt, Eugene Peterson, and Teresa of Avila. These are the people from whom this professor is gleaning spiritual food. Not only are these all promoters of contemplative mysticism, most of them are panenthestic.
Another class from Gateway that is taking instruction from contemplative authors is Dr. Dallas Bivins’ Spiritual Formation class. Many of the same names as Robinson’s class, but add Kenneth Boa’s Handbook to Prayer to that. Boa, as Lighthouse Trails has documented in the past, is a strong advocate for contemplative spirituality.
Then there is Dr. Bob Bender’s Pastoral Counseling class at Gateway Seminary with a number of contemplative/emergent authors listed in the syllabus including Brian McLaren admirer Dan Allender (not to mention Henri Nouwen, Brennan Manning, David Benner, Larry Crabb, and others of similar caliber).
Robinson, Bivins, and Bender’s classes are part of Gateway’s Leadership Formation program. Scary to think of the kind of leaders Gateway is going to produce for the church.
Lest you think it’s just their Leadership Formation program that has serious problems, their Global Missions program is riddled with contemplative emergent influences as well. Other syllabi authors used by Gateway Seminary include emerging figures  N.T. Wright, Alan Hirsch, Eddie Gibbs (see Faith Undone), Mark Driscoll, Bill Hybels, Sally Morgenthaler, Tim Keller, Buddhist sympathizer and Catholic convert Peter Kreeft (listed under In Defense of the Christian Faith!), not to mention C. Peter Wagner. We think you get the point.
If you belong to the Southern Baptist Convention and are thinking of sending someone you care about to Gateway Seminary, we hope you will reconsider.
Here’s a closing piece of documentation we found from Gateway Seminary’s website. It’s an article written by Dr. Doran McCarty called “A Guide for Spiritual Formation Mentors.” In this article, McCarty talks about spiritual hunger. He says even Christians have this. This is typical of those who promote contemplative spirituality. Across the board, contemplatives insist that Christians feel dry, empty, want to go deeper, etc. We can’t think of one contemplative we have studied who has not indicated this. What has always puzzled us is this: If someone has had the new birth in Jesus Christ, which means he or she has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (God), how can we feel empty, dry, and needing to “go deeper”? Now one may feel this way if he or she has neglected time in the Word and in prayer but what contemplatives suggest is that even time in the Word and normal prayer are not enough – something more is needed. What they neglect to tell us is that while the Holy Spirit has been given to believers to nurture, convict, and guide us as we pray and study His Word, there is also a pseudo Holy Spirit (i.e., familiar spirits) that come to those who engage in mind-altering meditation. We know that contemplative prayer is wrong because mind altering or mantra meditation is forbidden in Deuteronomy 18:9-13, and Jesus instructed His disciples not to use such a prayer practice in Matthew 6:7. We also know contemplative prayer is wrong because the proven fruit of this practice is that it leads to a pantheistic or panentheistic spiritual outlook while the message of the Cross (the Gospel) becomes irrelevant as the participant grows to believe that we are already a part of God.
Now if we are in Christ, we do have the Holy Spirit with and in us, and He promises never to leave us. But those like McCarty have something else in mind. What caught our attention most in this article by McCarty is his reference to and quoting of panentheist Tilden Edwards (also co-founder of the Shalem Prayer Institute in Washington, DC). McCarty quotes Edwards referencing the “spiritual friend.” In Edwards’ book, Spiritual Friend, he says the following:

“This mystical stream [contemplative prayer] is the Western bridge to Far Eastern spirituality.”—Tilden Edwards, Spiritual Friend, p. 18.

This is what Lighthouse Trails has been trying to warn the church about for nearly 15 years.
For those who are unsure as to how the majority of Christian schools ended up in this mess, please read our special report An Epidemic of Apostasy – How Christian Seminaries Must Incorporate “Spiritual Formation” to Become Accredited.”  In that report, you will learn that largely due to accreditation associations (such as ATS, where Gateway Seminary is accredited) requiring Christian schools to have Spiritual Formation integrated into their schools if they want to be accredited (kind of a quazi-bribing situation, if you will) is why this is happening at such a fast rate. From nearly fifteen years of research, we estimate that over 90% of the Christian higher education institutions have brought in Spiritual Formation (aka contemplative spirituality). That’s called a spiritual crisis in modern-day Christianity and a gateway into apostasy.
If you are confused about what contemplative prayer is, please read this article by Ray Yungen:http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/?p=18192.

THE GETTYS ARE COMING TO GATEWAY
SEE:

“The Gettys-The Pied Pipers of Contemporary Worship Music”

QUOTES: The Getty’s ecumenical, one-world-church goal is to “bring everyone together musically” (www.keithgetty.com). They want to “bridge the gap between the traditional and contemporary” (www.gettymusic.com/about.aspx). The Gettys are also a bridge to a wide variety of theological heresy. Any bridge that Bible-believing churches build to the Gettys is a bridge beyond the Gettys to people like Bono of U2. In the same 2013 interview, Getty claimed C.S. Lewis as a major theological influence. Yet Lewis rejected the fundamental doctrines of the infallible inspiration of Scripture and “penal substitutionary atonement” and believed in purgatory and baptismal regeneration. Any bridge that Bible-believing churches build to the Gettys is a bridge beyond the Gettys to heretics like C.S. Lewis. The Gettys have a close working relationship with Stuart Townend, who is radically charismatic and ecumenical. In October 2012, the Gettys joined hands with emerging heretic Leonard Sweet at the National Worship Leader Conference in San Diego. Sweet calls his universalist-tinged doctrine New Light and “quantum spirituality” and “the Christ consciousness” and describes it in terms of “the union of the human with the divine” which is the “center feature of all the world’s religions”. Any bridge that Bible-believing churches build to the Gettys is a bridge beyond the Gettys to heretics such as C.S. Lewis and Bono, to the Roman Catholic Church, to the Charismatic movement, to the filthy world of secular rock, to emergents and New Agers like Leonard Sweet, and to every element of the end-time one-world “church.”

CATHOLIC ROOTED SPIRITUAL FORMATION NOT FOR SEXUALLY ABUSED BIBLE BELIEVING CHRISTIANS

We recently recommended GRACE (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment) http://netgrace.org/. In the resources area of this website we found an article that we disagree with. Here’s why:
Andrew Schmutzer of Moody Bible Institute, has written for Biola University’s “Institute of Spiritual Formation”, specifically their “Journal of Spirtitual Formation and Soul Care”. Biola is one of the most extreme proponents of contemplative mysticism and new age spiritual formation, as reported by Lighthouse Trails Research here: http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/blog/?p=1416.  Schmutzer’s is a mystical article recommending such practices for the sexually abused at: http://netgrace.org/wp-content/uploads/Sexual-Abuse-and-Formation_Schmutzer-copy.pdf.
We are warning Bible believing, Reformation adhering Christians to avoid any such program which maligns traditional “Western” Christianity as lacking the ability to heal the full person who has been sexually abused. See pages 77-83 of this article in particular, which alleges that Christianity has had a gross problem with sexuality in all forms, demonstrated in the quote:
“Precisely where transformation and healing are needed in SA, one may encounter a minimization of the ‘soma’ as a suspicion of the ‘flesh’ and a practical denial of sexual impulses. When this occurs, it has ‘left us with a disembodied theology and a great deal of shame.’ Assessing spiritual transformation, for example, Dallas Willard has recently lamented that it often does not work because it ‘does not involve the body in the process of transformation.’ Willard quips, ‘One of the ironies of spiritual formation is that every ‘spiritual’ discipline is or involves bodily behavior.’ This disembodied theology remains one of the greatest hindrances to the healing of the sexually abused in Christian ministries”.
This mystical and unmeasurable theory claims that, based on the “Eastern” (Hindu/Buddhist/Taoist) new age philosophies and theologies of persons like Dallas Willard,

the practices of spiritual formation, comprised of individual but mostly communal rituals, liturgies, and practices (unspecified), can heal the sexually abused where just “ordinary” Christian counseling, prayer and study in the word of God fails, because traditional Christianity ignores the “whole person”.
This is gnosticism pure and simple, which makes the claim to have found superior knowledge that only the select few highly educated have discovered and revealed to us, and which ordinary Christians are ill-equipped to understand.
For Schmutzer to rely on the recommendations of Dallas Willard and people of similar beliefs is first a repudiation of the Reformation and the five solas, and is de facto, an alignment with the Catholic Church’s many “anathemas” of the Inquisition. Secondly the practices of spiritual formation are doubly dangerous, because it purports to be a new found methodology of a cure for the sexually abused who should not be experimented with, and who also risk being spiritually abused by a system which has pagan, Catholic, and new age roots, without any disclaimers or warnings. Disclaimers and/or warnings would have been appropriate in view of the non-Christian roots of these practices (noticeably lacking in the article), with the added very real possibility that a participant would “bring down” and “connect with” a demon or demons who masquerade as the one true God. Thirdly, Scmutzer maligns the Western church’s reliance on “grace”, and implying that those who subscribe to grace rather than a methodology of works as found in spiritual formation would feel “hedged in” by such works. We would propose that true Bible believers would in fact not just feel so, but likewise condemn such practices not only because it is works added to grace, but also because it is non-Christian to the core.
Schmutzer and his wife lead a “CHAI” (Courageous Healing of Abuse and Isolation) group at Wheaton Bible Church for the sexually abused: http://lifeatwheatonbiblechurch.com/2012/02/22/like-chai-its-catching-on/.

Todd Friel of Wretched Radio on Dallas Willard on universalism and works salvation in video below.
Dallas Willard quotes:

“Now, I believe that everyone who deserves to be saved will be saved no matter where they are or what they do.”
“(God) is open and in touch with everyone in the world, and for all who seek them with all of their heart—and that is defined in terms of coming to love Him, and not just have the right beliefs about Him—but coming to love Him, and loving their neighbor as themselves.”
“I am not going to stand in the way of anyone whom God wants to save. I am not going to say ‘he can’t save them.’ I am happy for God to save anyone he wants in any way he can.  It is possible for someone who does not know Jesus to be saved.”
